Kyle Anderson said he's ready to step up with Danny Green (thigh) on the shelf.

"I’ve played this game for a long time and I feel I can play a lot of different positions," Anderson said. "If the coaches have faith in me, of course, I’m going to have faith in myself." Coach Gregg Popovich has been looking for more minutes for Anderson and added that the forward has a "good feel for the game," so he's the favorite to slide into the starting unit for the first three weeks of the season. The Spurs are the only team with four games in Week 1, so he's not a bad streaming option after scoring 10 points with four rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 20 minutes on Friday. On a side note, the Spurs exercised their team option to extend Anderson's contract on Friday.

Kyle Anderon scored 10 points with four rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 20 minutes during his start for Danny Green (quad) on Friday.

Coach Gregg Popovich is a mad scientist when it comes to replacing an injured starter, but most signs point to it being Anderson. The Spurs could obviously shift Kawhi Leonard over to the two and give themselves more size on the outside -- Anderson can guard most threes. Pop has also said he wanted to get Anderson more minutes, so this situation gives him a chance to do so. He's not a lock for consistent production, but give him a look if you have dead weight until things clear up.
Oct 22 - 12:40 AM

Kyle Anderson will start for Danny Green (thigh) on Friday night.

The position flexibility is helpful here and we might see Anderson run more stuff on offense. With Danny Green (thigh) possibly missing weeks, there is a chance here. He's been a little disappointing this month, so he's only a short-term option.
Oct 21 - 6:57 PM

The Spurs exercised their fourth-year option on Kyle Anderson.

This was a no-brainer for the Spurs. Anderson has been a letdown this month after coach Gregg Popovich said he has to find playing time for him. If Kawhi Leonard misses time, Anderson will be a hot fantasy add.
Oct 21 - 2:45 PM

Kyle Anderson scored six points with seven rebounds, one assist, two steals and one turnover in 18 minutes.

He might have a statue for Summer League play, but Anderson just hasn't done anything this month. Coach Gregg Popovich said he's going to have to find a way to get get Anderson minutes, but this sub-par month is taking the luster off him as a late-round pick.
Oct 14 - 11:16 PM

Patty Mills, Danny Green, Kyle Anderson, Livio Jean-Charles and LaMarcus Aldridge are listed as the starters on Wednesday.

That means Pau Gasol could be out, but obviously it's hard to trust the "listed as starters" when it comes to the Spurs. Regardless, this definitely feels like a Kyle Anderson kind of night.
Oct 12 - 6:14 PM

Kyle Anderson scored eight points during a 91-86 loss to the Suns on Monday, adding four rebounds, two assists, three steals, one block and two turnovers in 20 minutes.

Coach Gregg Popovich said he has to find a way to get Anderson minutes this year. He had some plays for drawn up for him tonight and his versatility in lineups should make it easier on Pop. While he does have some nice upside for stat-stuffing, it's tough to draft him in shallower leagues until we get a clear picture of where his minutes will come from.
Oct 4 - 12:34 AM

Coach Gregg Popovich said it's "pretty obvious" Kyle Anderson should play more.

Pop said Slo-Mo can play the three, four, and point guard. The coach also talked about the improvements in Anderson's shot, as well. Anderson has been arguably the best player at Summer League in the last two years and coach Popovich said he has to find a way to get him some run. With the Spurs somewhat thin up front, he's a sneaky late-round pick with upside.
Sep 28 - 3:02 PM

Kyle Anderson is expected to spend time at both forward spots this season.

This makes sense because the Spurs lost David West, Boris Diaw and Tim Duncan this summer, opening the door for Anderson to have a larger role in the second unit. He was one of the best players at the Vegas Summer League for the second straight year and should be able to flirt with minutes in the 20s. His upside is somewhat limited because he hit just 0.2 treys per game last season on a 32.4 percent clip, but he did have per-36 minute averages of 10.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.8 blocks. He's on the radar in deeper formats.
Sep 4 - 12:52 PM

Kyle Anderson said that he's focused on improving as a shooter this offseason and implied that he may be playing more minutes next season.

"It's a bunch of things, really [I'm working to improve]," Anderson said. "I would say shooting is a big focal point, getting stronger, playing longer stretches of minutes. I'm not sure. There's a bunch of things we're working on." With the departure of David West, Boris Diaw and Tim Duncan, Anderson could step into a larger role for San Antonio, playing stints as both Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge's backup, although his fantasy value will still be limited to very deep leagues.

Jul 13 - 10:54 AM

Kyle Anderson had another superlative performance on Sunday, posting a game-high 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting with three 3-pointers, four rebounds, two assists and two turnovers in 29 minutes.

Anderson said before the game, "I'm not coming out here to win the [Summer League] MVP or stuff stats...I'm coming out here to play basketball." As it happens he's doing both, and is a serious contender to win back-to-back Summer League MVP awards. Even if he does earn more than the 16.0 minutes he averaged last season, Anderson is only worth a look in deep fantasy leagues.
Jul 11 - 12:13 AM

Kyle Anderson filled it up yet again on Thursday with 23 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, three steals, one block and two turnovers against the Celtics on Thursday.

The NBA changed the Finals MVP award to honor Bill Russell, but they might want to honor the Summer League MVP to honor Anderson. He's been awesome for two years in a row and is coming off a 23-point Tuesday. He won the MVP in Vegas last year and has been the best player this month yet again. Still, Anderson's path to minutes during the season won't be promising while Kawhi Leonard is healthy.
Jul 7 - 9:05 PM

Kyle Anderson scored 23 points with eight rebounds, three assists, three steals, three blocks and three triples in a win over the 76ers on Tuesday.

Slo-Mo looked excellent once again, filling the stat sheet and shooting 10-of-17 from the field, but he did miss all three of his free throws and turned the ball over five times. Anderson scored 25 points with seven rebounds, three assists, four steals and two treys on Saturday, but this isn't a surprise considering he was the MVP at the summer league in Vegas last season. The Spurs have lost quite a few players this summer including Boris Diaw and David West, so you have to think that Anderson has at least earned himself a few more minutes in the rotation next season.
Jul 5 - 7:12 PM

Kyle Anderson looked like a superstar in a win over the Jazz on Monday, scoring 25 points with seven rebounds, three assists, four steals, two turnovers and two 3-pointers.

He is just too good for Summer League. Anderson won the Las Vegas Summer League MVP last year with the Spurs winning the title. He was 10-of-16 from the field during this game and just couldn't be stopped. As great as he is in Summer League, Slo-Mo doesn't have much value in fantasy while the Spurs are healthy.
