The Kings are high on the defensive ability of Eric Moreland, but don't want to put too much pressure on him to make an immediate impact.
He earned his contract due to his stellar play at summer league, averaging 2.7 blocks, 3.5 points, 8.8 boards and 0.5 steals in 19.2 minutes per game. Moreland is probably going to be held out of the rotation, but the uncertainty at power forward could give him a chance to make an impact down the line. Just keep an eye on him for now. Kings prospect PF Eric Moreland said that he's added nearly 20 pounds to his lean 6'10" frame this summer.

Moreland is up to 230 pounds but he conceded, "I still have a lot more weight to add." Kings GM Pete D'Alessandro described the 22-year-old Moreland as an energetic player who can "step in and create a niche for himself," but he's not even a lock to make the regular-season roster.

Kings sign F Eric Moreland.

He was undrafted after being named as Pac-12 All-Defensive Honorable Mention in 2013-14 and 2012-13 at Oregon State. Moreland is also the Beavers' all-time leader in blocks, and he swatted 2.7 shots per game at summer league this month. He'll head to training camp with an outside shot to make the team.

The Kings agreed to a three-year deal with Eric Moreland.

The Kings were the champs of Las Vegas Summer League due partially to Moreland's protection of the rim, averaging 2.7 blocks to go with 3.5 points, 8.8 boards and 0.5 steals. He's been praised by coach Mike Malone and will get a chance to show what he can do in training camp.

Coach Mike Malone said he thinks Eric Moreland earned a contract with the Kings.

Moreland has been terrific around the basket as a rim protector, blocking 2.6 shots per game to go with 4.2 points and 8.6 boards in Vegas. He will likely be headed to the D-League, but it's nice to see an undrafted guy step up in summer league.
