Defensive great Bruce Bowen will announce his retirement Thursday after 12 seasons in the NBA.
Bowen, 38, reached the end of the line after being traded from the Spurs to the Bucks this summer and then getting bought out. A couple elite teams sniffed around, but nothing happened. He'll be remembered for his eight seasons for the Spurs, three NBA titles and his battles trying to stop Kobe Bryant. Thu, Sep 3, 2009 10:57:00 AM

Free agent Bruce Bowen will soon decide between joining the Celtics or the Cavaliers, according to Hoopsworld.com.

The Magic had been mentioned as a possible suitor, but have fallen out of the picture, while a return to San Antonio appears "unlikely." The Celtics are "said to be holding off on signing Marquis Daniels" while they ponder adding Bowen, though there's no doubt Daniels gives them greater versatility.

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Bruce Bowen may retire after being released by the Bucks, but he might also be getting some interest from the Magic.

Bowen was a terrific defender and a solid 3-point shooter, but he was never a good fantasy player. His whereabouts shouldn't impact any drafts this season.

The Bucks released forward Bruce Bowen on Friday.

He was buried on the depth chart with so many forwards in Milwaukee, and will be free to sign with any team once he clears waivers. As usual, he shouldn't be considered in any fantasy leagues, regardless of where he lands.

Bruce Bowen's expiring contract is being shopped by the Bucks, and he'll likely be waived if they're unable to move him.

He would be waived by Aug. 1, making him a free agent. However, it doesn't sound like there's a chance he will rejoin the Spurs.

Bruce Bowen was traded from the Spurs to the Bucks on Tuesday, part of a 3-for-1 deal for Richard Jefferson.

Bowen, whose contract is only partially guaranteed, is expected to be waived by the Bucks. It's possible that he'll re-sign with the Spurs this offseason, but the aging defensive specialist won't help fantasy owners no matter where he lands.

Bruce Bowen will start in place of Roger Mason Jr. in Saturday's Game 4 against the Mavericks.

Gregg Popovich is trying to spark his team after an embarrassing loss, but it's interesting that he's benching his third-leading scorer for a defensive specialist. Mason should still get plenty of minutes and shots off the bench tonight.

Spurs veteran Bruce Bowen came off the bench on Tuesday for the first time in 550 games.

Bowen responded with a typically low-key game: 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, three three-pointers and four rebounds in 28 minutes. Again, it just points out how decimated the Spurs are by injuries...he hasn't been a reserve since the year 2000.

Bruce Bowen played only 12 minutes in Tuesday's loss to Dallas, primarily because Jason Terry's speed trumped Bowen's physical style of play.

Bowen wasn't the only Spur to have a rough night-—besides Duncan and Parker (who each shot 8-of-15) the Spurs were a combined 14-of-42 from the field.

Spurs defensive stalwart Bruce Bowen returned from a one-game suspension on Saturday, finishing with 10 points, one rebound and one assist in 37 minutes of play.

Only Bowen posts lines like this and gets away with it. His fantasy value is thin but he's healthy and plays consistent minutes, for what it's worth.

Bruce Bowen has been suspended one game by the NBA for striking Chris Paul with his leg. He will miss tonight's game against the Pistons, ending his steak of consecutive games played at 500.

The incident occurred in Wednesday's blowout loss to New Orleans, when Bowen got physical with Paul on a few occasions. Bowen offers nothing but threes and a few steals for fantasy purposes, but if you have him, bench him tonight.

Bruce Bowen finished Thursday's game against the Mavs with 14 points, four rebounds and two blocks. He blocked Jason Terry's potential game-tying layup and the Mavericks never got the ball back.

This is only the sixth blurb we've written about Bowen all season. His 'defensive enforcer' role doesn't produce terrific fantasy numbers, so we tend to overlook his contributions to the Spurs. Jason Terry got a technical foul after Bowen got under his skin, another of Bowen's obscure specialties.

Bruce Bowen extended the NBA's longest active consecutive games played streak to 475 in Monday's win at Charlotte.

Bowen finished with four points, four rebounds and three assists, but his defense is his biggest asset. The Spurs held Bobcats top-two scorers, Gerald Wallace and Jason Richardson, to 5-for-18 shooting each.

With Tim Duncan and Tony Parker struggling, and Manu Ginobili in street clothes, Bruce Bowen hit 5-of-10 shots and two threes to lead the Spurs with 15 points on Friday.

It's a good thing Bowen was on tonight or the Spurs may have gotten beat by the Knicks at home. Bowen has no fantasy value, except in super-deep leagues.
