Bobcats head coach Steve Clifford said P.J. Hairston will suit up on Friday after being benched on Wednesday for missing practice.
Hairston's benching stemmed from an unexcused absence during Tuesday's practice, but it sounds like he may be out of the doghouse in time for Friday's game against Memphis. His return to the lineup will put a small dent in the fantasy value of Gary Neal and Gerald Henderson, while Hairston can be left on waivers in standard fantasy leagues. Dec 11 - 11:04 AM

Hornets rookie P.J. Hairston will not play on Wednesday after an unexcused absence during Tuesday's practice.

The circumstances of Hairston's missed practice aren't clear but it's not surprising to see the Hornets penalize him with a DNP. He should be ready to go vs. the Grizzlies on Friday, and in his absence a few more minutes will be available for Gary Neal and Gerald Henderson.
Dec 10 - 5:26 PM

P.J. Hairston scored a career-high 15 points against the Hawks on Saturday with four rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers.

He played well off the bench but most of his damage was done in garbage time. The Hornets are dying for an outside shooter, but Hairston is not really the catch-and-shoot guy they need. He's not a fantasy option right now.
Nov 30 - 1:55 AM

P.J. Hairston scored 15 points in 27 minutes off of the bench on Saturday to go with four rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers.

The game was a blowout from the start which explains why he got so many minutes, so owners shouldn't overreact to this stat line. Gary Neal (shoulder) is still without a timetable and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (foot) is still sidelined, so owners in very deep leagues in need of 3-pointers can give Hairston a look.
Nov 29 - 10:30 PM

P.J. Hairston returned to action on Friday with eight points, four rebounds, one block and two 3-pointers in 19 minutes.

The Hornets needed some help on the wing, but Hairston forcing shots is going to make it tough for him to get consistent minutes. He's only an option in very deep leagues.
Nov 28 - 10:47 PM

P.J. Hairston (thumb) will play on Friday against the Warriors.

He is not in the good graces of coach Steve Clifford and is unlikely to get minutes over 20 even with the Hornets a bit shorthanded. Hairston is not a great fantasy option.
Nov 28 - 4:50 PM

P.J. Hairston (thumb) is expected to play Friday vs. the Warriors.

Hairston sprained his thumb during his last outing, but plugged-in beat reporter Rick Bonnell is speculating that he will give it a go tonight. He's seen some increased opportunity with Gary Neal (shoulder) and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (foot) both sidelined, but that hasn't translated statistically, and he's not worth using in most leagues.
Nov 28 - 1:05 PM

Hornets rookie P.J. Hairston returned on Wednesday with three points, two rebounds and two turnovers in 21 minutes off the bench, but he sprained his thumb and left the arena with a brace.

The absence of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (foot) and Gary Neal (shoulder) opened up more opportunities for Hairston and Gerald Henderson, but Hairston isn't worth fantasy attention unless you're desperate for 3-pointers. He's averaging 5.4 points, 1.3 triples, 1.4 rebounds and very little else in 14 minutes per game this season, while shooting 37.8 percent from the field. We're considering him day-to-day with his thumb injury.
Nov 26 - 9:35 PM

P.J. Hairston (ankle) is active against the Blazers on Wednesday.

He is not expected to see major minutes, but he should definitely be in the rotation with Gary Neal (shoulder) out tonight. Hairston is not a fantasy option.
Nov 26 - 6:21 PM

P.J. Hairston is expected to play on Wednesday despite a sprained ankle.

He started a game recently but was disappointing, so we're not expecting much from him tonight, either, despite the absence of Gary Neal (shoulder).
Nov 26 - 11:24 AM

P.J. Hairston (ankle) is being listed as probable for Wednesday's game vs. Portland.

Hairston could see some extended run with Gary Neal (shoulder) listed as doubtful, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (foot) out for Wednesday's game. However, Hairston is averaging just 6.0 points and 1.5 three-pointers as a starter, so there's not much to like here.
Nov 25 - 4:36 PM

P.J. Hairston (ankle) will not play against the Clippers on Monday.

For some reason they upgraded him to questionable, but they're pulling him out 90 minutes before the game. Hairston was losing ground in his brief opportunity, so he's unlikely to be a key contributor. Gary Neal and Gerald Henderson are low-end plays tonight.
Nov 24 - 5:28 PM

P.J. Hairston (ankle) is now listed as questionable on Monday to face the Clippers.

He's been limited in practice and it would be a surprise to see him on the court. It will likely be Gerald Henderson and Gary Neal getting most of the minutes on the wing next to Lance Stephenson. Hairston can be left on the wire in just about all leagues.
Nov 24 - 5:06 PM

P.J. Hairston (ankle) won't play on Sunday and is doubtful for Monday's game vs. the Clippers.

Hairston was gaining some momentum with the Hornets' short on healthy swingmen, but the rookie went down himself on Monday and needs a few more days to recuperate. He could return Wednesday vs. the Trail Blazers, but would still face significant competition from Gary Neal and Gerald Henderson.
Nov 22 - 2:11 PM

P.J. Hairston (ankle) will not suit up for Friday's game vs. the Magic.

This will be Hairston's second consecutive missed game, but he really wasn't doing much when he was healthy. Gerald Henderson will likely draw another start on Friday with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (foot) also sidelined, and he'll look to bounce-back from a scoreless performance vs. the Pacers on Wednesday. Hairston doesn't offer enough upside to be worth a stash, and he can be cut in most leagues.
