The Houston Rockets are in talks to sign Montrezl Harrell.
The Rockets are still looking to sign their second-round pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, but the discussions haven't progressed to an agreement just yet. While Harrell has some upside, he won't have much more than deep-league fantasy value once he signs as he'll be stuck behind Dwight Howard, Terrence Jones, Donatas Motiejunas, and Clint Capela. Montrezl Harrell finished his Summer League on a high note on Friday against the 76ers, scoring 24 points with 12 rebounds and two blocks in 27 minutes.

He slipped out of the first round to pick No. 32 and has made it very clear he has first-round talent. Harrell is right up Houston's alley at power forward because he thrives at getting close-range shots. Coach Kevin McHale also has a propensity to play pure fours like Harrell at the five, so that's another avenue for minutes. Still, he's behind Dwight Howard, Terrence Jones, Donatas Motiejunas and Clint Capela for minutes.

Montrezl Harrell played well against the Bucks on Wednesday, scoring 16 points with five rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block.

He was ultra aggressive in this one and used his size to his advantage. Harrell played more power forward for the Rockes today, but he'll be hard-pressed for playing time with the big club, especially since Terrence Jones wasn't traded.

Rockets rookie Montrezl Harrell had a mixed debut on Sunday, posting 11 points and eight boards to go along with five personal fouls and two turnovers in 26 energetic minutes.

Harrell projected as a late first-round pick but he fell to Houston at No. 32, and it already looks like a great pickup for the Rockets. Kevin McHale is willing to play rookies if they earn minutes, and the likely departure of Josh Smith might open up playing time, but Harrell should still go untouched in re-draft leagues.

With the second pick of the second round, the Rockets selected Louisville PF Montrezl Harrell.

Terrence Jones has reportedly been on the trade block and Josh Smith is an unrestricted free agent, so Harrell gives Houston some insurance at PF. He has a 7'4" wingspan but measured only 6'7" tall at the combine, and fantasy owners should take note of his paltry 53.3 percent FT shooting in three seasons at Louisville. There's no reason to think he'll be a fantasy asset this season.

Montrezl Harrell sprained his left ankle while working out for the Bucks on Wednesday, and he is currently receiving treatment.

There is no word on the severity of the sprain, but we will update his status once more is known. Harrell is a power forward who is known for his physical tools, and he is expected to go towards the end of the first round. The Louisville product averaged 15.7 points, 9.2 boards, 1.2 blocks and 0.9 steals during his junior season.

Montrezl Harrell and Kevon Looney will work out for the Raptors on Saturday.

Amir Johnson is an unrestricted free agent this summer and Patrick Patterson struggles with consistency, so the Raptors could give Harrell and Looney a serious look in the draft. Harrell is slightly undersized at just 6'8", but his physical tools and toughness makes up for it. He is a mobile forward who runs the floor well, and he can be a bully in the paint. Harrell averaged 15.7 points, 9.2 boards, 1.2 blocks and 0.9 steals in his junior season at Louisville, but he likely won't be a factor in fantasy leagues next season.
