Dewayne Dedmon (left ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's game vs. the Pistons.
It appears that Dedmon suffered a setback when he returned to action on Wednesday, and he could be looking at additional time on the sidelines. Channing Frye will have the opportunity to slide back into the starting lineup tonight, but he can only be viewed as a 3-point specialist in extremely deep leagues. On such a busy Friday night, there should be much better options available to slide into your active roster. Mar 27 - 5:34 PM

Magic head coach James Borrego praised Dewayne Dedmon's effort on the defensive end during a recent interview.

"He gives us energy," Borrego said. "He gives us an edge. He gives us toughness. He challenges shots, passes. And then we have another big guy right next to him there to clog the paint and challenge shots. The length of those two, the size, is a good combination for us defensively." It sounds like Dedmon will remain in the starting lineup as the Magic close out their season, but with averages of just 4.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game as a starter, he can only be viewed as a rebounding and shot-blocking specialist in very deep leagues.
Mar 27 - 11:03 AM

Dewayne Dedmon returned from a three-game absence due to a sprained ankle on Wednesday, but didn't score.

He did have seven rebounds, a steal and a block, but with Nikola Vucevic healthy, it's going to be tough for Dedmon to sustain much consistency.
Mar 25 - 11:01 PM

Dewayne Dedmon (ankle) will start against the Hawks on Wednesday.

He should be ready to go with his minutes in the 20s. With his return, Channing Frye is at risk of losing playing time. Dedmon is capable of being a double-double guy with some blocks, so keep an eye on him. He's still not worth owning in most leagues.
Mar 25 - 5:18 PM

Dewayne Dedmon (ankle) is unlikely to play on Wednesday vs. the Hawks.

Dedmon has missed three straight games now, and it looks like the Magic will continue to be cautious on Wednesday. If Dedmon can't give it a go tonight, expect Andrew Nicholson, Channing Frye (illness) and Kyle O'Quinn to be in the mix for more minutes, though none of these players are viable options in standard leagues.

Dewayne Dedmon (ankle) will remain sidelined for Sunday's game vs. the Nuggets.

Channing Frye (illness) is also out tonight, which means Kyle O'Quinn, Andrew Nicholson and Aaron Gordon will combine to fill the void at power forward. O'Quinn would be the best option if he gets sufficient playing time, but Andrew Nicholson is also worth a look as Orlando's fill-in starter.

Dewayne Dedmon (ankle) is unlikely to suit up for Sunday's game vs. the Nuggets.

If he's unable to go on Sunday, it will be his third consecutive game on the sidelines, and Channing Frye will again be in the starting lineup. Frye can be viewed as a 3-point specialist in deep leagues, but he really doesn't bring anything else to the stat sheet.
Mar 22 - 4:18 PM

Dewayne Dedmon (ankle) will be a game-time decision on Sunday vs. the Nuggets.

Dedmon has been sidelined for the past two games which has forced the Magic to turn to the veteran Channing Frye, but he has been pretty underwhelming. We will let you know if Dedmon is cleared to play, and even though he would likely reclaim his spot in the starting lineup, he is only worth a look for owners in need of blocks and boards.
Mar 22 - 10:11 AM

Dewayne Dedmon (ankle) and Willie Green (back) have been ruled out for Friday's game vs. Portland.

With Dedmon out, Channing Frye will stick with the starting unit, with Kyle O'Quinn having the opportunity for extended minutes off the bench. Frye's good for some 3-pointers, but not much else, while O'Quinn has been irrelevant since December. Green's absence will give Ben Gordon the opportunity for some extended minutes off the bench, but he's been far too inconsistent this season to be considered an option in almost any league. Victor Oladipo will be forced into heavy minutes with the Orlando backcourt banged up.

Dewayne Dedmon's (ankle) status for Friday's game will be decided closer to tip-off.

If he's unable to go on Friday, Channing Frye will get another opportunity to start, but with a tough matchup vs. the Blazers he's not looking like a great option in most leagues. Kyle O'Quinn could also enter the rotation if Dedmon is out, but he too is an extremely risky option in most leagues.
Mar 20 - 10:23 AM

Dewayne Dedmon (ankle) will not play vs. the Mavericks on Wednesday.

He rolled an ankle during Tuesday's loss in Houston, and his absence will likely thrust Channing Frye into the starting PF spot. Nikola Vucevic will also be busy vs. Tyson Chandler and the Mavs' frontcourt. We're calling Dedmon questionable to return for Friday's home game vs. the Blazers.
Mar 18 - 6:39 PM

Dewayne Dedmon started Sunday's home game but had only three points and five rebounds in 18 minutes during a loss to Cleveland.

Dedmon is averaging only 4.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks over his past four games. That's the extent of his fantasy appeal and he's not worth the attention of standard-league owners despite his apparently firm grasp on the starting PF job.
Mar 15 - 8:54 PM

Dewayne Dedmon played 25 minutes in the starting lineup on Friday during a 95-88 loss to the Celtics, scoring five points with eight boards and one block.

He seems to be locked in as the starter and saw a noticeable jump in playing time. Dedmon is a blocks specialist and he can board, so he's potentially could be a piece in standard leagues. Of course, there is no need to grab him until he can actually prove he can consistently put those minutes to good use.
Mar 13 - 11:23 PM

Magic big man Dewayne Dedmon started Tuesday's game alongside Nikola Vucevic and had six points, eight rebounds and one block in a lopsided loss at Indiana.

He's starting ahead of Channing Frye and was coming off a career game on Sunday, when Vucevic was out, so he's at least earned the attention of deep-league owners. Indiana went small tonight, limiting Dedmon to just 17 minutes of action, but he should earn more playing time vs. the Bucks on Wednesday.
Mar 10 - 9:35 PM

Dewayne Dedmon will start alongside Nikola Vucevic for Tuesday's game vs. the Pacers.

Through three games with the starting unit, Dedmon has compiled averages of 8.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 1.0 block per game on 83.3 percent shooting from the field. He's worth a look for owners in deep leagues seeking some rebounding and shot blocking.
