Kyle Anderson said that he's focused on improving as a shooter this offseason and implied that he may be playing more minutes next season.
"It's a bunch of things, really [I'm working to improve]," Anderson said. "I would say shooting is a big focal point, getting stronger, playing longer stretches of minutes. I'm not sure. There's a bunch of things we're working on." With the departure of David West, Boris Diaw and Tim Duncan, Anderson could step into a larger role for San Antonio, playing stints as both Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge's backup, although his fantasy value will still be limited to very deep leagues. Kyle Anderson had another superlative performance on Sunday, posting a game-high 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting with three 3-pointers, four rebounds, two assists and two turnovers in 29 minutes.

Anderson said before the game, "I'm not coming out here to win the [Summer League] MVP or stuff stats...I'm coming out here to play basketball." As it happens he's doing both, and is a serious contender to win back-to-back Summer League MVP awards. Even if he does earn more than the 16.0 minutes he averaged last season, Anderson is only worth a look in deep fantasy leagues.
Jul 11 - 12:13 AM

Kyle Anderson filled it up yet again on Thursday with 23 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, three steals, one block and two turnovers against the Celtics on Thursday.

The NBA changed the Finals MVP award to honor Bill Russell, but they might want to honor the Summer League MVP to honor Anderson. He's been awesome for two years in a row and is coming off a 23-point Tuesday. He won the MVP in Vegas last year and has been the best player this month yet again. Still, Anderson's path to minutes during the season won't be promising while Kawhi Leonard is healthy.
Jul 7 - 9:05 PM

Kyle Anderson scored 23 points with eight rebounds, three assists, three steals, three blocks and three triples in a win over the 76ers on Tuesday.

Slo-Mo looked excellent once again, filling the stat sheet and shooting 10-of-17 from the field, but he did miss all three of his free throws and turned the ball over five times. Anderson scored 25 points with seven rebounds, three assists, four steals and two treys on Saturday, but this isn't a surprise considering he was the MVP at the summer league in Vegas last season. The Spurs have lost quite a few players this summer including Boris Diaw and David West, so you have to think that Anderson has at least earned himself a few more minutes in the rotation next season.
Jul 5 - 7:12 PM

Kyle Anderson looked like a superstar in a win over the Jazz on Monday, scoring 25 points with seven rebounds, three assists, four steals, two turnovers and two 3-pointers.

He is just too good for Summer League. Anderson won the Las Vegas Summer League MVP last year with the Spurs winning the title. He was 10-of-16 from the field during this game and just couldn't be stopped. As great as he is in Summer League, Slo-Mo doesn't have much value in fantasy while the Spurs are healthy.
Jul 4 - 11:06 PM

Kyle Anderson will remain a part of the rotation during the postseason.

"I’ve played him all year," coach Gregg Popovich said. "I don’t know why I’d change it now." Anderson appeared in 78 games this season and his numbers were up across the board, averaging 4.5 points, 3.1 boards, 1.6 assists and 0.8 steals in 16.0 minutes, and he went off in the regular-season finale with 15 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and five steals in 30 minutes of action with the Spurs resting their studs. "It’s been a good season for me," Anderson said. "I think I’ve grown and matured a bit. I feel like this is a new challenge, with the playoffs coming up. It’s another step to take."
Apr 15 - 10:05 AM

Kyle Anderson took advantage of an expanded role on Wednesday with 15 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and five steals in 30 minutes of action.

Slo-Mo was efficient with 6-of-10 field goals, including one 3-pointer, and he didn't turn the ball over during the Spurs' 96-91 road win. He's emerged as a consistent part of the rotation, but on such a loaded team his role is too limited for use in most fantasy formats.
Apr 14 - 12:34 AM

Kyle Anderson, Andre Miller, David West, Tim Duncan and Jonathon Simmons are starting against the Nuggets on Friday.

The Spurs are resting the other starters besides Duncan. Anderson should be busy with a lot of offense running through him, so he's a nice DFS and streaming option.
Apr 8 - 8:26 PM

Kyle Anderson scored eight points with 11 rebounds, three assists and no turnovers in 20 minutes against the Warriors on Thursday.

It wasn't his best game, but he will have a big chance on Friday with the Spurs resting players. Keep him in mind as a stream or DFS play on Friday.
Apr 8 - 1:30 AM

Kyle Anderson will come off the bench against the Pelicans on Wednesday.

Kawhi Leonard (quad) is back for tonight. Leonard will likely be getting another game off, so Anderson could re-emerge with value at some point later this week.
Mar 30 - 6:57 PM

Kyle Anderson scored 13 points with three rebounds, seven assists, one block, four steals and one 3-pointer against the Grizzlies on Monday.

This is what DFS players were looking for. Anderson is capable of filling up the stat sheet, but he kind of flopped in his previous two starts with averages of 6.5 points, 4.0 boards, 1.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.5 treys. He should have value while Kawhi Leonard (quad) is out, but he does only have two more games this week.
Mar 29 - 12:33 AM

Kyle Anderson made a start for Kawhi Leonard (quad) on Friday with six points, three rebounds, one steal and one block.

That's a pretty big letdown in a big chance for him. Anderson is in a better spot on Saturday against the Thunder, so DFS owners shouldn't totally lose trust in Slo-Mo. Leonard has already been ruled out.
Mar 26 - 12:59 AM

Kyle Anderson will start Friday's game in place of Kawhi Leonard (quad).

Slo-Mo's averages in six starts aren't altogether promising -- 8.5 points, 0.3 threes, 4.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.3 blocks. Kawhi is day-to-day so Anderson should stay on the waiver wire in the vast majority of leagues.
Mar 25 - 6:56 PM

Kyle Anderson played well vs. the Kings on Saturday, scoring four points with seven boards, two assists, one block and one steal in 28 minutes.

Danny Green was rested and Jonathon Simmons started in his place, but Kyle Anderson started the second half. He doesn't play much when the Spurs are at full strength, but he's someone to keep in mind if coach Gregg Popovich rests his players a lot down the stretch.
Mar 5 - 11:31 PM

Kyle Anderson returned to the Spurs' bench on Wednesday, where he racked up 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting with eight boards, three assists and two steals.

Anderson's minutes stayed the same as when he was a starter, despite Kawhi Leonard's return tonight, which is great news for anyone deploying him in deep leagues. He's chipping in solid boards, assists and steals since the All-Star break, while shooting 62.5 percent from the field.
