Ty Corbin has been relieved of his head coaching duties by the Sacramento Kings.
This comes as no surprise as the Kings' addition of George Karl has been the worst-kept secret in the NBA. The Kings' treatment of Corbin has caused an uproar among current and former NBA head coaches, but he'll reportedly stay with the team as an advisor to their front office. Awkward! Feb 12 - 12:56 PM

The Kings have told Ty Corbin that he'll coach the next two games.

There is nothing definite, but those are likely going to be his last two games has head coach. The Kings are getting closer to bringing on George Karl and it is expected to happen over the All-Star break. Corbin will likely wind up as an assistant somewhere in the near future. As for the Kings, they will likely get more shots in the paint and should improve on getting more free throw attempts, which is already one of DeMarcus Cousins' strengths.

The Kings are ramping up their search for a new head coach, but do not have a timetable.

The All-Star break seems to be the time the team will make a switch. It's fairly clear that coach Ty Corbin has lost his team to some degree and DeMarcus Cousins saying the team having a players' only meaning won't help speaks volumes. Considering the lack of depth on the Kings, there shouldn't be much fantasy value changing hands with the personnel in place.

Tyrone Corbin will be the head coach of the Kings for the rest of the season, as reported first by Cowbell Kingdom and confirmed by Aaron Bruski.

"You need to hear it – it's done," Corbin said. "But as I said when I took over, we’re here together until something changes." After the Kings fired Mike Malone, there was some unrest with a lot of the players so it will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out for the Kings.

Coach Ty Corbin criticized the Kings' recent defensive effort.

Predictably, the Kings have suffered defensively since the dismissal of Mike Malone as head coach. "We don’t complete plays," Corbin said. "We have 15 seconds of good defense or 20 seconds of good defense and end up not getting a stop or giving them a second opportunity or they slip backdoor because we over-rotate." DeMarcus Cousins wants the Kings "getting back to that mindset."

The Kings have officially hired Tyrone Corbin to serve as head coach Mike Malone's lead assistant.

Corbin is coming off a four-year stint as Utah's head coach so he's no stranger to player development, which will be critical on the Kings' young roster.

Ty Corbin is in the interview process to be an assistant with the Kings.

It is believed to be in the "very early stages." Corbin was fired by the Jazz last month and he'll need to prove himself again as an assistant. His Jazz team really struggled last year, but mostly due to their inexperience.

The Utah Jazz have announced on Monday that head coach Tyrone Corbin will not have his contract renewed.

Corbin's tenure was only four short seasons, including his stint as interim coach in the 2010-2011 season. Still the decision was not easy for general manager Dennis Lindsey. "This has not been an easy decision, but ... [we] feel that this is the best decision for our franchise moving forward," Lindsey said. According to Yahoo!, Jim Boylen is a candidate to take over as the head coach, but nothing is imminent. The Jazz have some young pieces and will likely pick high in the draft, but they have their work cut out for themselves to be a playoff contender.

The Jazz will not bring Ty Corbin back for the 2014-15 season, according to Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News.

It seemed like Corbin was on thin ice considering how his team was the worst in the Western Conference. Plus, he wasn't even a lock to make it through the season in the last year of his deal. With Corbin out, the team doesn't seem to have any candidates that jump right out, but there should be some reports in the coming days.

The Jazz will have a decision on coach Ty Corbin's future "in short order," according to general manager Dennis Lindsey.

"When we spoke to Ty and his representation during the year, we laid out [that] we wanted to take the full season," Lindsey said. "We want to take a small period now for all of us — Ty included — to decompress so we’re not making a decision based on the last possession of the last game." The Jazz finished with the worst record in the Western Conference and Corbin has been on thin ice since September.

The Jazz are not likely to extend coach Tyrone Corbin's contract, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Corbin enters the final year of his contract as a lame-duck coach with a rookie PG (Trey Burke) and an untested starting frontcourt (Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter). Favors and Gordon Hayward are the most likely guys to lead Utah in scoring this season, and Corbin's staff will be focused as much on player development as winning games.

The Jazz are on the verge of hiring agent Justin Zanik as the team's assistant general manager, a source told ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

The Jazz didn't have an assistant GM last season, with Kevin O'Connor serving as the executive VP of basketball operations. Zanik has worked with agent Andy Miller over the past few years and represent several players, including Serge Ibaka.

Former University of Utah star Alex Jensen met with Jazz brass Tuesday and could join Tyrone Corbin's coaching staff, according to the Deseret News.

Most recently, Jensen was named the D-League's Coach of the Year for the 2012-13 season. Prior to that, he was an assistant under Utah coach Rick Majreus when Majerus was coaching at the University of St. Louis. The Jazz are shuffling their staff a bit following the departure of Jeff Hornacek, who was named head coach of the Suns.

The Jazz aren't relying on the draft to find a starting point guard for the 2013-14 season.

The Jazz have worked out Dennis Schroeder, C.J. McCollum and Michael Carter-Williams, among other prospects, but it's a stretch to think they'll find a starting-caliber rookie PG with the No. 14 pick. "If it don't happen in the draft you've got the free agency to look at," said Tyrone Corbin. "And then there could be trade situations, too." At the moment, Utah doesn't have a single PG under contract.

Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey says Tyrone Corbin has the full confidence of Lindsey and the team's ownership.

Of course, Lindsey then followed that up by saying "the gloves will come off when he and Corbin would meet next week to evaluate the Jazz going forward. While votes of confidence are worth almost nothing, the Jazz played with an extraordinary number of pending free agents this season, including big men Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap. It wouldn't be a total shock to see Corbin get the axe, but we think he'll survive at least another year.
