Doug McDermott (knee) is making good progress, and has ramped up his activities in the past week.
He has been shooting, riding a stationary bicycle, and will now start running in water when the stitches from last Saturday's arthroscopic surgery to remove a small meniscus in his right knee are taken out. McDermott said that he hopes to beat his timetable and make it back to the court soon, and we will be sure to monitor his status closely and provide any updates as needed. However, he is still far off of the radar in standard leagues and can be left on the wire. Dec 20 - 9:02 AM

Date:

Doug McDermott (knee) is hopeful that he'll be able to return in 3-6 weeks.

McDermott has been limited to walking, riding a stationary bike, and shooting. However, he was not a part of the rotation before going down, so his return will be meaningless to owners in standard leagues.
Dec 19 - 7:00 PM

Doug McDermott (knee) could have to rehab his knee for anywhere from 6-8 weeks.

This is devastating news for the rookie, and he will likely be sidelined until the All-Star Break. McDermott wasn't in the rotation before the injury, so his absence won't have a big impact in terms of fantasy. McDermott can be cut across the board.
Dec 13 - 8:44 PM

Doug McDermott had arthroscopic knee surgery on Friday and is out indefinitely.

It doesn't sound like a serious surgery and he could make it back before the All-Star break. McDermott has basically fallen out of the rotation anyway and can be cut in all leagues.

Dec 12 - 7:28 PM

Doug McDermott (knee) will not suit up for Friday's game vs. Portland.

He might have not even played if he was active. McDermott doesn't offer enough statistically to be considered an option in most leagues.
Dec 11 - 5:15 PM

Doug McDermott (knee) was not able to practice on Thursday, and is not likely to play Friday vs. Portland.

McDermott sees very limited minutes off the Bulls bench, so whether he plays or not should be of no concern to owners in standard leagues.
Dec 11 - 3:23 PM

Doug McDermott (knee) will not play in Wednesday's game vs. the Nets.

He is not in the rotation for the Bulls and rarely sees more than a few minutes on the court when he is active. You can safely ignore Mcdermott on the waiver wire.
Dec 10 - 9:28 AM

Doug McDermott (knee) will not suit up for Wednesday's game vs. the Nets.

McDermott only gets minutes during garbage-time, so there's not much fantasy implications to him being inactive. Leave him on the wire.
Dec 9 - 4:29 PM

Doug McDermott (knee) will not play against the Warriors on Saturday.

His knee flared up on him in practice and he could miss more time. He might not even get on the court even if he's healthy because Nikola Mirotic has outplayed him so much. McDermott is only worth owning in very deep leagues.
Dec 6 - 6:25 PM

Doug McDermott (knee) could return on Saturday against the Warriors after participating in full at shootaround.

Even if he does play, he won't have a big enough role to be relevant in standard leagues. At best, McDermott will be an asset only in deeper leagues for his 3-point shooting.
Dec 6 - 12:18 PM

Doug McDermott (knee) is questionable to play on Saturday.

Even if he is active, McDermott might not play anyway. He has very little fantasy value with now.
Dec 5 - 3:24 PM

Doug McDermott (knee) went through a full practice on Friday, and is on track to play Saturday vs. the Warriors.

This won't mean much for fantasy owners as all of McDermott's averages are in the single digits. He can safely remain on the waiver wire in nearly all leagues.
Dec 5 - 2:13 PM

Doug McDermott (knee) will not play on Wednesday against the Hornets.

He must not have turned in a good warmup, but the Bulls don't need him anyway. McDermott is not worth owning in almost any league even with the injury to Taj Gibson (ankle).
Dec 3 - 6:05 PM

Doug McDermott (knee) is a game-time decision on Wednesday.

He is not on coach Tom Thibodeau's good side right now, so he might not play even if everything goes well in warmups. McDermott is not a great player to own in most leagues.
Dec 3 - 5:35 PM

Doug McDermott is targeting a return to action for Wednesday's game against Charlotte.

He said his knee injury was very minor, and he was spotted with a huge ice wrap on his right knee. While we hope McDermott is good to go, he should be ignored in most leagues until he gets more minutes in the rotation. Mike Dunleavy will get more run if McDermott can't play.
