The Pistons are not interested in Jerry Stackhouse as a potential head coaching candidate, according to the Detroit Free Press.

When the Pistons fired Stan Van Gundy, it was assumed that Stackhouse would be one of the favorites to replace him. Stackhouse is widely viewed as a coaching star on the rise, and he was a two-time All-Star as a member of the Pistons during his playing days. However, this report indicates that he apparently "does rub some people the wrong way."

The Pistons are likely to consider Jerry Stackhouse and Becky Hammon for their vacant head coaching position, according to Detroit reporter Rod Beard.

We heard Stackhouse's name attached to the Pistons job shortly after Stan Van Gundy was fired. However, Hammon is now also being linked to the Detroit opening. "She is an interesting — and by all accounts, qualified — candidate," a league source who declined to comment on specific coaching searches told The Detroit News. "She’s a legitimate candidate for a head-coaching job, alongside several other rising assistant coaches in the league."

Jerry Stackhouse and Mike Budenholzer are potential head coaching candidates for the Pistons, according to Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press.

Stackhouse spent five seasons in Detroit during his playing career, and twice represented the Pistons in the All-Star game. An up-and-coming coach, he may be considered the odds-on favorite to land the Detroit job. Vincent Ellis also tweeted out that the Pistons may look to bring in former Cavs GM David Griffin as the team's next general manager.

If Stackhouse sitting with new Bucks' head coach Jason Kidd, general manager John Hammond and assistant general manager David Morway at a summer league game on Monday is any indication, the former Milwaukee fan favorite could soon be joining Kidd's staff. In a recent interview, Jerry Stackhouse stated he would like to become an NBA coach.

"I’d like to coach at the pro level," Stackhouse said. "I had some dialogue with Atlanta last summer... I met with Phil [Jackson] a couple weeks ago about possibly about doing something with their staff... [But] I think [Jackson] is still figuring it out. He doesn’t know who the head coach is going to be, but I think after that is settled, there could be some realistic possibilities." While Stack would like to eventually be a head coach, he wouldn't mind paying his dues as an assistant, even at the college or high school level.
