Antoine Walker told his D-League teammates on Saturday that he has decided to retire.
Walker had some wonderful, shimmy-worthy moments in college and the NBA (see below), but he squandered his fortune and has been battling mountains of debt in recent years. Hopefully he can settle his financial problems and find a successful post-pro career. Sun, Apr 8, 2012 02:27:00 AM

Antoine Walker was sentenced Tuesday to five years of probation and ordered to pay $770,050 in restitution to three Las Vegas casinos after pleading guilty to failing to repay gambling debts.

This case is finally over and it remains to be seen if or when Toine pays off those debts, as well as whether or not he resumes his D-League career. Either way, his NBA days are long over.

Antoine Walker has been waived by the Idaho Stampede of the D-League due to "personal reasons."

Walker has had major problems with gambling debt, so it's possible that the personal problems here pertain to that. He could surface with another D-League team if he wants to try to keep his fading hoops career alive.

Antoine Walker, who is bankrupt and owes three casinos $750,000 in gambling debts, is expected to be sentenced to probation on Thursday in Nevada after pleading guilty to failing to repay his debt in June.

In addition to probation, Walker is expected to promise to repay the debts incurred at the Planet Hollywood, Red Rock Casino Resort, and Caesars Palace in Vegas. The former NBA star is set to play with the D-League's Idaho Stampede this season.

Antoine Walker will re-sign with the D-League's Idaho Stampede.

His NBA career is over, but at least he's making (mini) headlines for something other than his gambling debt problems.

Antoine Walker has agreed to a deal with the Idaho Stampede in the D-League.

Walker will make $25,000, a far cry from an NBA salary, but he's still working to pay debts that he accrued by writing bad checks in Las Vegas. Last season with the Stampede he averaged 16 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists.

Ex-NBA star Antoine Walker pleaded guilty to passing bad checks, or markers, in Las Vegas.

Walker's financial and gambling troubles have been well documented. He was sentenced to probation and must work toward paying off $750,000 in debts to Caesars Palace and Red Rock casinos. Walker is currently playing for the NBADL's Idaho Stampede.

Antoine Walker is expected to sign with the Idaho Stampede of the D-League, if he passes the league's standard background check.

We're not quite sure what to say here. He's 34, in some financial trouble and likely a pretty big boy these days, although several reports indicate he's in good shape. He'll take his shimmy to the D-League in hopes of making it back to the bigs, but we don't expect to see him in an NBA uniform any time soon, if ever again.

Antoine Walker could join a D-League team as early as Monday, in another bid to return to the NBA.

The 34-year-old SF worked out with Charlotte in September but wasn't even invited to training camp. He's a longshot to be called up, and even if he is there's no reason to think he'll have fantasy relevance.

Bobcats beat writer Rick Bonnell reports that Antoine Walker "clearly is back in shape" as he takes part in pickup games with the Bobcats.

Walker isn't guaranteed to be a part of Bobcats' training camp, but he could be on his way to returning to the NBA for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign.

Antoine Walker is expected to join the Bobcats for daily pickup games prior to the start of training camp on September 28th.

Walker is friends with Bobcats center Nazr Mohammed and has a relationship with Michael Jordan, but there is no guarantee that he'll actually be invited to training camp. 'Toine is working overtime to earn an NBA paycheck this season and does appear to have lost significant weight, but he's no longer a serious fantasy option.

Antoine Walker is trying to work his way back onto an NBA roster, and his uncle said that "four to six" teams are interested in the 34-year-old former All-Star.

Walker has been working out with coach Rick Pitino and has reportedly lost 20 pounds, but it seems unlikely that we'll see him in the NBA again. He has had a recent spate of problems, including a DUI charge, gambling debt, bum real estate deals, and a bankruptcy filing in May.

Former star Antoine Walker is due in a Vegas court for failing to repay about $900,000 in gambling debts and penalties to three casinos.

He's been unable to land a basketball deal and recently filed for bankruptcy. The felony criminal charges in Nevada could get Walker probation or up to 12 years in prison.

Former Miami Heat forward Antoine Walker has filed for personal bankruptcy protection, Crain's Chicago Business has reported.

Walker reportedly filed for Chapter 7 after being served with a $2.3-million foreclosure suit on a Chicago home he bought for his mother. Walker lists liabilities of $12.74 million and assets of $4.28 million, and his assets include his 2006 Heat NBA championship ring.

The Associated Press reports that Antoine Walker is eyeing a return to the NBA.

Walker last played in the NBA in 2008, and his return to the game could be at least partially motivated by finances. In November, Walker agreed to pay more than $900,000 to settle bad check charges with three Las Vegas casinos.
