Aaron McKie is "someone to watch" in the Sixers coaching search, according to the Boston Globe.
Currently an assistant on Philadelphia's staff, McKie formerly played for Philly and knows both the team and area well. He's certainly an intriguing candidate, but it's not yet clear if the team views him as someone capable of taking over the full-time role. Sun, Apr 28, 2013 09:26:00 AM

The Lakers are expected to put Shammond Williams, Aaron McKie and Chris Mihm on their inactive list for Game 1 against the Suns.

Playoff roster sizes this year have been expanded from 13 to 15 players, with each team designating 12 active players and three inactive players before each game. McKie has only played 24 games over the past two seasons because of injuries.

Aaron McKie has averaged over 11 MPG and Shammond Williams has played 17 MPG as the Lakers have won their past three games and Coach Jackson is impressed with the spark the vets have provided.

"We had to go with some veteran guys who know how to play," said Jackson. "You know if things (balls) come to them, they're going to shoot, and Aaron has the reputation of being a defensive stopper." From the sounds of it, these two vets could take some PT away from Sasha Vujacic and Jordan Farmar.

Aaron McKie (back) made his season debut Friday night against the Nuggets.

McKie, who missed the first 32 games of the season with his nagging back injury, logged five scoreless minutes in the Lakers win. He won't likely get a ton of playing time off coach Phil Jackson's bench though.

Aaron McKie has been practicing with the Lakers, but his return date is still uncertain.

McKie, out with a back injury, probably won't have any value even when he does return.

Aaron McKie sat out Friday's intra-squad scrimmage due to a sore back.

McKie played in only 14 games last season with the Lakers because of a torn left quadriceps tendon that wasn't fully healed until this summer. Smush Parker is expected to get the majority of playing time at the point again this year.

Aaron McKie (quadriceps) was on the active list and in uniform Tuesday night against the Kings, but did not play.

The veteran had been inactive for the previous 50 games. He was averaging only 0.3 points and 0.6 assists when he was injured. "He's legitimately cleared to play but … timing and NBA game-style, he's not ready," Laker Coach Phil Jackson said. "This is the time for Aaron to see if he is ready and if he can play and then we'll make assessments from there about him helping us in the playoffs."

It remains unclear when Aaron McKie (quadriceps) will return from his injury.

McKie has missed the past 44 games with the injury and the Lakers are considering adding another shooting guard for the home stretch. "If we knew Aaron could come back and we could count on him, we wouldn't be as concerned as we are looking at having to go through the rest of this season and the playoffs with this really young guard crew," coach Phil Jackson said. Jimmy Jackson, Penny Hardaway and Rick Brunson are all candidates to join L.A. for the final couple months.

Aaron McKie (quadriceps) said he was about a week away from returning.

The injury has sidelined him for 18 games. "The big thing with Aaron is he's got to get healthy," coach Phil Jackson said. "That's a very unusual injury. … He's got to have a really good recovery."
