The 22-year old just signed a three-year deal and won’t be coming over to the US for at least a couple years. Draft prospect Walter Tavares has signed a three-year contract extension with the Spanish team Gran Canaria, according to Sportando.

Tavares is a 7'3" center who worked out for the Celtics in mid-June and was projected to be a borderline first-round pick in this summer's draft. His new contract in Spain means that any team drafting him will have to wait a few years before he joins the NBA, and they may also face a hefty buyout. He's still eligible to be drafted, but may not come off the board until later in the second round.
