K.J. McDaniels went from playing 23 minutes on Tuesday to picking up a DNP-CD vs. Orlando on Thursday.
Sean Kilpatrick (hamstring) was out tonight, but Nets coach Kenny Atkinson opted for a 10-man rotation that included starters Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Randy Foye and Caris LeVert, as well as reserves Isaiah Whitehead and Archie Goodwin. Brooklyn will thoroughly evaluate McDaniels this offseason, but he's obviously not trustworthy in the final week of the season. Apr 6 - 10:49 PM

K.J. McDaniels scored 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting vs. the 76ers on Tuesday.

The Nets scored 141 points in an absolute blowout, so everyone who dressed got some action tonight. McDaniels added two rebounds, one assist, one block and three triples in 23 minutes, but he was coming off two straight DNP-CDs and isn't a realistic fantasy option with Sean Kilpatrick healthy again. If Isaiah Whitehead (ankle) misses another game, maybe McDaniels will get another chance.
Apr 4 - 10:03 PM

K.J. McDaniels was a DNP-CD on Saturday.

The Nets gave his minutes to Archie Goodwin for this one, but McDaniels may be getting another chance on Sunday. Obviously fantasy owners shouldn't be targeting either guy.
Apr 1 - 9:05 PM

K.J. McDaniels scored four points with two rebounds and one 3-pointer in 15 minutes against the Pistons on Thursday.

He's lost some run with Sean Kilpatrick coming back into the fold. McDaniels has played well since the Nets picked him up from the Rockets and there's a chance he's on the roster next year. He may have a big game if the Nets rest players, so just keep an eye on him.
Mar 30 - 9:49 PM

K.J. McDaniels scored 11 points with four rebounds, one assist and one block in 22 minutes against the Hawks on Sunday.

Just start him over Randy Foye already. McDaniels continue to make plays on both ends and his style of play really fits in nicely with the up-tempo Nets. He does appear to have at least 20 minutes per game locked up, so he does have some value in deeper leagues right now. If he does get added run, he would be on the standard league radar thanks to his ability to fill up the stat sheet in such a favorable system.
Mar 26 - 5:01 PM

Nets coach Kenny Atkinson said he wants K.J. McDaniels to work on his 3-point shot during the offseason.

"In today’s game, you want a wing to be a ‘three-and-D’ guy," Atkinson said. "He’s so athletic that he can drive it all the time and get in the lane. But we need him to be out there and make some. I think the shot is technically pretty good, so I’m bullish on where he can go with his shooting." McDaniels is shooting 32.6 percent from deep this season which is his best mark through three seasons, but the defensive side of his game is already very solid. With the Nets a little banged up, McDaniels is getting a lot of burn and is averaging 12.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 blocks, 1.0 steals and 1.0 triples in 23.6 minutes per game over his last three outings. Keep an eye on him.

Mar 26 - 11:15 AM

K.J. McDaniels scored a season-high 16 points in Brooklyn's 126-98 victory over the Suns on Thursday night.

With this game decided early in the second half, the Nets were able to give extended minutes to their bench players. McDaniels logged 24 minutes and, in addition to the points, also grabbed a season-high eight rebounds. He added one assist, two steals, one block and one 3-pointer as well. The 16 points were the most he's scored since his rookie season back in 2014-15. This was his second straight game in double figures. It is unlikely he'll be able to match this production or playing time in the Nets next contest, but he is now worth keeping an eye on deeper leagues.
Mar 23 - 10:15 PM

K.J. McDaniels played 21 minutes and hit 4-of-8 shots and two 3-pointers for 11 points, two rebounds and a block in Tuesday's win.

He hadn't scored more than nine points in a game since Nov. 5 and didn't exactly kill it tonight, so there's no reason to move on him. But with the Nets having nothing to play for, anything is possible over the last few weeks of the season.
Mar 21 - 10:49 PM

K.J. McDaniels scored nine points with five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one 3-pointer in 18 minutes against the Knicks on Thursday.

The Nets wanted to get a look at him and he was better than expected. He made 4-of-5 from the line and played sound defense all night. With Sean Kilpatrick (hamstring) possibly missing more time, McDaniels could see minutes in the 20s next time. He's only worth a look in deep leagues, but keep in mind his value may go up on Friday if the Nets rest players.
Mar 16 - 11:06 PM

The Nets are expected to play K.J. McDaniels on Thursday.

There should be some highlights coming our way and the Nets may even use him as a four. Just keep an eye on McDaniels.
Mar 16 - 7:25 PM

K.J. McDaniels contributed just two points, one rebound and one block in five minutes off the Nets' bench on Wednesday.

Joe Harris (shoulder, concussion) was out again tonight but McDaniels continues to see just a handful of minutes for Brooklyn. They could unleash him late to see how he fits with their other young guys, especially since they hold a $3.5 million team option, but he's only a stash in very deep leagues.
Mar 8 - 10:39 PM

K.J. McDaniels went through his second full practice on Tuesday.

Excluding garbage time, coach Kenny Atkinson did not want to play McDaniels over the weekend due to not going through a practice, but now there is a chance McDaniels gets out there against the Kings on Wednesday based on Atkinson's comments. "It’s a good chance for the coaches to get a feel for who is this guy, what can he do and how can help us where we can put him out," Atkinson said. He's still only a stash in very deep leagues.

Mar 1 - 2:51 PM

K.J. McDaniels played two minutes in his Nets debut on Saturday.

It was only garbage time for McDaniels. He could get minutes at some point down the line, especially when the Nets rest players. Just keep an eye on the shot-blocking wing.
Feb 26 - 12:53 AM

K.J. McDaniels (trade) is inactive on Friday vs. the Nuggets.

He was just acquired at the deadline on Thursday, but there's a good chance that he will be cleared in time for Saturday's game vs. the Warriors. McDaniels should get a shot at minutes in Brooklyn and has upside in blocks and triples, but most fantasy owners can just keep an eye on him.
Feb 24 - 7:51 PM

K.J. McDaniels has been traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

This was a straight salary dump for Houston, while the Nets are acquiring an intriguing young swingman who can hit 3-pointers and block shots. This is a great landing spot for McDaniels and he should be able to crack the rotation with Bojan Bogdanovic out of the picture, but he will likely come off the bench behind Caris LeVert and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson on the wings. Just keep an eye on him.
