Troy Daniels played the best game of his NBA career during a 103-100 win over the Lakers on Saturday, scoring a career-high 31 points with two rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block and six 3-pointers in 34 minutes.
Hey now. On Thursday, coach David Fizdale said he's going to "use the heck out of him to get shots" and he wasn't lying. Daniels had a 30.1 usage rate with no turnovers and a 63.7 true shooting percentage. Fizdale also said Daniels wants him to have the "money green light" when he's hot, so it was definitely that color tonight. The Grizzlies are rolling with their Nasty Nine, so feel free to grab Daniels and use him until Chandler Parsons (knee) and James Ennis (calf) can return. His green light should be money green with four games next week. Dec 4 - 12:28 AM

Troy Daniels matched a season-high 19 points in 29 minutes against the Magic on Thursday, adding two rebounds, one assist and three 3-pointers.

On the heels of a 19-point Wednesday, this is the best two-game run of his career and the first time he's had consecutive games with at least 16 points. Daniels had his best game on defense, closed this one out, and clearly impressed his coach. "Whenever he’s out there, I’m going to use the heck out of him to get shots," coach Fizdale said. Fizdale also asked Daniels what color green light he should have when he gets to let it fly and Daniels said "money green." He may have some short-term value and is worth a look in deep leagues for owners needing treys.

Dec 2 - 12:51 AM

Troy Daniels came off the Grizzlies' bench to score 19 points in a loss on Wednesday, making 6-of-12 FGs and 3-of-3 FTs with four 3-pointers, one rebound, one assist and one steal.

Vince Carter was out tonight with a hip injury, joining a pile of injured Grizzlies that includes Mike Conley, Chandler Parsons, James Ennis and Brandan Wright. The result was 21 minutes for Daniels, who made the most of the opportunity. Most fantasy owners can take a wait-and-see approach here, especially while Carter is day-to-day.
Nov 30 - 11:15 PM

Troy Daniels was a DNP-CD against the Heat on Saturday.

He is likely going to remain out of the rotation unless the Grizzlies need threes in bunches. Daniels can be dropped almost everywhere.
Nov 27 - 12:29 AM

Troy Daniels (groin) is available to play against the Heat on Saturday.

We'll see what available to play means here, but Daniels isn't a lock to start. He had a bad game on Friday while Troy Williams had some productive minutes. We'll be looking for Memphis' starting lineup and post it ASAP.
Nov 26 - 7:11 PM

Troy Daniels (left groin) is questionable to play against the Heat on Saturday.

He started for the second time in a row on Friday, but it did not go well in his 19 minutes. If Daniels doesn't play, Troy Williams would be a good bet to start while Andrew Harrison could wind up getting 40 minutes tonight. Daniels has no fantasy value right now.
Nov 26 - 2:04 PM

Troy Daniels scored three points with three rebounds and one 3-pointer in 19 minutes on Friday.

Troy Williams played pretty well in the second unit, so Daniels may be bumped from the starting lineup. Although, they both might start on Saturday for the aging Tony Allen. Daniels isn't worth owning.
Nov 26 - 12:59 AM

Troy Daniels started on Wednesday and had six points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and a pair of 3-pointers in 23 minutes.

The Grizzlies don't have many options at SF while Chandler Parsons (knee) and James Ennis (calf) are both sidelined, especially since coach David Fizdale prefers to keep Vince Carter in his usual bench role. Troy Williams was originally expected to start but wound up coming off the bench, and most owners shouldn't trust either Williams or Daniels outside of very deep leagues.
Nov 23 - 11:28 PM

Updating a previous item, Troy Daniels started over Troy Williams against the 76ers on Wednesday.

Even the PA announcer called Troy Williams as the starter, so go figure. Daniels has a big opportunity with the lack of depth, but he's not a great fantasy option.
Nov 23 - 7:25 PM

Troy Daniels (left knee sprain) is listed as probable for the season opener.

Daniels suffered a left knee sprain during the preseason, but is progressing well and has returned to practice fully. He will officially be listed as probable for Wednesday night’s opener against Minnesota. Even when healthy, Daniels has no fantasy relevance.

Oct 25 - 6:39 PM

Troy Daniels (knee) is questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Wolves.

He has scored a total of six points through four preseason games. He will likely be rested Wednesday.
Oct 18 - 7:22 PM

Grizzlies coach David Fizdale said that Troy Daniels will have a role this season despite seeing limited minutes in the preseason.

"The one thing we know about him is he can shoot the heck out of the basketball. Troy is going to be a real important piece to our team," Fizdale said. "So I don’t need to overdo it with him." He's played a total of 12 minutes through two games and it's already been confirmed that Tony Allen will be the starting SG this season. At best, Daniels could emerge as a 3-point specialist in deeper leagues if he earns a larger role.
Oct 8 - 12:43 PM

Grizzlies acquired G Troy Daniels in a sign-and-trade deal with the Hornets.

Daniels will get a three-year, $10M deal to join his new team. The sharpshooter's representatives confirmed the details of the contract, and Charlotte will receive a $1.6M trade exception as a result of the deal. Per the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Daniels is expected to replace Lance Stephenson, "whom the Griz will not bring back."
Jul 11 - 9:34 AM

Troy Daniels is finalizing a three-year, $10 million deal with the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies do need some 3-pointers on the perimeter, so picking up Daniels addresses a need there. Daniels has a career 43.0 percentage from deep, but he's only played 10.0 minutes per game. He'll likely be out of the rotation to start the season.
Jul 9 - 7:52 PM

The Hornets have extended a qualifying offer to Troy Daniels.

Daniels will be a restricted free agent, and he'll likely see a slight pay increase with the salary cap spiked to $94 million. Daniels is capable of putting up the occasional high scoring outing, but he's not consistent enough to grab the attention of those in most leagues.
