Doug McDermott scored 14 points off the bench during a 108-91 loss to the Hornets on Monday, adding three rebounds and one 3-pointer in 32 minutes.
He is going to pick up a nice amount of Jimmy Butler's (knee) playing time. Even with the extra run, McDermott just doesn't do anything else on the stat sheet except score and hit treys. Feb 8 - 9:34 PM

Doug McDermott scored eight points with three rebounds and no turnovers in 26 minutes against the Wolves on Saturday.

The minutes were there, but the shots were not with McBuckets going just 3-of-8 from the field. While he does benefit from Jimmy Butler (knee) missing time, it's not enough to grab him in most leagues.
Feb 6 - 11:58 PM

Doug McDermott scored 15 points with two rebounds and three 3-pointers in 25 minutes against the Nuggets on Friday.

He might be in line for more minutes because of the injury to Jimmy Butler (knee). McDermott is not a high-upside player because he only puts up points and treys, so he's not a great speculative add in standard leagues yet.
Feb 6 - 12:42 AM

Doug McDermott scored 11 points off the bench against the Kings on Wednesday with two rebounds and two 3-pointers.

He did look to suffer a right shoulder injury, but it was minor and he returned. McDermott did play 4.7 minutes at power forward tonight, which could be a realistic amount going forward. He is still only worth a look in deep leagues.
Feb 4 - 2:03 AM

Doug McDermott scored seven points with two rebounds and one 3-pointer in 19 minutes against the Jazz on Monday.

Thankfully, he only played one minute at power forward tonight. On Sunday, McDermott played a ridiculous 16 minutes at power forward, which makes zero sense. Of course, this did come against a Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert frontcourt tonight, so McBuckets losing run there tonight isn't the strongest indicator going forward. He's only worth a look in deep leagues regardless.
Feb 2 - 1:13 AM

Doug McDermott logged 21 minutes off the bench during Sunday's blowout loss to the Clippers, scoring six points on 2-of-7 shooting to go with two 3-pointers, one rebound and one turnover.

Unless you're in an extremely deep league and absolutely desperate for 3-pointers, McDermott isn't worth owning.
Jan 31 - 6:24 PM

Doug McDermott played 24 minutes off the bench against the Lakers on Thursday with 15 points, two rebounds, one assist and three 3-pointers.

He played all of his minutes at small forward and made 6-of-15 from the field. Coach Fred Hoiberg said he was considering McBuckets at the four, but it really makes little sense. He's played 15 minutes at the four all season with a lot of that coming in garbage time. He's not worth owning in standard leagues.
Jan 29 - 1:20 AM

Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg said that Doug McDermott will spend some time at the power forward position with Nikola Mirotic (appendectomy) on the sidelines.

Hoiberg also said that Jimmy Butler will be getting some run at the four-spot, but the primary beneficiary of Mirotic's absence is going to be Bobby Portis. While McDermott could have some extra minutes coming his way, he really doesn't do a whole lot aside from score and hit 3-pointers, so he's nothing more than a 3-point specialist in extremely deep leagues.

Doug McDermott did not score in 21 minutes against the Mavs on Friday with four rebounds.

It looks like the Bulls are going to play Nikola Mirotic at power forward, which means there should be minutes for McDermott. He really doesn't do anything beyond scoring for his fantasy owners, so he'll need to string some game together to warrant consideration in most leagues.
Jan 15 - 11:50 PM

Doug McDermott showed some offensive versatility on Thursday against the 76ers, scoring 17 points with three rebounds, one steal and one 3-pointer in 33 minutes.

He threw down a dunk tonight and it surprised a lot of people. "I didn't know he could dunk," coach Fred Hoiberg said. The Bulls used him at power forward a lot tonight, so it was just like his college days. He's still only worth a look in deep leagues.
Jan 14 - 10:19 PM

Doug McDermott (right ankle) will play against the 76ers on Thursday.

McDermott was able to go through shootaround without any issues on Thursday and will be available against the 76ers. While McBuckets will be in the Bulls lineup on Thursday, he's unlikely to top 20 minutes and isn't a play in standard fantasy leagues.
Jan 14 - 11:27 AM

Doug McDermott (right ankle) is probable to play against the 76ers on Thursday.

This may explain why he only played 11 minutes on Thursday. McDermott might be closer to 20 minutes because the Bulls will be a little thin on the road. He's only a deep-league play, though.
Jan 13 - 4:51 PM

Doug McDermott failed to score in 11 minutes of action vs. the Raptors, going 0-of-4 from the field with one turnover, two fouls and no other statistics.

McDermott played 20 minutes in each of the Bulls' past two games but this underscores the reason you can't rely on him -- his role fluctuates nightly and he contributes nothing beyond some points and 3-pointers. He should be unowned in all leagues.
Jan 4 - 12:52 AM

Doug McDermott (knee) came off the bench on Wednesday for five points on 2-of-6 shooting, five rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes vs. the Pacers.

McDermott avoided any long-term damage to his knee, but his fantasy appeal has been eroded with Nikola Mirotic (20 minutes) and Tony Snell (27 minutes) both vying for minutes at small forward.

Doug McDermott (knee) is expected to play against the Pacers on Wednesday.

He is likely coming off the bench, so this might be the last update we get on him. If McDermott isn't limited, that would mean less run for Tony Snell and maybe Bobby Portis because Nikola Mirotic would play more at the four.
