The Suns will tryout a handful of point guards on Monday for their final roster spot, which must be filled by Wednesday. Dee Brown, Damon Stoudamire, Troy Hudson, Darrell Armstrong, Eddie Gill and Walker Russell Jr. will participate.
It appears the Suns don't have much faith in Goran Dragic, and the departure of Sean Singletary has left them thin behind Steve Nash. No matter who wins the job, they won't have fantasy value. Sat, Dec 20, 2008 09:22:00 PM

A nearly five-year-old misdemeanor marijuana case against Spurs guard Damon Stoudamire has been dismissed.

The case dates back to July 2003, when Stoudamire was arrested after a half-ounce of marijuana allegedly fell from his pants in a Tucson airport. As part of a settlement, Stoudamire completed a rehab program and urine tests, which were negative.

Damon Stoudamire hit just 3-of-11 shots on Sunday after coming off the bench behind Jacque Vaughn.

We're not sure why Stoudamire lost his job to Vaughn, but at this point, Michael Finley looks like a better pickup than either point guard.

Damon Stoudamire will come off the bench for the Spurs on Sunday.

Jacque Vaughn got the start today, after Stoudamire had started the last three games at point guard. Regardless of who starts, the two will share minutes until Tony Parker returns.

Damon Stoudamire hit 3-of-7 shots, all 3-pointers, to score nine points and finished with four rebounds and three assists in 22 minutes of Wednesday's win over the Wizards.

He's coming along slowly but surely, and outplayed Jacque Vaughn tonight.

Damon Stoudamire started at point guard for the Spurs on Tuesday and scored 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting.

He hit a couple threes, but failed to record an assist. It's too early to get him in your lineup, but for not knowing the system, his debut has to be deemed a success. Jacque Vaughn was solid in a backup role, hitting 7-of-8 shots to finish with 16 points and five assists, but Stoudamire should eventually outperform him each night.

Despite an earlier report that he would come off the bench, Damon Stoudamire started at point guard for the Spurs on Tuesday.

That didn't take long. We'll let you know how he looked after the game.

Point guard Damon Stoudamire is expected to come off the Spurs bench, as he acclimates to his new team.

Manu Ginobili will start at point guard but shouldn't play 40+ minutes, as he has in the past two games. As a reserve player, expect Stoudamire to have only mediocre fantasy value, even with Tony Parker sidelined until after the All Star break.

Damon Stoudamire officially signed with the Spurs on Sunday.

He could begin starting at point guard immediately for the Spurs with Tony Parker sidelined. However, it would make more sense for him to come off the bench for a game or two as he learns the new system and gets into game shape. Either way, Stoudamire should be a hot pickup.

Damon Stoudamire is expected to sign his contract with the Spurs on Sunday and then practice with the team for the first time later today.

He's a bit risky to use next week as it could take him some time to get back into game shape, as well as learn a new offense. But with Tony Parker down, Stoudamire's probably going to be thrown into the fire Tuesday at Indiana, when he's expected to make his debut.

Damon Stoudamire plans on signing with the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday morning when he clears waivers, according to his agent, Aaron Goodwin.

He'll join the rotation immediately, although we won't know the results of Tony Parker's MRI until Thursday. Parker has been shut down for the time being so he can recover from bone spurs in his heel. Stoudamire is worth a fantasy pickup in most leagues, and should be playing as early as this weekend.

Damon Stoudamire is expected to sign with the Spurs once he clears waivers on Wednesday, according to unnamed NBA sources.

The Celtics were thought to have been the front-runners, but it looks like the Spurs wooed him to San Antonio. The timing of Tony Parker's (heel) benching makes a lot more sense in light of this news. If the report is true, Stoudamire will likely share point guard duties with Jacque Vaughn.

ESPN is reporting that Damon Stoudamire is not likely to sign with the Boston Celtics when he clears waivers on Wednesday.

He's set to talk with the Spurs and Suns on Tuesday, while the Raptors are also still in the picture. As for the Celtics, Danny Ainge has said he doesn't want to disrupt team chemistry, which is good news for the fantasy future of Rajon Rondo.

Damon Stoudamire was officially waived by the Grizzlies on Monday.

The Celtics, Spurs, Raptors and Suns all have interest in Stoudamire, who will be an unrestricted free agent at 6 P.M. EST Wednesday assuming he clears waivers as expected. If Stoudamire ends up with the Celtics, he could have some immediate fantasy value.

It would make sense for Damon Stouadmire, recently bought out by the Grizzlies, to sign a deal with the Boston Celtics once he clears waivers.

The C's are thin at point guard, opening the door for Stoudamire to not only get heavy minutes, but perhaps even start over Rajon Rondo. Stoudamire is also reportedly being courted by the Suns and Raptors, but we're guessing he has less interest in being guaranteed a backup role behind Steve Nash and Jose Calderon/T.J. Ford. There's no need to grab Stoudamire in standard leagues just yet, but if you're in a very deep league and need a point guard, he's probably worth a flier.
