P.J. Hairston (elbow) came off the bench on Sunday for nine points, three 3-pointers, three rebounds, two steals and one assist.
The second-year swingman had 20 points and 10 rebounds on Jan. 23, but his role has been decimated by Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's return to the starting lineup. Hairston logged 20 minutes tonight but that's largely due to garbage time -- he wasn't worth owning as a starter, which says plenty about his appeal as a reserve. Feb 1 - 12:22 AM

Date:

P.J. Hairston (elbow) will play on Sunday vs. the Lakers.

He was listed as probable, but he is only going to play limited minutes off the bench now that Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is healthy. Leave Hairston on the wire.

P.J. Hairston (elbow) is probable to play against the Lakers on Sunday.

Now that Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is back, Hairston was going to lose a ton of his minutes. However, he might have a chance to play with Nicholas Batum (toe) out. He's still not a fantasy option.
Jan 30 - 6:52 PM

P.J. Hairston left Friday's game vs. the Blazers with a left elbow bruise, and he will not return.

Hairston will end his evening with just two boards, one block, one turnover and zero points on 0-of-2 shooting through 14 minutes of play. Hairston has been sent to the bench with the return of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, so there's no reason to own him in any format. We'll consider him questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Lakers, and if he can't give it a go, Nicolas Batum and MKG will be forced into heavy minutes for the injury depleted Hornets.

P.J. Hairston scored a career-high 20 points during a 97-84 win over the Knicks on Saturday, adding 10 rebounds, one assist, two steals and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes.

Only six of his points were in garbage time, so it isn't something to totally disregard. Nicolas Batum (toe) was in a walking boot today, so Hairston should have some sort of value in the short term. He entered tonight making just 36.0 percent from the field and he doesn't really do much outside of score, so there's no need to add him anywhere.
Jan 23 - 10:38 PM

P.J. Hairston logged 22 minutes on Wednesday but finished with only four rebounds, two assists, and as many fouls (five) as points.

Steve Clifford hasn't been happy with his team's tendency to launch ill-advised 3-pointers this season -- Charlotte ranks third in 3-pointers made (10.1 per game) but they're just 15th in 3-point percentage (35.1 percent). Hairston didn't earn any points with his coach tonight, going 1-of-6 beyond the arc in the Hornets' home loss.

P.J. Hairston scored 10 points with six rebounds, two assists, two 3-pointers and one turnover in 19 minutes against the Wizards on Saturday.

He had some cramping issues and was able to return after a brief trip to the locker room. Hairston is really just a starting to help the Hornets keep Nic Batum's fouls down, but he's actually played really well in his last three. He is still only worth a look 20-team leagues, but this current run is the best of his career.

Charlotte coach Steve Clifford said that he starts P.J. Hairston at small forward for his defense.

"He has the size and strength to guard primary scorers," Clifford said Thursday. "You have to have those guys. He is technically getting better. He’s bright. He’s been here now, so he knows what we’re doing." Hairston has come a long way on the defensive end this season, but more than anything it's his effort that has improved. Hairston has also been solid on offense recently with two straight 14-point performances with seven combined 3-pointers in those games, so owners in deeper leagues should put him on their radar to see if he can keep it up.

P.J. Hairston had one of his best games of the year against the Raptors on Thursday, scoring 14 points with four rebounds and four 3-pointers.

He hit a clutch three in overtime to help his team earn a win during his 34 minutes of action. Hairston had another nice game on Wednesday with 14 points, but he's been awful for most of his career. Leave him on the wire, especially with Nicolas Batum (illness) likely back for the weekend.

P.J. Hairston scored a season-high 14 points during Wednesday's loss, which he exited due to a sore right foot.

He hit 5-of-11 shots with three 3-pointers, two rebounds and one steal in 22 minutes, just the sixth time this year that he's logged 20+ minutes in a game. Despite his starting job, Hairston is a non-entity outside of the deepest leagues. Nicolas Batum (illness) is also questionable for Wednesday, leaving a potentially huge hole in the Hornets' starting lineup.
Wed, Dec 16, 2015 10:10:00 PM

P.J. Hairston has a sore right foot and did return on Wednesday.

If he has some lingering issue, that would mean more minutes for Jeremy Lamb and Jeremy Lin. Hairston has almost no value in the starting lineup for fantasy. Lin started the second half.
Wed, Dec 16, 2015 08:15:00 PM

P.J. Hairston played only five minutes vs. Golden State on Wednesday, going scoreless with one assist, one block and no other stats.

The second-year swingman wound up with a season-low for playing time and was replaced by Jeremy Lamb to begin the second half. He's a non-entity in all but the deepest fantasy leagues, despite starting, so this shouldn't affect any lineups.
Wed, Dec 2, 2015 10:23:00 PM

P.J. Hairston played 19 minutes against the Cavs on Friday with two points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal.

He had a head injury due to an elbow shot, but he was never diagnosed with a concussion. Hairston won't be playing much in the starting lineup and is only worth a look in deep leagues.
Fri, Nov 27, 2015 10:14:00 PM

P.J. Hairston (head) is not on the injury report for Friday's game against the Cavs.

His head injury from Wednesday seems like it's behind him. Hairston should be in the starting lineup, but probably won't get more than 16-22 minutes tonight. He is only worth a look in very deep leagues.
Fri, Nov 27, 2015 04:34:00 PM

P.J. Hairston exited Wednesday's game after taking an elbow to his head, but the Hornets don't think he suffered a concussion.

Hairston will likely be tested further and we'll let you know if he's in danger of missing Friday's game. He continues to start because coach Steve Clifford doesn't feel Jeremy Lamb can defend the league's elite scorers, but a defensive-specialist role hasn't done him any favors for fantasy purposes.
