Troy Daniels came out firing on Sunday with a game-high 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including a 6-of-9 mark from downtown.
The Hornets guard added six boards, one assist and one steal in 28 minutes, a nice bounce-back effort after shooting 4-of-12 on Saturday. He'll earn a guaranteed $947k to provide some backcourt depth and 3-point shooting for Charlotte next season. Jul 5 - 5:03 PM

The Hornets would like Troy Daniels to become a more well-rounded player.

"I’d like to see a total all-around game," Clifford said of Daniels. "He can really shoot and he’s learned how to find space to get his shots off. He’s worked really hard this summer at playing off the second dribble. Now I want to see it all; him knowing the defense, all of what we’re doing. He’ll get plenty of opportunities [in Orlando] in pick-and-rolls and catch-and-shoot." Daniels will be fighting for playing time with the likes of Nicolas Batum, P.J. Hairston and Jeremy Lamb, so it'll be difficult for him to earn enough minutes to be a difference maker in fantasy hoops. He won't be worth drafting in standard leagues.
Jul 3 - 10:50 AM

Free agent G Troy Daniels will join the Hornets' Summer League team in Orlando.

Daniels will make a guaranteed $947k next season. Mo Williams' probable departure in free agency bodes well for Daniels, but he'll still need to show substantial improvement to earn more than a handful of minutes for coach Steve Clifford.
Jun 30 - 8:37 PM

Troy Daniels scored a career-high 24 points against the Raptors on Wednesday, adding two rebounds, one assist and six 3-pointers.

Besides his huge shot in the playoffs last year, this is probably Daniels' best NBA moment. The Hornets gave him some minutes this month to show what he can do and they desperately need a 3-point shooter heading into next season, so maybe they give him a chance for minutes. He's not going to be worth drafting in almost any league for now.
Apr 15 - 9:46 PM

Troy Daniels scored 15 points during a 100-90 loss to the Rockets on Monday with one rebound, two assists, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers.

The Hornets are keeping Mo Williams out of the lineup, so Daniels has basically become the sixth man. He's potentially a big-time 3-point shooter with how he buried threes in the D-League last season, so he's worth a look in deep leagues for those hopeful to add three-plus treys off the wire in the finale.
Apr 13 - 11:50 PM

Hornets' G Troy Daniels played 28 minutes off the bench on Sunday, finishing with two points on 1-of-9 shooting, three rebounds, two assists and one steal.

He was coming off a 15-point performance in 20 minutes on Friday and P.J. Hairston (knee) is doubtful for Monday, so it looks like Daniels will be a staple of the second unit as the Hornets wrap up their season. He's a 38.3 percent shooter but is at least worth a look if you need a cheap source of 3-pointers.
Apr 12 - 6:22 PM

Troy Daniels scored 15 points in 20 minutes on Friday, hitting 5-of-10 shots (including three treys) with one rebound and one steal.

Daniels fits the description of a late-season scrub that goes off, but owners are really taking a chance relying on him after just one good game.
Apr 10 - 10:56 PM

Troy Daniels played just 16 seconds in his debut with the Hornets on Sunday.

It's hard to impress anyone with just 16 seconds left in the game, so hopefully the sharpshooter gets a better chance to prove himself in the future. Besides, he has to be more effective than Lance Stephenson, right?
Feb 22 - 10:52 PM

Troy Daniels is starting to show his worth in Minnesota, and he has recently drawn praise from coach Flip Saunders.

"He is going to have opportunities," coach Saunders said after Friday’s practice. "He brings something that we lack, perimeter shooting, the ability to stretch the floor a little bit." Daniels is going to be someone worth monitoring in deeper leagues for his ability to knock down 3-pointers, but until his role grows he can be left on the wire in most formats. Daniels scored 11 points in 13 minutes during Thursday's game so the upside is definitely there.
Jan 3 - 11:38 AM

Troy Daniels could be in line for an increase in minutes this week.

After scoring 14 points in five minutes on Saturday, Flip Saunders said, "He shoots the basketball, I probably should have found a way to put him in sooner." Daniels is a guy who can rack up threes in a hurry, but that's about all he brings to the table for fantasy owners. Unless he's getting sustainable minutes and a real role, he's going to be more miss than hit.

Troy Daniels scored 14 points with four 3-pointers on 5-of-6 from the field in nine minutes against the Warriors on Saturday.

He scored all 14 of those points in the last five minutes of the game. Daniels isn't entrenched in the rotation yet, but coach Flip Saunders says it could be coming. Although, that could be moot with Kevin Martin (wrist) getting closer.

Wolves guard Troy Daniels didn't leave the bench until the final five minutes of Tuesday's loss in Cleveland.

Daniels hopes to be unleashed as a perimeter scorer in Minnesota, but for now Flip Saunders is content to bench him in favor of guys like Zach LaVine, Mo Williams and Chase Budinger. Daniels should eventually emerge with a reserve role, but he'll be too limited for use outside of the deepest leagues.

Troy Daniels said he is hoping to " get the green light" from the Wolves to shoot.

"I’m a shooter, so I have to do what I do, what got me here. Shoot the ball," Daniels said. "There will be a lot more threes. I can tell you that." The Wolves are dead last in triples, so they could use a guy like Daniels. Of course, he didn't score in his debut on Sunday, so he's only worth a look in very deep leagues. Coach Flip Saunders also mentioned Daniels won't get much playing time early on.
Mon, Dec 22, 2014 03:23:00 PM

Troy Daniels was scoreless in his very brief debut for the Timberwolves on Monday.

Daniels made a splash with the Rockets in last year's playoffs but he's had a hard time earning minutes this season, so a trade to Minnesota can only be a good thing. The Wolves' backcourt is banged up enough that Daniels is worth a look in very deep leagues, especially if you're hunting 3-pointers, but he's best-suited to the waiver wire in all other circumstances.
Sun, Dec 21, 2014 10:32:00 PM

Troy Daniels has been traded to the Wolves.

He was lighting it up int he D-League last year and also has a game-winning shot in the NBA playoffs last season, but Daniels isn't quite a lock for minutes once the team is at full strength. However, with Ricky Rubio (ankle) and Kevin Martin (wrist) out, he could get some run. Of course, he's only worth a look in extremely deep leagues.
