He's returning from a one-game absence. McDaniels hasn't been in the rotation, but there's a slight chance that he sees a handful of minutes with Eric Gordon (back) out. There's no fantasy value here. Feb 11 - 7:37 PM

K.J. McDaniels (personal) was not at shootaround and it is unknown if he will be available for Saturday night's game vs. the Suns.

There is only minimal fantasy impact related to this news, as McDaniels is averaging just 2.8 minutes per game over the last six weeks. Sam Dekker and Corey Brewer could see a few additional minutes, especially if Eric Gordon (back) is unable to suit up on Saturday.

K.J. McDaniels (personal) will not play on Thursday vs. the Hornets.

His girlfriend delivered their child today, so McDaniels is obviously not with the team. With Eric Gordon (back) considered questionable for tonight's game, this means that Sam Dekker and Corey Brewer should both get a bump in minutes if Gordon is held out.

K.J. McDaniels (travel issues) was unable to attend Sunday's practice.

"As long as they communicate, some things you can't control," said head coach Mike D'Antoni of McDaniels' excused absence. He's not typically a fantasy option, but if Trevor Ariza (back) is forced to the sidelines on Monday's night, McDaniels could pop up on the deep league radar.

K.J. McDaniels scored two points in four minutes against the Nuggets on Friday.

He only saw garbage time, but McDaniels could be called upon to step up for Trevor Ariza (back). There's no need to add him in almost any league, but he could get in the rotation.

K.J. McDaniels played 19 minutes, hit 5-of-6 shots and a 3-pointer, and finished with 13 points, two rebounds and a block in Saturday's loss to the Hawks.

The 13 points were a season high and he didn't even combine to score 13 points in his previous three games. Put him on your radar, but as long as he's getting fewer than 20 minutes a night, he's not going to be worth owning in fantasy.

K.J. McDaniels blocked four shots against the Knicks on Wednesday with five points, three rebounds, one steal and one 3-pointer in 19 minutes.

The K.J. blocks were in emphatic fashion as per usual. He is getting some late run this year over Ryan Anderson at times when the Rockets go with more of a defense-first approach. McDaniels' role still isn't consistent enough to trust in most leagues yet.

K.J. McDaniels played 22 minutes against the Mavs on Friday with nine points, two rebounds, two steals and one 3-pointer.

He played some crunch time minutes with the Mavs going small and coach Mike D'Antoni wanted a higher priority on defense. McDaniels still has some trouble with his jumper and his fantastic block rate as a rookie has subsided, so you'd have to be in a deep league to pounce.

K.J. McDaniels didn't miss from the field on Wednesday, going 5-of-5 with a 3-pointer to score 11 points in 12 minutes of action.

McDaniels and Corey Brewer (four points, two assists in 15 minutes) have both secured spots in the rotation, but their upside is severely limited while James Harden, Eric Gordon and Trevor Ariza are dominating the wing positions.

K.J. McDaniels is drawing the start for Saturday's preseason game vs. Memphis.

McDaniels is stepping into the lineup with Patrick Beverley (knee) out of action. If he sees a real role in Mike D'Antoni's rotation, McDaniels is worth a late-round flier given his fantasy-friendly game and versatility.

K.J. McDaniels looked great vs. the Pelicans on Sunday, scoring 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting.

He was also 1-of-2 from 3-point range and added eight rebounds and two blocks in just 20 minutes. Coach Mike D'Antoni has been talking him up a bit and it's possible that he could eventually leapfrog Corey Brewer (four points in 19 minutes) in the rotation if he keeps this up. He's got some upside, so just put him on your radar for now.

K.J. McDaniels expressed appreciation for Mike D'Antoni's willingness to support him on the court.

"It means a lot coming from the head coach," McDaniels said when asked about D'Antoni's desire to make him one of the best defenders on the team. "I feel like I can do that and [push] it to the limit and do that. Scouting is definitely important, but having the will to want to go out there and do it and want to go out there and defend -- that will be a difference this year on our team." McDaniels has a versatile game that can translate to fantasy value, but the minutes have to be there in order for that to happen.

Mike D'Antoni said that he'll give K.J. McDaniels some run at the two next to James Harden during Tuesday's preseason game vs. the Knicks.

If McDaniels can carve out a meaningful role with the Rockets this season, he could offer some sneaky value with his ability to rack up the defensive statistics, although that could be tough for him to accomplish while Trevor Ariza, Corey Brewer and Eric Gordon are healthy. For now, he's only someone to monitor in deep leagues, but it's worth noting that through 52 games with the 76ers during rookie year he averaged 9.2 points, 0.8 triples, 0.8 steals and 1.3 blocks over 25.4 minutes.

K.J. McDaniels filled it up vs. the Warriors with 25 points (8-of-12 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), nine rebounds, four assists, three 3-pointers, three steals and two blocks in 34 minutes of action.

McDaniels abused would-be defenders like Patrick McCaw all night long, and the only real blotch on his performance was a terrible turnover that may have cost Houston the (meaningless) game. He doesn't have a clear path to minutes while James Harden, Trevor Ariza, Corey Brewer and Eric Gordon are healthy, but he's at least improved his stock with a very strong showing in Vegas.
Thu, Jul 14, 2016 12:23:00 AM

K.J. McDaniels shot 3-of-11 from the field on Sunday, but chipped in elsewhere with 10 points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals, three blocks and one 3-pointer.

With Eric Gordon, Trevor Ariza and Corey Brewer available on the wings for Houston, it'll be hard for McDaniels to demand a reliable spot in the rotation this year. In case injuries open up more playing time, deep-league owners should still be aware of his sneaky per-36 minutes averages -- 13.1 points, 1.1 threes, 5.5 boards, 1.2 steals and 1.7 blocks.
