P.J. Hairston will be active for Friday's game vs. the Bulls.
With Al Jefferson (knee) and Cody Zeller (shoulder) out, head coach Steve Clifford is forced to bring Hairston onto the active roster. He is however still behind Lance Stephenson and Gerald Henderson in the rotation, so there are no guarantees he even leaves the bench tonight. Hairston can safely remain on the waiver wire in most leagues. Mar 13 - 7:03 PM

Hornets coach Steve Clifford said that rookie P.J. Hairston "hasn't developed any way to play to make his teammates better."

Charlotte is jockeying for a playoff spot and Clifford's rotation has no room for player development, so we're unlikely to see Hairston or fellow rookie Noah Vonleh on the court in the season's final weeks.
Mar 4 - 12:15 AM

P.J. Hairston was inactive during Sunday's game due to a missed weight-training session.

According to two sources, Hairston missed a weight-training obligation and was subsequently put on the inactive list for Sunday's game. Hairston was also made inactive for a game in December after an unexcused absence from practice, so this isn't his first transgression of his rookie season. The rookie has only suited up for one of the Hornets' last 10 games, so he can be left on the wire in all but the deepest fantasy leagues at this point.
Mar 3 - 10:20 AM

Hornets rookie P.J. Hairston came off the bench to score a career-high 16 points on 6-of-16 shooting in 27 minutes of action, while shooting 4-of-9 from downtown.

He hadn't played in February before this sudden outburst, which was a direct consequence of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's absence with a hamstring strain. Gerald Henderson is playing well as a starter and reserve guard Lance Stephenson is fully healthy, so Hairston's rest-of-season outlook is far too shaky to bother with him in most leagues.
Feb 10 - 9:37 PM

P.J. Hairston is dealing with a minor sprained left ankle, but he is expected to play against the Nuggets on Saturday.

While he should see a slightly larger role off the bench due to Kemba Walker's knee injury, Hairston is only worth a look in really deep leagues for owners in need of 3-pointers. We will let you know if his status changes prior to tip-off.
Jan 31 - 1:07 PM

P.J. Hairston suffered a sprained left ankle on Friday at practice and it does not appear to be serious.

He seems to be probable for Saturday to face the Nuggets. Hairston will be in the rotation for the Hornets now that they're without Kemba Walker. However, he's not going to have much fantasy value unless Lance Stephenson needs to miss time for whatever reason.
Jan 30 - 3:05 PM

P.J. Hairston had been fined $5,000 for violating the NBA's anti-flopping rules for the second time this season during Wednesday's loss to the Spurs.

The NBA may want to use Hairston's flop (video in the link below) as an example in future rules videos as the rookie got his money's worth with this one. Hairston won't face a suspension from the league for his flop, but he can still be safely left on waivers as he won't see enough minutes playing behind Lance Stephenson and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

P.J. Hairston matched his career high with 15 points against the Knicks on Saturday with four rebounds, one assist, one steal and three 3-pointers in 22 minutes.

This actually wasn't a garbage-time special with only five points coming in the fourth quarter. Hairston is still not going to get too many minutes and can be left on the wire in most leagues.
Jan 10 - 3:57 PM

P.J. Hairston (illness) will play vs. the Knicks on Saturday.

He has had a limited role even with Lance Stephenson (hip) sidelined so there is no need to pick him up in almost any league.
Jan 10 - 10:49 AM

P.J. Hairston (illness) is questionable to play against the Knicks on Saturday.

He's only playing around 10 minutes per game since the Lance Stephenson (groin) injury, so Hairston isn't really a fantasy option, especially since he's made just 30.7 percent from the field on the season.
Jan 9 - 3:59 PM

P.J. Hairston (illness) will not suit up for Thursday's game against the Raptors.

He's barely a part of the Hornets' rotation, so this news doesn't have too much fantasy implications. Look for Gary Neal and Gerald Henderson to pick up most of his reserve minutes, with Henderson offering the most upside.

Bobcats head coach Steve Clifford said P.J. Hairston will suit up on Friday after being benched on Wednesday for missing practice.

Hairston's benching stemmed from an unexcused absence during Tuesday's practice, but it sounds like he may be out of the doghouse in time for Friday's game against Memphis. His return to the lineup will put a small dent in the fantasy value of Gary Neal and Gerald Henderson, while Hairston can be left on waivers in standard fantasy leagues.

Hornets rookie P.J. Hairston will not play on Wednesday after an unexcused absence during Tuesday's practice.

The circumstances of Hairston's missed practice aren't clear but it's not surprising to see the Hornets penalize him with a DNP. He should be ready to go vs. the Grizzlies on Friday, and in his absence a few more minutes will be available for Gary Neal and Gerald Henderson.

P.J. Hairston scored a career-high 15 points against the Hawks on Saturday with four rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers.

He played well off the bench but most of his damage was done in garbage time. The Hornets are dying for an outside shooter, but Hairston is not really the catch-and-shoot guy they need. He's not a fantasy option right now.
Sun, Nov 30, 2014 01:55:00 AM

P.J. Hairston scored 15 points in 27 minutes off of the bench on Saturday to go with four rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers.

The game was a blowout from the start which explains why he got so many minutes, so owners shouldn't overreact to this stat line. Gary Neal (shoulder) is still without a timetable and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (foot) is still sidelined, so owners in very deep leagues in need of 3-pointers can give Hairston a look.
