Dewayne Dedmon will remain in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Lakers.
Pau Gasol is healthy again, but Gregg Popovich is working him back into things slowly by bringing him off the bench. Tony Paker, Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge will join Dedmon in the starting five for today's game. Feb 26 - 3:42 PM

Dewayne Dedmon scored four points with 12 rebounds, three assists, one steal and four blocks against the Clippers on Friday night.

He's not dead yet. Coach Gregg Popovich loves to use Dedmon as a situational big man, especially against formidable 4-5 combos like the Clippers have. Even with Pau Gasol back, Dedmon figures to get the most run of the bigs not named Gasol or LaMarcus Aldridge. He could still be a sneaky block specialist, but there will be a handful of bad games due to the matchup-based minutes from night to night.
Feb 25 - 3:35 AM

Dewayne Dedmon racked up 10 points and 11 rebounds during Wednesday's 107-79 win in Orlando, making 5-of-6 shots with one assist and one block in 29 minutes.

Pau Gasol (hand) is targeting a return immediately after the All-Star break, which is unfortunate for Dedmon and his opportunistic fantasy owners. His numbers are up across the board in a dozen fill-in starts this season, but the inevitable dip in minutes makes him easy to ditch for a hot FA.
Feb 15 - 9:41 PM

Dewayne Dedmon had six points, 12 rebounds and zero blocks in 28 minutes in another start at center on Monday.

Dedmon is far from a must-own player, but is holding his own without Pau Gasol (broken hand), averaging 7.6 points, 11.8 rebounds and 0.8 blocks over his last five games. If he was more of a shot blocker he'd be a more popular fantasy pickup, but with Pau Gasol due back sooner than later, Dedmon should be on a short fantasy leash right now. If you're desperate at center he's certainly worth a look, but keep in mind that Gasol should be back right after the All-Star break.
Feb 13 - 9:59 PM

Dewayne Dedmon followed up Friday's huge game with three points, seven boards, two steals and one block in 24 minutes vs. the Knicks on Sunday.

Dedmon piled up 17 points and 17 boards vs. Detroit on Friday and he was coming off two straight double-doubles. His current role is enough for low-end value, since Pau Gasol (hand) has been ruled out until the All-Star break, but Dedmon's post-break outlook isn't great with Pau threatening his minutes.
Feb 12 - 6:48 PM

Dewayne Dedmon pulled down a career-high 17 boards against the Pistons on Friday, adding a season-high 17 points with one steal and two blocks in 32 minutes.

Those 17 points are just one off his career high from March 2016. Dedmon was also able to shut down Andre Drummond on the other end, and he's clearly earned the role of defensive stopper for coach Gregg Popovich. Pau Gasol (hand) is getting closer and looks like a good bet to be ready for the first game after the break at worst, so the fantasy value on Dedmon may be running out soon.
Feb 10 - 10:55 PM

Dewayne Dedmon double-doubled on Wednesday with 10 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and one block in 26 minutes.

Dedmon is a prototypical low-end center, offering just enough rebounds and blocks, with high FG percentages, to carve out some value. Just remember that Pau Gasol (hand) will likely return soon after the All-Star break, at which point Dedmon will head back to the waiver wire.
Feb 8 - 10:40 PM

Dewayne Dedmon started and played 27 minutes on Monday, finishing with two points on 1-of-3 shooting, 12 rebounds and nothing else.

Dedmon is certainly intriguing with Pau Gasol sidelined for a few more games, but a total lack of offense and an unpredictable role makes him a shaky fantasy prospect, at best. He's averaging 6.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks over his last five games, getting 19 minutes a night.
Feb 7 - 12:25 AM

Dewayne Dedmon turned in a solid start against the 76ers on Thursday, scoring 13 points with 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks in 22 minutes.

In our new favorite stat to check, Dedmon ate against Jahlil Okafor. In that time vs. JO, Dedmon picked up nine points, nine boards, one assist, one steal and two blocks. Even beyond this favorable matchup, Dedmon is likely looking at some extra run with LaMarcus Aldridge (knee) out for this one. If you need some blocks and boards, he's worth a look in even 10-team leagues until LMA gets the all clear. Although, Pau Gasol (hand) should be back this month, so he doesn't have long-term upside.
Feb 2 - 11:41 PM

Dewayne Dedmon will start for LaMarcus Aldridge (knee) against the 76ers on Thursday.

The Spurs are short on bigs and will go with the better-defending, lower-usage player to put in the first unit. He should be looking at several minutes tonight and has a favorable matchup on the offensive end against Jahlil Okafor. If you need blocks, it's not a bad idea to add Dedmon until LMA can make it back.
Feb 2 - 7:23 PM

Dewayne Dedmon started against the Thunder on Tuesday and played well, scoring six points on 2-of-3 shooting with eight rebounds, three steals and one block in just 17 minutes.

He also hit a pair of free throws. This was the 18th different starting lineup for the Spurs this season and they are going to keep shuffling their frontcourt based on the matchups until Pau Gasol (hand) returns. Dedmon is just a deep-league asset for now.
Jan 31 - 11:41 PM

Dewayne Dedmon is starting against the Thunder on Tuesday, sending Davis Bertans to the bench.

It makes sense to go back to Dedmon to match up with the size of Steven Adams. This move will also push LaMarcus Aldridge back to power forward, a move his fantasy owners were hoping to hear. The Spurs are going to shuffle their lineups based on the matchups until Pau Gasol (hand) returns, so Dedmon is not a great pickup.
Jan 31 - 8:39 PM

Dewayne Dedmon returned to the bench on Tuesday vs. the Raptors and scored seven points on 2-of-3 shooting with four rebounds and two assists in 19 minutes.

He didn't record any blocks or steals and his minutes took a hit with both teams going small down the stretch. Dedmon has now started just one out of four games since Pau Gasol (hand) went down, so the volatile role makes him just a low-end pickup for owners in need of a big. In those four games, Dedmon is averaging 6.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist.
Jan 24 - 10:32 PM

David Lee will replace Dewayne Dedmon in the starting lineup on Tuesday.

Dedmon started on Monday to match up with Brooklyn starting center Brook Lopez. Dedmon played well, limiting Lopez to just 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting, while tallying 10 points and eight boards himself in the Spurs win. Dedmon will get bumped back to the bench on Tuesday, but should continue to around 20 minutes a night - he's averaging 19.2 minutes per contest over the Spurs last 10 games.
Jan 24 - 7:05 PM

Dewayne Dedmon started on Monday vs. the Nets and scored 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting with eight rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 29 minutes.

Dedmon drew the start in place of David Lee and he helped limit Brook Lopez to 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting. The Spurs only have one legitimate rim protector right now and that's Dedmon, so we could see him pick up more starts in certain matchups. The Spurs face Jonas Valanciunas on Tuesday and he will likely be a featured part of the offense with DeMar DeRozan (ankle) out, so starting Dedmon again would make sense. With Pau Gasol (hand) likely out 4-6 weeks, give Dedmon a look if you need help in FG percentage, rebounds, steals and blocks.
