Tyler Ennis has agreed to a two-year deal with the Lakers for the veteran's minimum.
Ennis will serve as the third-string point guard on the roster, and perhaps he'll have a bit of a mentorship role with Lonzo Ball, but he won't be on the floor enough to have any sort of impact in fantasy hoops. Ennis' contract carries a team option on Year-2, which gives the Lakers some more flexibility for free agency in 2018. Jul 25 - 4:42 PM

Tyler Ennis could be the Lakers next target after Rajon Rondo chose to join the Pelicans.

Ennis played well for the Lakers after his trade from Houston last season, averaging a career-high 7.7 points on 45.1 percent shooting with 2.4 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.0 triples. He's also entering his age-23 season, so he'd fit in well with the Lakers rebuilding. Ian Clark and Rodney Stuckey are two more names that have been floated around as possible targets, but the Lakers interest has not been considered as strong.

The Lakers are "leaning toward re-signing Tyler Ennis," according to Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times.

It makes sense given the Lakers want to limit their financial commitments, and Ennis' market, despite surprisingly good play down the stretch of the 2016-17 campaign, isn't expected to be robust. If re-signed, Ennis would slide behind rookie Lonzo Ball on the depth chart assuming Jordan Clarkson spends most of his time at shooting guard.
Jun 30 - 6:37 PM

Tyler Ennis finished with 14 points, five assists and a blocked shot while dropping in two 3-pointers in Wednesday's 109-94 loss at Golden State.

The Lakers gave Ennis a long look down the stretch and he certainly was more than capable. He scored 11 or more points in seven of his final 10 games while hitting 17 3-pointers during the audition. Ennis isn't likely to be relied upon as a starter, but he should have a role in the team's rotation heading into 2017-18.
Apr 13 - 1:56 AM

Tyler Ennis and Jordan Clarkson will be the starting backcourt against the Warriors on Wednesday.

No Metta World Peace this time around. Ennis should be looking at some heavy minutes as the main beneficiary from D'Angelo Russell not playing.
Apr 12 - 9:51 PM

Tyler Ennis scored a career-high 20 points in 23 minutes on Sunday, making 7-of-9 shots with four 3-pointers, five assists, two rebounds and one block in 23 minutes.

Ennis scored a career-best 19 points on Wednesday, with D'Angelo Russell (knee) out of commission. He played 23 minutes off the bench tonight and it's unrealistic to think that he'll be this efficient in L.A.'s final games on Tuesday (vs. the Pelicans) or Wednesday (at the Warriors). Consider your alternatives carefully before adding Ennis in standard leagues.
Apr 10 - 12:18 AM

Tyler Ennis returned to the bench on Friday vs. the Kings and scored four points with two assists, one rebound and one steal in 24 minutes.

After scoring a career-high 19 points with six assists, two steals and three 3-pointers in 39 minutes as a starter against the Spurs on Wednesday, Ennis was invisible with D'Angelo Russell (knee) back in the lineup. Leave him on the wire unless Russell gets a maintenance day.
Apr 8 - 1:15 AM

Tyler Ennis scored a career-high 19 points with six assists, two steals and three 3-pointers in 39 minutes as a starter against the Spurs on Wednesday.

Every season, there's always going to be a guy who does nothing all year, but he just gets heavy run in the final week of the year. With D'Angelo Russell (knee) and Jordan Clarkson (knee) banged up right now, it might be Ennis playing minutes in the upper 30s and being the primary ball handler the rest of the season. Both Russell and Clarkson's injuries are not serious, so Ennis is only worth a look as a speculative pickup. That could change if both are ruled out.
Apr 6 - 12:25 AM

Tyler Ennis will move into the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Spurs, with D'Angelo Russell (knee) unavailable.

This will be Ennis' first start this season, and he could have more coming his way with Russell hurting his knee. That being said, Ennis gets a tough matchup against the Spurs tonight, so he can't be viewed as much more than a potential punt play in daily leagues.
Apr 5 - 7:08 PM

Lakers coach Luke Walton wants Tyler Ennis to be more aggressive offensively.

Ennis is averaging 10.8 points on 9.2 field goal attempts over the Lakers last five games. However, the L.A. coaching staff wants him to shoot more frequently. "I keep telling him he needs to the shoot the ball when he’s open," Walton said. "His natural feel is to penetrate and try to create for someone else." Ennis said he will do his best to oblige. "When the whole team is telling you to be aggressive and shoot, it makes you feel a lot more comfortable," Ennis said. Ennis should only be considered as an add in deep leagues.
Apr 4 - 9:56 AM

Tyler Ennis took advantage of expanded minutes on Sunday to post a season-high 14 points (6-of-15 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs) with five assists, four steals and three rebounds in 26 minutes.

Ennis was a big winner in the rotation tonight as the only true guard in the second unit. He hit season-highs in nearly every category and benefited from L.A.'s unusual rotations in a blowout loss without Brandon Ingram (knee). We'll need to see a few more solid performances before approaching him as a fantasy pickup.
Mar 27 - 12:53 AM

Tyler Ennis (left shoulder) will be available to play Tuesday vs. the Clippers.

Ennis tweaked his shoulder during Monday's practice, but it's not going to be something that forces him to the sidelines. That being said, Ennis has been a non-factor in the rotation as of late, so whether he plays or not will be irrelevant in fantasy hoops.
Mar 21 - 2:19 PM

Tyler Ennis tweaked his left shoulder during Monday's practice and he'll be re-evaluated on Tuesday.

Ennis wasn't able to finish the scrimmage portion of Monday's practice following the shoulder tweak, so there's a chance he could be forced to the sidelines on Tuesday night. That being said, Ennis has been a negligible part of the rotation over the past three, so his potential absence from the rotation won't have any real consequences in fantasy hoops.
Mar 20 - 4:15 PM

Tyler Ennis played 16 minutes off the bench on Sunday, finishing with eight points on 3-of-5 shooting, two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer.

Ennis was initially reported as the starter in place of Nick Young, but that honor went to David Nwaba instead. Nwaba also played 16 minutes tonight so there's no big reason to favor one of these guys over the other in deep leagues -- Ennis might get the edge since he's on a guaranteed contract, while Nwaba is on a 10-day deal.
Mar 13 - 1:00 AM

Tyler Ennis scored five points in his Lakers' debut on Sunday, adding one rebound, one 3-pointer, two assists and one steal in eight minutes off the bench.

As long as Jordan Clarkson and D'Angelo Russell are healthy, Ennis will remain a non-factor in fantasy hoops.
