"We have continued to take significant steps as a team under Quin’s direction," Jazz General Manager Dennis Lindsey said. Jazz head coach Quin Snyder has not decided who will start in the backcourt on opening night.

Trey Burke and Alec Burks were the clear favorites to start earlier in the preseason, but Raul Neto and Rodney Hood made some serious noise in the first unit on Thursday and it sounds like Snyder is truly undecided. "The thing that we have is a group that I think understands the value that the team is bigger than any one of us and they’re willing to do what needs to be done," Snyder said. "It’s my job to make some of those decisions." These position battles are going to come down to the wire which makes it difficult for owners who are drafting this weekend.

Quin Snyder has added West Virginia Wesleyan coach Patrick Beilein to his staff, according to sources.

Beilein will be the video coordinator and player development coach for Snyder. Snyder hopes to use Beilein's skills as a shooting instructor to help develop Utah's young, developing roster.

The Utah Jazz are "frantically" trying to move from the No. 5 overall pick, according to Utah Jazz beat writer Jody Genessy.

The Jazz are willing to part with almost any asset in order to move up further in the draft. Derrick Favors, the third overall pick in 2010, is the player whose name has surfaced the most in connection to the Jazz trying to maneuver up the draft order.

The Jazz have entered into a single-affiliation partnership with the D-League's Idaho Stampede.

The Stampede plays in Boise, under 350 miles from Salt Lake City, so the Jazz are likely to shuttle their young players to and from the D-League with increasing frequency. The partnership gives Utah full control over the Stampede's coaches and players, and they're the 17th NBA team to embrace the single-affiliation model.

Atlanta assistant coach Quin Snyder has finalized an agreement with the Jazz to become the team's new head coach, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

The deal will reportedly include three guaranteed years, plus a team option. Utah GM Dennis Lindsey is no stranger to Snyder, as he was the assistant GM for the Spurs while Snyder coached San Antonio's D-League affiliate. The Jazz organization was reportedly left very impressed after their meeting with Snyder earlier this week. Snyder is particularly adept at drawing up innovative pick-and-rolls, which should pair nicely with enhancing the value of Derrick Favors.

Quin Snyder is believed to be the favorite for the Utah's vacant head coaching position, according to Jody Genessy of the Deseret News.

Adrian Griffin is another very strong candidate for the job while Alvin Gentry seems like he could be headed to Cleveland. Snyder's coaching career has included assistant jobs with the 76ers, Lakers and Hawks, but is most famous for being the head coach of the Missouri Tigers from 1999-2006.
