Doug McDermott scored a season-high 23 points in 31 minutes on Sunday, making 9-of-13 field goals with two 3-pointers and three rebounds.
He also went 3-of-3 at the free throw line, but didn't have any assists, steals or blocks. This was a terrific turn of events if you were somehow playing him tonight, but he's still untouchable in the vast majority of fantasy leagues. Dec 10 - 11:37 PM

Doug McDermott scored 10 points with six rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block and two 3-pointers in 26 minutes against the Bulls on Saturday.

Revenge game? Before the game, coach Jeff Hornacek said something most wouldn't expect, saying McDermott is one of the best defenders on the Knicks. If you want to go off Synergy's tracking, that does check out with McDermott coming in at 84th percentile in halfcourt defense. His offense hasn't really been there and he's not really worth owning in standard leagues.
Dec 10 - 2:24 AM

Doug McDermott couldn't get anything to drop during Sunday's loss to the Magic, scoring four points on 1-of-7 shooting to go with five rebounds, three assists and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes.

McDermott could be flirting with minutes in the 30s while Tim Hardaway Jr. (leg) is out, but as you can see, the minutes don't always translate to value for McBuckets. He's worth keeping an eye on in deep leagues, but until he does something noteworthy, this is a situation that most fantasy GMs can watch from the waiver wire.
Dec 3 - 7:29 PM

Doug McDermott played a season-high 30 minutes with Kristaps Porzingis (ankle, elbow) injured on Wednesday, scoring 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

McDermott sank three 3-pointers for the second straight game, while adding two rebounds, one assist and one turnover. The absence of Porzingis was obviously key tonight, and we're not overreacting to his hot two-game stretch, which includes 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting on Tuesday. Most owners can take a wait-and-see approach, especially while KP is day-to-day.
Nov 8 - 10:34 PM

Doug McDermott came off the bench and hit 7-of-8 shots, 3-of-3 3-pointers and 3-of-3 free throws for a season-high 20 points, two rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes on Tuesday.

McBuckets just missed a perfect night, but some other stats (two rebounds, one assist) would have been nice. McDermott has hit double figures just four times in 10 games and would have had a much less impressive night had his shot not been automatic. Just keep an eye on him in case this is the start of a hot streak.
Nov 7 - 10:50 PM

Doug McDermott scored four points with three rebounds, four assists and one block in 24 minutes against the Thunder on Thursday.

He only attempted one shot from deep in this game, so it wasn't your typical McBuckets. He reportedly wasn't an option to start in this game and coach Jeff Hornacek may want him in the second unit due to the lack of shooting in that group. He's not a fantasy option in most leagues.
Oct 19 - 11:54 PM

Doug McDermott looked good offensively vs. the Wizards, scoring 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting, with a 4-of-6 mark from downtown.

McDermott played 24 minutes off the bench tonight, adding two rebounds and one assist, but this might be a case of too little, too late. Jeff Hornacek said recently that he likes a starting duo of Courtney Lee and Tim Hardaway Jr. on the wings, so it looks like McDermott will be relegated to backup duty. He doesn't project as more than a points-and-threes specialist, especially while Michael Beasley (elbow) and Mindaugas Kuzminskas (calf) are healthy.

Doug McDermott (sprained left index finger) has been ruled out for Monday's preseason game against the Rockets.

The Knicks are taking it easy on McBuckets for these exhibition games, but he should be good to go for the regular season opener. There are minutes available for McDermott in New York's rotation, but it's tough to see him having a meaningful impact in fantasy hoops this year based on his career averages of 8.0 points and 1.1 triples per contest.
Oct 9 - 6:21 PM

Doug McDermott sprained a finger during Sunday's game, but X-rays were negative and he finished with two points, one rebound, one assist and two turnovers in 13 minutes.

McDermott is a candidate to start for a Knicks team that lacks a clear-cut starting SF, but it's hard to be enthusiastic about his fantasy outlook. He's averaged 8.0 points and 1.1 triples in 20.2 minutes during his brief career, while adding just 2.3 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.2 steals and 0.1 blocks. The lack of supporting stats are hard to overcome in most formats.
Oct 8 - 10:40 PM

Doug McDermott scored nine points with two rebounds, one assist, and two 3-pointers in 20 minutes against the Wizards on Friday.

He had a chance to start this year, but those odds look to be dwindling due to some defensive deficiencies. McDermott doesn't do enough on the stat sheet to draft in most leagues.
Oct 6 - 10:25 PM

Doug McDermott was traded to the Knicks in the Carmelo Anthony deal.

That makes it three teams in eight months for McDermott. He joins a team that has some major question marks on the perimeter and coach Jeff Hornacek does like to push the pace. Still, McDermott was given a boatload of minutes at times late last year, but he couldn't do much with them. Maybe a new offense will help, but he's really not worth drafting in most leagues.
Sep 23 - 1:26 PM

Doug McDermott is looking to add more to his game.

"I try to add something each summer because I don’t want to stay the same player," McDermott said. The Thunder fixed one of their biggest issues, shooting, when they added Paul George, so McDermott will really need to add some versatility to his game. He'll have to fight for a rotation spot.

Aug 26 - 4:07 PM

Thunder general manager Sam Presti said Doug McDermott has the "versatility to play a little [power forward]" next season.

One of McDermott's goals this offseason is to "add strength without bulk," as he wants to match up with bigger players without sacrificing mobility. A career 39.4-percent 3-point shooter, he also said he wants to prove he's "more than a catch-and-shoot player" and wants to improve his perimeter defense. Enes Kanter is rumored to be on the trade block and Taj Gibson is a free agent this summer, so there's certainly a path to minutes if McDermott is able to play some four. His upside isn't the greatest, so fantasy owners shouldn't be expecting him to be more than a 3-point specialist at this stage of his career.

May 28 - 11:41 AM

Doug McDermott (knee) played three minutes during garbage time on Sunday, making one 3-pointer with no other stats to his credit.

McDermott checked in with his team down big with two minutes left. He's struggled with his shot since joining the Thunder, and there's no reason to think he'll emerge as a reliable rotation player in this series. He's off the injury report.
Apr 17 - 12:13 AM

Doug McDermott (knee) is listed as out for Wednesday against the Nuggets.

He will miss the final three games of the season due to knee soreness. McDermott's injury doesn't sound, serious, so he should be ready for the first round against the Rockets. For tonight, Norris Cole, Semaj Christon and Andre Roberson figure to get decent wing minutes.
