P.J. Hairston (groin) made his return to action on Friday, logging six minutes off the bench and ending his night with two points and one steal.
He hadn't played since March 15 prior to tonight, so expect the Grizzlies to bring him along slowly. He belongs on the waiver wire in all leagues. Apr 9 - 12:59 AM

Date:

P.J. Hairston (groin) will be available for Friday's game against the Mavericks.

Hairston is off the team's injury report and will be available for Friday's game against Dallas. While it will help the Grizzlies to have him back, Hairston has been out since March 15 and can be left on waivers in most fantasy leagues.

P.J. Hairston (hamstring) will miss Tuesday's game against the Bulls.

Hairston is reportedly nearing a return, but will be unable to suit up against the Bulls on Tuesday. While Hairston could return before the end of the regular season, he can be left on waivers in all fantasy leagues.
Apr 5 - 12:03 PM

Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger expects P.J. Hairston (hamstring) to return this season.

Joerger was asked about injured players potentially returning this season and Hairston was on his short list. "I think we'll see P.J. again," Joerger said. Hairston has been out since March 15 and seems to be close to returning after an extensive workout on Sunday before the Grizzlies' loss to Orlando. Hairston's return potential return will boost a Grizzlies squad struggling to hold onto playoff spot, but he can be ignored in standard fantasy leagues.
Apr 5 - 9:56 AM

P.J. Hairston (strained left groin) is still out indefinitely.

Hairston was supposed to be re-evaluated in late March but there have been no updates on his status. It seems likely that he's done for the regular season, with his minutes being soaked up by Lance Stephenson, Vince Carter and Tony Allen.
Apr 3 - 8:48 PM

P.J. Hairston (groin) will miss the next 7-10 days and doesn't have a timetable to return.

He is going to be re-evaluated after that 7-10 day span, so he's looking at a lengthy absence. With Hairston out, there should be more minutes on the wing for Matt Barnes and Tony Allen. Lance Stephenson has also been effective at the point.

P.J. Hairston (left groin) will not suit up for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves, as expected.

Hairston is likely to spend the next two weeks on the sidelines as he recovers from a groin injury, so he can safely be sent back to the waiver wire in all leagues. With Vince Carter (calf) and Lance Stephenson (wrist) questionable for Wednesday’s game, Ray McCallum, Briante Weber and newly signed Xavier Munford could be forced into extra minutes against the Timberwolves, with McCallum offering the most upside. Matt Barnes and Tony Allen should carry the load on the wings.

P.J. Hairston (left groin strain) could miss a couple weeks of action.

Wow. The Grizzlies continue to be devastated by injuries which explains why they will sign another player to a 10-day contract in Xavier Munford. With Hairston on the shelf, Tony Allen and Ray McCallum will have to step up while hopefully Lance Stephenson (wrist) and Vince Carter (calf) will be able to return soon.
Mar 15 - 7:50 PM

P.J. Hairston (left groin strain) will not return on Monday vs. the Rockets.

The Grizzlies just can't catch a break and are down to eight active players. He finished with six points, two assists and two boards in 18 minutes. If Hairston misses time, Ray McCallum and Tony Allen will have to play even more minutes.
Mar 14 - 10:19 PM

P.J. Hairston was limited to two points on 1-of-8 shooting in 25 bench minutes vs. Boston on Wednesday, adding three boards and one steal without any turnovers.

With Tony Allen (knee) and Matt Barnes (hamstring) both healthy, it was inevitable that Hairston would be demoted. Lance Stephenson and Vince Carter both played north of 20 minutes tonight, and there's simply no reason to approach Hairston in fantasy leagues.
Mar 9 - 10:19 PM

P.J. Hairston will come off the bench for Wednesday's game against the Celtics.

The Grizzlies will go with a starting five of Mario Chalmers, Tony Allen, Matt Barnes, JaMychal Green and Ryan Hollins for Wednesday's game, and the demotion to the second-unit will queue the end of Hairston's run as a semi-relevant name in fantasy hoops. Leave him on the wire.

P.J. Hairston earned another start at SG on Wednesday and posted six points, three rebounds, two assists and one block, making just 2-of-8 shots without any 3-pointers.

Over the weekend, Tony Allen (sore knee) declared himself "basically day-to-day," but he missed his sixth straight game tonight. Hairston had some defensive lapses tonight and he'll likely cede the starting job to Allen once he's healthy, which is just another reason to leave him unowned.
Mar 3 - 12:32 AM

P.J. Hairston scored four points with two rebounds and one 3-pointer in 24 minutes against the Suns on Saturday.

His big 21-point game was obviously a fluke. If you added Hairston after that one, you can drop him unless you're in a very deep league.
Feb 28 - 12:42 AM

P.J. Hairston scored a career-high 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting during an easy win over the Lakers on Friday, to go with four rebounds, five 3-pointers, one steal and three turnovers in 30 minutes.

Hairston has played very well over the past two games as the starting two-guard in Memphis, owning averages of 19.0 points, 4.5 3-pointers, 3.0 boards, 1.0 steal and 1.5 turnovers on 59.1 percent shooting. However, it needs to be noted that those productive outings have come while going up against a porous Lakers’ defense, and his minutes figure to take a substantial hit upon the return of Tony Allen (knee). He's only worth a look in extremely deep leagues.
Feb 27 - 1:07 AM

P.J. Hairston started again on Wednesday and scored 17 points vs. the Lakers, making 5-of-9 shots with four 3-pointers, two rebounds, two assists and one steal.

He did his damage in just 23 minutes and this should be viewed with skepticism, as it came in an offensive shootout vs. the Lakers' defense. Hairston may not be starting much longer, since Tony Allen (knee) is day-to-day, and he belongs on the wire outside of deep leagues.
