Collin Sexton made 9-of-16 FGs and 4-of-4 FTs for 24 points vs. the Wizards on Wednesday, adding two 3-pointers, three rebounds and four turnovers.
George Hill (shoulder) is still out roughly another week and it'll be interesting to see what coach Larry Drew does with the PG spot when the veteran is healthy. Sexton is still averaging as many turnovers (2.3) as assists (2.3), and only mustered two dimes tonight vs. a team that leads the NBA in assists allowed to opponents. He's scored double-digit points in four straight games and is trending in the right direction, but needs some supporting stats to help owners in 12-team leagues. Nov 14 - 10:10 PM

Collin Sexton hit 7-of-18 shots and two 3-pointers for 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and a steal in 33 minutes in Tuesday's 113-89 win over the Hornets.

He easily outplayed Kemba Walker, who hit 2-of-16 shots, and is rolling right now with George Hill (shoulder) out of the picture. The 18 shots were a career high, Sexton has scored between 15-20 points and has played between 33-42 minutes in each of his last three games, and has hit a 3-pointer in four straight games. It only took Hill's shoulder injury to kick start his season, but it's still possible that Hill's return to action could kill it, just as quickly. But with the Cavs only having two at this point, and Sexton figuring out how to play in the NBA, there's a pretty good chance Hill may not have a starting job when he comes back. Sexton's a very hot pickup if you need a guard in your fantasy league right now, but he only has one more game this week.
Nov 13 - 9:43 PM

Collin Sexton scored a career-high 20 points against the Bulls during a 99-98 loss on Saturday, adding four rebounds, three assists and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes.

The matchup helped him because just about everyone can get out of an offensive slump against the Bulls perimeter defense. Sexton is going to be locked in to minutes in the 30s for at least the next two weeks with George Hill (shoulder) out, but Sexton will have a lot of bad games in that time. If you're OK with several annoying stat lines, give him a look in standard leagues.
Nov 10 - 10:32 PM

Larry Drew said he recently had a talk with some of his players who were being critical of Collin Sexton.

"Just didn't think that was fair at all [for our guys] to go at a 19-year-old kid like that," Drew said. "As I told a couple of the guys, hey you were 19 at one point. To step up to this level, I'm sure you would've been in a situation where you were making mistakes too. In order for Collin to learn, he's going to have to make mistakes." It's great to hear that the Cavs' new head coach has Sexton's back, and his minutes should continue to rise as the year goes on.
Nov 8 - 12:06 PM

Collin Sexton made his first NBA start on Wednesday, posting 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting, two rebounds, one 3-pointer, one assist and one block in 42 minutes.

George Hill was a late scratch with "right shoulder soreness" and whether or not it was a valid injury, the writing is on the wall. The Cavaliers have a 1-9 record, they're already on their second head coach of the season, and their max-salary player (Kevin Love) is out for more than a month. Youth will be served and that means plenty of Sexton, who is worth grabbing as a long-term prospect in points leagues -- just don't expect supporting stats in roto.
Nov 7 - 10:16 PM

Collin Sexton will make the start vs. the Thunder on Wednesday.

It'll be his first NBA start and it's not on merit because George Hill (shoulder) is not playing today. Sexton has really struggled and recently a story was written about members of the team saying he doesn't know "how to play" in the NBA. His turnovers will be a problem and he's only handed out 2.2 dimes in his 23.0 minutes per game, but maybe a new role gets him going. He's worth a look as a cheap DFS play or as a flier, but it could be a while before he's a reliable asset in season-long leagues.
Nov 7 - 6:26 PM

According to Joe Vardon of The Athletic, the general feeling within the Cavaliers organization is that Collin Sexton doesn't know "how to play."

The organization feels that he doesn't know how to set his teammates on offense or defend pick and rolls on defense. There's a lot of discord going on within the Cavaliers' organization right now and the team's first round pick isn't immune to any of it. Still, he's their eighth overall selection and has the support of owner Dan Gilbert, meaning he'll be given every chance to succeed. Sexton will be inconsistent, but is worth owning in most leagues.
Nov 4 - 10:05 AM

Collin Sexton scored 12 points with two rebounds, two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes against the Nuggets on Thursday.

