Wayne Selden was named to the All-NBA Summer League Second Team.
The Grizz finished with a 5-1 record in Las Vegas and Selden averaged 22.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals in 30.5 minutes. It was a very encouraging showing for Selden. However, with Memphis signing both Tyreke Evans and Ben McLemore this summer, it will be difficult for Selden to secure consistent minutes next season. Jul 18 - 1:00 PM

Date:

Wayne Selden finished the Grizzlies' elimination loss on Sunday 5-of-13 from the field for 13 points with four assists, three turnovers and two steals in 22 minutes.

Selden added a block tonight and overall he looked terrific in Vegas, especially as a scorer, putting up 24.6 points in his first five games. Vince Carter is gone and Tony Allen isn't a lock to return in free agency, but it'll still be hard for Selden to make an impact with Tyreke Evans and Ben McLemore coming to town.
Jul 16 - 8:07 PM

Wayne Selden scored 24 points during a 98-95 win over the Heat on Saturday, adding five rebounds, four assists and three turnovers in 33 minutes.

It was a great quarterfinal game with the Grizzlies earning the victory in double-overtime. Assuming he does play on Sunday against the Blazers, Selden should end the Las Vegas Summer League with the most total points. Selden did have a minor left ankle tweak in this game, but he played through the injury and even made an and-one bucket off the injury. He's not a lock for the rotation, but he is certainly helping himself as one of the best players in Vegas this year.
Jul 15 - 8:17 PM

Wayne Selden scored 33 points with four rebounds, two assists, one steal, three turnovers and three 3-pointers in a win over the Suns on Thursday.

He's been a top-five scorer in Vegas and continues to just get in the lane seemingly whenever he wants. Selden is going to have some more competition for minutes, but he looks like he'll have a chance to at least get in the rotation.
Jul 13 - 10:17 PM

Wayne Selden had a strong showing vs. the Kings in Las Vegas on Sunday, scoring 21 points (6-of-13 FGs, 7-of-8 FTs) with four assists, two rebounds, and three steals.

Selden was coming off a 28-point outburst on Saturday, but the obvious asterisk applies -- this is Summer League. Selden's fantasy role should be established well before typical fantasy drafts occur.
Jul 10 - 12:18 AM

Wayne Selden scored a game-high 28 points with six rebounds, two assists, three steals and four 3-pointers in a win over the Wizards on Saturday.

With most of his time in the D-League last year, Selden had a cup of coffee in the NBA with 14 games. The 22-year-old was in the rotation during the postseason, but he's still got some work to do before he locks down minutes.
Jul 8 - 6:16 PM

Grizzlies sign G Wayne Selden Jr.

It's a multi-year contract for the 22-year-old wing. Selden did actually get some postseason minutes for the Grizzlies last year, but it may be tougher for him to get run if Chandler Parsons (knee) can get out there.

Jul 1 - 5:00 PM

Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders is reporting that Wayne Selden has agreed to a two-year deal with the Grizzlies.

Memphis signed Selden in March and he appeared in 11 regular-season games for the Grizzlies, averaging 5.0 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists. He also started two playoff games, due to injuries in the Memphis backcourt. However, it is unlikely Selden makes much of a fantasy impact in 2017-18.
Jul 1 - 8:19 AM

Wayne Selden scored 10 points off the bench with two rebounds, one assist, one block and two 3-pointers in 28 minutes against the Spurs on Thursday.

The move to the bench worked for the Grizzlies and Selden was still able to make an impact in the second unit. He probably won't be playing this much in Game 4, so this line is probably close to his peak.
Apr 21 - 12:22 AM

Wayne Selden finished with five points, two assists and a rebound in 28 minutes off the bench in Sunday's loss against the Pistons.

Selden didn't do much with his opportunity, misfiring on seven of his nine field-goal attempts. Since the start of April he has played 23 or more minutes in each of his five outings, but he has really only had one nice shooting performance. Selden is averaging 7.8 points and 2.2 assists per game in five April games, making him worthy of fantasy attention only in the deepest of formats.
Apr 9 - 10:26 PM

Wayne Selden scored 10 points with one assist, two steals, one block and one triple in 24 minutes vs. the Spurs on Tuesday.

He came off the bench tonight with Vince Carter returning from a day of rest, but still got some decent burn with Tony Allen (eye) sitting this one out. Unless Allen sits on Wednesday vs. the Thunder, Selden can be left on the wire. Expect Allen to do everything in his power to suit up vs. Russell Westbrook.
Apr 5 - 1:08 AM

Wayne Selden will get bumped back to the bench for Tuesday's game vs. the Spurs.

Vince Carter (rest) will return on Tuesday. Selden has played a total of just eight minutes in the four games he has come off the bench this season. Leave him on waivers.
Apr 4 - 7:43 PM

Wayne Selden started in place of Vince Carter (rest) on Sunday to finish with five points, three assists, two rebounds and one steal in 27 minutes.

We've seen this act before. Selden has started four games this season but he averaged under 16 minutes in those appearances. He's a dubious fantasy option at any depth, even if the Grizzlies aggressively rest guys like Vince Carter and Tony Allen.
Apr 2 - 6:22 PM

Wayne Selden will start Sunday vs. the Lakers with Vince Carter (rest) unavailable.

Through four starts this season, Selden has only managed to produce averages of 5.0 points, 1.8 boards, and 1.0 triple per contest while seeing around 15.9 minutes a game, so him starting isn't all that exciting. Mike Conley, Tony Allen, James Ennis and Brandan Wright will join him the starting five tonight.

Wayne Selden started vs. the Pelicans on Tuesday and scored four points with two rebounds and one steal.

He logged 16 minutes and finished 2-of-6 from the field, but all four of his misses were from beyond the arc. It's not clear if Tony Allen (knee) will miss more time, but if Tuesday was any indication, Selden is only worth a look in the deepest of leagues.
