Clint Capela (knee) will start for Houston going forward, but his backup will likely be based on matchups most nights, according to coach Mike D'Antoni.
"Maybe the first guy off the bench will be a matchup consideration. Or if bulky centers give Clint a problem, I'll substitute early and get Nene in there. Or if we need energy today, maybe here comes Montrezl," said coach D'Antoni. Harrell averaged 14.6 points (on 68.3 percent shooting) and 4.9 rebounds in 27.4 minutes over the 14 games Capela missed due to his knee injury, but will obviously see a big hit to his playing time and production serving solely as a reserve. Montrezl Harrell logged 34 minutes as a starter on Sunday, making 6-of-9 FGs and 4-of-6 FTs to finish with 16 points, seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks.

The bad news is that Clint Capela is nearing a return from his fractured fibula, and could play as soon as Tuesday's road game in Miami. Harrell has carved out a reliable spot in the rotation, but he's averaging just 16.2 minutes off the bench, as opposed to 26.6 minutes as a starter. The clock is ticking, though he's worth owning until we see how the rotation shakes out with Capela active.
Jan 15 - 9:05 PM

Montrezl Harrell earned another start vs. the Wolves on Wednesday, chipping in nine points (2-of-4 FGs, 5-of-5 FTs), five boards, two assists and one steal in 20 minutes.

Since Clint Capela's first DNP on Dec. 20, Harrell has averaged 14.8 points on 69.5 percent shooting, 4.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 blocks and 0.4 steals. The limited minutes tonight were due to foul trouble and he's worth deploying for now, despite the constant threat from Nene (nine points in 15 minutes). Just keep in mind that Capela is progressing well and could return in late January.
Jan 12 - 12:01 AM

Montrezl Harrell started over Nene and hit 5-of-5 shots for 14 points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocks in Tuesday's win over the Hornets.

Harrell's spot in the starting lineup is shaky, as Mike D'Antoni flips him in and out with Nene based on matchups. Harrell had 28 points, five boards and a block on Sunday and then played well again tonight in 29 minutes. Starting or coming off the bench really doesn't matter at this point and Harrell is worth owning as long as Clint Capela is out with a broken fibula.
Jan 10 - 11:10 PM

Montrezl Harrell will start on Tuesday vs. the Hornets, sending Nene back to the bench.

Harrell is coming off a monster 28-point game with five boards and a block, but coach Mike D'Antoni is going to base his starting lineups on the matchups until Clint Capela (leg) returns. In case it's not obvious, Harrell is a much better option than Nene regardless of whether or not he starts.
Jan 10 - 7:58 PM

Montrezl Harrell was almost perfect on Sunday, making 12-of-13 field goals to finish with 28 points, five boards and one block in 26 bench minutes.

Harrell was decisive with the ball tonight and his confidence seemed to grow with every make, helping Houston earn a 34-23 advantage in the decisive fourth quarter. His minutes have been safe since Clint Capela fractured his fibula, and he's well worth owning as a productive big man -- after tonight's shooting display, he's shooting an impressive 64-of-93 (68.8 percent) in Houston's previous 10 games.
Jan 8 - 9:00 PM

Montrezl Harrell will return to the bench for Sunday's game against the Raptors, with Nene drawing the start.

Mike D'Antoni described the move as a matchup-based decision, but his minutes and production haven't fluctuated all that much whether he's starting or coming off the bench. Go ahead and get him active.
Jan 8 - 4:14 PM

Montrezl Harrel scored nine points with four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in a start against the Magic on Friday.

Despite getting the start, it's the fewest minutes he's played since Dec. 23. Harrell's 6'8" may have hurt him in this matchup, but he should have better luck against the Raptors on Sunday. He should be owned in all leagues right now.
Jan 6 - 9:20 PM

Montrezl Harrell is back in the starting lineup on Friday night against the Magic.

The move to put Nene in the first unit worked, but this is a back-to-back set for the Rockets. Harrell should have a very good game tonight.
Jan 6 - 7:09 PM

Montrezl Harrell came off the bench on Thursday and had eight points, eight rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes.

Nene got the start over him tonight, but we're not worried about it. Nene hasn't played more than 19 minutes in a game in forever, and Harrell should be back as the starter very soon. Stick with him if you've been using him as a fantasy center over the past few weeks.
Jan 5 - 11:08 PM

Montrezl Harrell will come off the bench against the Thunder on Thursday.

He scored his career-high 29 points off the bench, so Harrell owners shouldn't worry at all here. He should still be worth owning in standard leagues.
Jan 5 - 7:50 PM

Montrezl Harrell hit 6-of-11 shots for 14 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in 33 minutes in another start at center on Monday.

He's the best DFS value center right now, has scored in double digits in three straight games, and is averaging 15.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks on 67 percent shooting over his last five games. With Clint Capela still a long ways off, Harrell looks like a solid player to own in any format right now.
Jan 2 - 11:23 PM

Montrezl Harrell will remain in the starting lineup for Monday's matchup with the Wizards.

There were some rumblings that Nene could have moved into the starting five for tonight's game against his former team, but that will not be the case. Harrell has been solid in his four starts this season, posting averages of 15.0 points, 4.5 boards, 2.3 dimes and 1.3 blocks per contest, so go ahead and get him active.
Jan 2 - 6:33 PM

Montrezl Harrell made a start against the Knicks on Saturday with 13 points, four rebounds and four assists in 33 minutes.

It wasn't a 29-point explosion like Friday, but this will definitely work. Harrell is clearly getting heavy minutes as the center and it looks like he has the backup job locked up once Clint Capela (leg) comes back. Even once Capela comes back, there should still be around 20-24 minutes for Montrezl. He should be picked up in standard leagues.

Montrezl Harrell and Corey Brewer will start against the Knicks on Saturday.

He scored a career-high 29 points against the Clippers on Friday, so this move looked like it was coming. Harrell could get over 30 minutes and has really thrived in the Rockets offense. He should be owned in all leagues.