He was on his best run of the season and was struggling early, but the Cavs were run out of their own building and Sexton was able to pick up some garbage time. Coach Larry Drew hasn't been as inclined to play Sexton next to George Hill, so that is going to cap his short-term upside. He's still more of a high-upside stash due to the likelihood of bad games over the next month or so.
Nov 1 - 9:23 PM

Collin Sexton scored a season-high 17 points vs. the Hawks on Tuesday to go with eight rebounds, three assists, one block and one triple.

George Hill actually played good too with 17 points, but Sexton saw 28 minutes compared to 20 for Hill. The veteran is still the starter for now, but we know how this story ends -- the tanking Cavaliers will eventually hand the keys of the offense over to their point guard of the future. Sexton is a guy you want to own at the end of your bench right now.
Oct 30 - 10:25 PM

Collin Sexton scored 14 points with three rebounds, one assist and two turnovers in 25 minutes against the Nets on Wednesday.

It won't be long until coach Ty Lue has to consider starting his lottery point guard. Sexton also played 11 minutes next to Hill in the first three games of the year and saw time next to him tonight, so he may have a path to 28-30 minutes in the near future. He's still more of a stash because the bad games will be there, but the poor performance from the Cavs is a positive for Sexton's fantasy value.
Oct 24 - 9:34 PM

Collin Sexton hit just 2-of-11 shots for four points, two rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes in Sunday's 133-111 loss to the Hawks.

The minutes were a career high, as were the shots, but they just weren't falling. The positives outweigh the negatives here as Sexton climbs the ladder toward a starting job. For now, George Hill is still the guy, but it shouldn't be too much longer before we see Sexton start to take on a leadership role with this young team. He's a nice stash right now for owners with patience.
Oct 21 - 8:57 PM

Collin Sexton made 6-of-9 from the field for 14 points with two rebounds, one assist and no turnovers in 23 minutes against the Wolves on Friday.

He only scored four points in the first half before a fantastic fourth got him to 10 points in the second half. Sexton had a brutal start to his career on Wednesday, but it's common knowledge in fantasy that most rookie point guards need some seasoning before they bring the tasty stats on a consistent basis. If you drafted Sexton around 100, it may take some patience.
Oct 20 - 12:05 AM

Collin Sexton finished his first NBA game with nine points (2-of-7 FGs, 5-of-5 FTs), three rebounds and four turnovers in 18 minutes.

The No. 8 pick should overtake George Hill for the starting PG job eventually, but for now the Cavs are content to let him develop in a reserve role. He didn't have a great preseason with 9.8 points on 41.2% shooting, 1.0 triples, 2.8 boards, 2.5 assists, 2.0 turnovers and zero steals or blocks in four games. There's upside here but roto owners may want to keep him benched until he displays reliable value.
Oct 17 - 11:54 PM

Collin Sexton hit just 1-of-7 shots for three points, four rebounds, three assists and three turnovers in 22 minutes of Monday's loss to the Pacers.

We still love him as a sleeper fantasy point guard, but he's young and will have his ups and downs. Despite tonight's performance, the clock would appear to be ticking on George Hill's time as a starter, with Sexton eyeing his job. The duo started alongside each other tonight, and Hill hit just 3-of-10 shots for 10 points, seven boards, five assists, four steals and a 3-pointer. So at least the plan worked out for one of them.
Oct 8 - 9:21 PM

Collin Sexton got the start with the Cavs resting players on Saturday, scoring 13 points with one rebound, one assist, two 3-pointers and no turnovers in 19 minutes against the Celtics.

He continues to show off all the work he put on his jumper with his 4-of-6 from the field today, and he's also been effective on his jumpers in his previous outings, as well. Sexton has been serviceable on the defensive end so far, and it's feeling like he'll take over as the starter in a matter of weeks and not months. Even if he doesn't earn the starting job behind George Hill, Sexton's late-season upside makes him someone to consider once your draft gets to triple digits. Hey, maybe even before that given Hill's injury history.
