K.J. McDaniels had a block party at Barclays Center with four swats against the Nets on Monday to go with five points and three boards in 16 minutes.
Three of the blocks were highlight-reel quality and he now has eight blocks in his last three games. Coach Brett Brown is a defensive coach at heart, so he has to like the idea of throwing his rookie out there. Although, he'll help himself with a lower foul rate. He's a high-ceiling target late in drafts. Oct 20 - 10:47 PM

K.J. McDaniels blocked two shots in 26 minutes against the Magic on Saturday to go with 11 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal.

The blocks are going to be there and he'll have a chance to make around 1.5 triples per game. Those two assets alone would put him on the map in standard leagues, so he's certainly worthy of a late-round pick.

K.J. McDaniels blocked two shots against the Celtics on Thursday to go with seven points, two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one 3-pointer in 18 minutes.

He is making some great plays and and a tremendous block while playing low-post defense on Tyler Zeller. McDaniels is capable of some terrific highlights and the 76ers need all the help they can get on the wing, so he could have a big rookie season. He's a fantastic upside pick late in drafts for his defensive stats.
Oct 16 - 9:35 PM

K.J. McDaniels came off the bench for eight points, three rebounds and a steal on Tuesday, but missed all three of his 3-point attempts in a preseason loss to the Knicks.

McDaniels played 28 minutes and while it's possible he'll start at shooting guard this season, it's far from a guarantee on opening night. Tony Wroten is his main competition for the starting job right now, and it's too close to call. Then again, it's also possible that Wroten will have to start at PG while Michael Carter-Williams is out with his shoulder injury.
Oct 14 - 10:13 PM

Coach Brett Brown said he hopes to mold K.J. McDaniels into a "three-and-D" guy this season.

He compared McDaniels to how the Spurs used Bruce Bowen."We never put Bruce in pick-and-rolls, we never isolated him, watched him do stuff with the ball," Brown said. "It was making corner threes, from the skill package of catch-go, catch-shot, stuff from the [corners]." McDaniels has been racking up the defensive stats in the preseason, so he would certainly have appealing value if he can add 1.5 triples per game. He's one of our favorite picks to take late in drafts.
Oct 13 - 1:00 PM

K.J. McDaniels came off the bench against the Wolves on Friday, scoring 12 points with one rebound, one assist, one block and two 3-pointers.

He shot 5-of-6 from the field and put up a 100.0 effective field goal percentage. The 76ers are just messing around on the wing by starting Alexey Shved and Luc Mbah a Moute, so it shouldn't be long before McDaniels is in the starting lineup. He takes triples and block shots on the wing, so he epitomizes a high-upside pick late in drafts.
Oct 10 - 11:36 PM

K.J. McDaniels came off the bench to hit 4-of-13 shots for eight points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block on Wednesday.

He missed all four of his 3-point attempts, but looked pretty good tonight. He has a shot to eventually take over the starting shooting guard job in Philly, but he's come off the bench in their first two preseason games. At this point it looks like he's in a battle with Hollis Thompson for the starting SG job, but Thompson left tonight's game with an eye injury after just four minutes of action.
Oct 8 - 10:22 PM

K.J. McDaniels started the second half on Monday, finishing with one point, four rebounds, two steals, four blocks and one turnover in 21 minutes.

Yep, this is what McDaniels is all about. It's not easy for a wing to block four shots, but the rookie is probably going to do it a few times during the season. He is a great fit for the 76ers and he'd have to struggle badly to not earn a starting nod. He's a great player to target late in fantasy drafts.
Oct 6 - 11:17 PM

K.J. McDaniels started the second half on Monday night in place of Luc Mbah a Moute.

We've been talking about him a lot and this is just what we wanted to hear. McDaniels is an elite shot blocker and he has already stuffed Evan Turner in impressive fashion tonight. You'll have a tough time finding a rookie with higher upside after pick 100 in standard drafts and he could get big minutes.
Oct 6 - 9:14 PM

76ers second-round pick K.J. McDaniels opted to sign a non-guaranteed one-year contract, which will make him a restricted free agent in 2015.

It's a highly unusual move for a rookie, but McDaniels is betting that he can stay healthy and quickly land a bigger payday in free agency. A starting job at SG or SF is within his grasp and he'll essentially be in a contract year as a rookie, which is all the more reason to target him in the final rounds of typical fantasy drafts.
Oct 1 - 10:00 AM

K.J. McDaniels' contract with the 76ers has not officially been signed, so he did not participate in Monday's training camp practice.

The Sixers have at least 12 unguaranteed or partially-guaranteed contracts on their roster, and McDaniels is in a holding pattern until GM Sam Hinkie can sift through all the financial pieces. Fantasy owners shouldn't hesitate to draft McDaniels as a late-round pick with defensive upside -- the Sixers' rotation is wide open, and he has enough talent and athleticism to carve out a major role as a rookie.
Sep 30 - 3:13 PM

Coach Brett Brown said he has "no idea what's going on with the wings" in his starting lineup.

Well, at least he's honest. The 76ers have one of the worst rosters in quite some time and they are expected to start Hollis Thompson and rookie K.J. McDaniels. The Clemson product has some upside in blocks and the team let him launch some 3-pointers at summer league. He's a sneaky late-round pick with upside in standard leagues.
Sep 25 - 8:25 PM

K.J. McDaniels (ankle) will not play on Saturday vs. Utah.

He rolled his ankle vs. the Nets on Wednesday and it's likely swelled up on him. McDaniels was trying to play through it, which looks like a mistake right now. Hopefully he'll be back out there soon after turning heads in Orlando.
Jul 12 - 9:28 PM

K.J. McDaniels rolled his left ankle vs. the Nets on Wednesday and will not return.

He tried to play through it, but he went to the locker room with a little hitch in his giddy up after a few possessions. McDaniels has played terrific ball while in Orlando and he's put himself on the radar in several formats.
Jul 9 - 5:41 PM

K.J. McDaniels has been added to the summer league roster.

The 76ers play in Orlando and Las Vegas, so McDaniels seems like he'll be getting action in both events. Chances are the team will give him a long look and he'll look to solidify his spot in the rotation.
