The Hawks have recalled Walter Tavares from the D-League.

He isn't in the rotation right now and won't be a fantasy asset with Al Horford and Tiago Splitter ahead of him on the depth chart.

Walter Tavares' hip has healed and he is expected to be recalled from the D-League as soon as Sunday.

He had a minor hip injury that kept him out of Saturday's D-League game, but he has been deemed healthy. He does have great potential, but he won't be in the Hawks' rotation while Al Horford and Tiago Splitter are healthy.

Tavares is built to block shots with a 7'9" wingspan and he should stick in the rotation with Tiago Splitter recovering from yet another calf injury. He's an intriguing handcuff for Al Horford in deep leagues, but most re-draft owners should monitor him from a distance.

The Hawks will recall Walter Tavares from the D-League in time for Sunday's game against the Jazz.

Tavares scored 18 points with 17 rebounds and five blocks in 28 minutes on Saturday for the Austin Spurs while shooting 7-of-10 from the field. The 7'3 center has a lot of upside, but minutes won't be easy to come by in Atlanta this season. Tavares is still a nice stash in dynasty leagues.

Tavares has been a negligible part of the Hawks rotation this season, seeing just one minute of action in two games thus far, so he'll get some much needed experience in the D-League. There’s no reason to roster Tavares outside of deep dynasty leagues.

Deep Dynasty owners rejoice! Tavares is a Rudy Gobert-like freak, but he's out of the rotation and would need multiple injuries to be fantasy relevant this year.

Tavares has some scary upside because of his length and ability to block shots, but he is also a huge project and may not be in the rotation for a while.

Walter Tavares grabbed 12 boards with three points and two blocks on Friday against the Pistons.

He struggled on offense and looked great on the glass. Tavares is arguably the most like Rudy Gobert for his length and blocking prowess, but he's still extremely raw. If you want him in Dynasty, it's going to be a while before he's a real asset.
