Doug McDermott is available to play against the Lakers on Friday.
It'll be interesting to see how the Thunder will use McBuckets. Russell Westbrook sure could use another shooter out there next to him, especially with Andre Roberson only making 25.0 percent from deep off Westbrook passes. McDermott's defense will hold him back from seeing big minutes, so he's not a pickup just yet. Feb 24 - 6:06 PM

Doug McDermott has been traded to the Thunder.

It sounds like Andre Roberson will remain in OKC, so that hurts McDermott's outlook a bit -- the Thunder are sending Cameron Payne, Anthony Morrow and Joffrey Lauvergne for McDermott and Taj Gibson. The Thunder clearly value McDermott and he should get a slight boost in OKC, so he's worth a look if you need a 3-point specialist. He averaged 10.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.3 steals in 24.5 minutes per game for the Bulls.

According to Frank Isola of the NY Daily News, the Thunder are nearing a deal to acquire Doug McDermott.

The proposed deal would likely include Andre Roberson and Cameron Payne from the Thunder, so McDermott could potentially be the starting small forward in OKC. If you have a roster spot and need 3-pointers, McDermott is now firmly on the radar as a pickup. He's averaging 1.3 triples in 24.5 minutes per game for the Bulls.

According to Royce Young of ESPN, the Thunder are interested in Doug McDermott.

In case you missed it, the Thunder are also interested in Taj Gibson. McDermott's price won't be low, as he's a career 39.8 percent shooter from beyond the arc and is still on his rookie-scale deal. If McDermott is moved to OKC, it's certainly possible that he could get a bump in value depending on the pieces involved. No deal is imminent right now.
Feb 23 - 11:12 AM

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, Doug McDermott is "in play" at the deadline.

From the sounds of things, every Bull appears to be available for the right price leading up to the deadline, but Taj Gibson and Nikola Mirotic are the most likely to be moved. This report is still in the rumor stage and McDermott hasn't been linked to any teams yet, but we'll keep a close eye on this.
Feb 23 - 9:24 AM

Doug McDermott scored 11 points with two rebounds and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes against the Celtics on Thursday.

He did a fine job off the bench and it does help that Nikola Mirotic (back) did not play in this game. The Bulls really need another shooter out there, so Mirotic not playing makes McDermott even more essential for spacing when he's out there. He's still not an add here.
Feb 16 - 10:45 PM

Doug McDermott moved back to the bench on Tuesday vs. the Raptors, but still had a great game with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting.

Jimmy Butler (heel) returned, but Doug McBuckets was still heavily involved because Nikola Mirotic (back) and Dwyane Wade (wrist) were both out. McDermott logged 32 minutes and added five rebounds, one assist and two triples, and he also closed this game out. The Bulls are one of two teams that do not play on Wednesday, but that makes him an enticing pickup for Thursday's two-game slate.
Feb 14 - 11:04 PM

Doug McDemott will return to the bench for Tuesday's game against Toronto.

Jimmy Butler (heel) is back in the starting five, and he'll be joined by Jerian Grant, Michael Carter-Williams, Taj Gibson and Robin Lopez. McDermott is nothing more than a low-end 3-point specialist in deep leagues.

Doug McDermott started on Sunday and picked up 16 points with four 3-pointers, two assists and one rebound in 29 minutes of action.

The Bulls were playing without Jimmy Butler (heel), Dwyane Wade (wrist), Nikola Mirotic (back) and Paul Zipser (food poisoning, ankle), which gifted McDermott the start tonight. He led a potent 3-point attack, as the Bulls' typically weak perimeter game turned in 10 triples on 40.0 percent shooting beyond the arc. All of the Bulls' missing players are day-to-day, which erases McDermott's appeal as a pickup.
Feb 12 - 6:05 PM

Doug McDermott and Michael Carter-Williams will start Sunday's game for the short-handed Bulls.

Jimmy Butler (heel) and Dwyane Wade (wrist) are both out today and this shouldn't have any long-term repercussions. McDermott and Carter-Williams are both interesting streaming and DFS plays, however, since they should get plenty of minutes in a matchup vs. Tom Thibodeau and the Wolves.
Feb 12 - 2:50 PM

Coach Fred Hoiberg said Doug McDermott is guiding his shot.

It's usually not good when a coach is criticizing a shooter's stroke, especially when that player isn't great on the defensive end. Even when McDermott was struggling earlier this year, Hoiberg still talked him up and focused on how he made so many treys in practice. McDermott may lose even more playing time.
Feb 9 - 4:22 PM

Doug McDermott got the start against the Heat on Friday due to discipline to the starting wings, finishing with nine points, five rebounds, two assists and one 3-pointer in 24 minutes.

He gets some credit for playing decent in this game, but we'll throw it out for now. McDermott did show some signs of life in his previous two games with 11.0 points per outing, but he was ice cold before that. There's no need to grab him.
Jan 28 - 2:12 AM

Doug McDermott is getting the start on Friday against the Heat.

He has not been good lately, but maybe he can gain some ground with a strong start. It would be a very risky move to use McDermott in DFS, especially with 10 games tonight. Season-long owners can ignore this unless they want a stream.
Jan 27 - 6:27 PM

Doug McDermott hit 4-of-7 shots (all 3-pointers) for 12 points in just 17 minutes on Tuesday, adding a rebound, assist and block in a 100-92 win over the Magic.

McBuckets has been pretty awful over the course of the season and had scored a grand total of 12 points over his previous three games after blowing up for 31 points on Jan. 15. Tonight has fluke written all over it, as 17 minutes just isn't enough time for most NBA players to do much with. McDermott could get it going at any time this season, but it's been a rough ride with him thus far and there are no signs that his minutes are about to change.
Jan 24 - 10:58 PM

Doug McDermott scored two points with three rebounds, one assist and three turnovers during a 102-93 loss to the Hawks on Friday.

All that momentum he built earlier this month is now gone. He's still not making treys and his defense is holding the team back. Maybe a lineup tweak helps him, but it's hard to count on McDermott night in and night out.
