Anthony Parker, who retired in June after nine NBA seasons, has been hired as a scout for the Magic.
Parker is widely admired for his character, and would be a quality addition to any franchise. Depending upon his interests, it shouldn't take him long to transition from the scouting department to some team's coaching staff. Sat, Aug 18, 2012 02:56:00 PM

Anthony Parker has officially announced his retirement after nine seasons in the NBA.

The 37-year-old swingman finishes with career averages of 9.1 points (40.4 percent from downtown), 3.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 0.9 steals per game. He established a reputation as one of the league's quality veteran leaders, and his presence will be sorely missed in the Cavs' locker room.

Anthony Parker is unlikely to return to the Cavs next season.

Retirement has already been listed as an option, but the Cavs need to get younger at shooting guard and Parker is an unrestricted free agent. With averages of just 7.3 points and 2.7 rebounds, the veteran may have to settle for a minimum contract if he wants to continue playing. His troublesome back was a problem again this season, and that issue is unlikely to subside as he gets older.

Anthony Parker played 23 minutes in Monday's loss to the Grizzlies, scoring five points on 1-of-4 shooting (including a three) with three rebounds, three assists, and a steal.

Parker was used in many leagues during the Cavs' three-game week for his versatile, albeit modest numbers, but we might have gotten a glimpse of how he wants to go out tonight. Parker, set to retire after this year, would likely be given his choice of workloads heading out the door, and in this close contest he was content to take a limited role. Expect more of the same going forward, with anything more being a nice surprise.

Anthony Parker is "likely" to retire at the end of the season.

Parker previously called retirement an option, so nothing shocking here. The veteran shooting guard is averaging just 7.3 points per game and has battled a bad back this season.

Anthony Parker hit 4-of-5 shots for 15 points, five assists and a steal on Saturday, but didn't hit a 3-pointer in 27 minutes.

He took an arm to the throat but was able to stay in the game. He should hit some 3-pointers on most nights, but it's hard to be displeased with the 15 & 5.

Anthony Parker played 37 minutes on Wednesday, but had just seven points, three reboudns, three assists, a steal and a 3-pointer in the overtime loss.

Parker was getting physically punished all night, taking a hit to his already bruised sternum as well as several other nagging injuries. He played through them and as long as the minutes remain high, the production should follow, as the Cavaliers prepare for games on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Anthony Parker returned from a bruised sternum on Tuesday and hit 7-of-11 shots and four 3-pointers on his way to 19 points, two rebounds, one assist and two steals in a win over the Bobcats.

Parker had 27 points in his last game (Wednesday) before missing a couple with the injury, and is officially hot for the Cavaliers. With four more games this week, he's worth a serious look in almost any league.

Anthony Parker (sternum) will start in Tuesday's game against the Bobcats.

Parker's return sends Manny Harris back to the bench. However, a red-hot Lester Hudson is expected to stick as the third/scoring guard off the bench. Parker did have 27 points in his last outing, but on the season he's averaged just 6.8 points in his 39 starts.

Anthony Parker (sternum) is probable for Tuesday against the Bobcats.

Parker's likely return to the starting five shouldn't hamper Lester Hudson, as Hudson should remain the third guard off the bench. Manny Harris will likely lose his role in the rotation, but there is nothing to get excited about by Parker's return. He is averaging just 6.8 points in 39 starts this season. We'll need to see more than one 27-point performance to believe there is sustainable value to be had here.
Tue, Apr 10, 2012 11:30:00 AM

Anthony Parker (sternum) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Bobcats.

If Parker can play, he'd likely slide right back into his customary starting shooting guard role. Lester Hudson would remain the third guard and Manny Harris would fade into the background. Parker has averaged a mere 6.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in his 39 starts this season, but is coming off of a 27-point, seven-rebound, four-assist, and three-steal explosion that included an 11-of-14 mark from the field and four threes. He'll be looked toward for leadership among the banged up Cavs backcourt, but even with five games is a risk not knowing his status.

Anthony Parker (bruised sternum) has been ruled out for the next two games.

This puts him out for Friday's game against the Raptors and Sunday's game against the Nets. Manny Harris will draw the start in place of Parker, and should see a fair share of minutes considering how banged-up the Cavaliers currently are heading into Friday's contest.
Fri, Apr 6, 2012 11:28:00 AM

Anthony Parker got hot and hit 11-of-14 shots and four 3-pointers on his way to a season-high 27 points to go along with seven rebounds, four assists and three steals on Wednesday.

Parker has struggled all season, but finally got it going tonight. The Cavs play five times in the upcoming week, and Parker could be a sneaky fantasy play if he can stay hot. And with Kyrie Irving out for up to 10 days with a shoulder injury, Parker should get plenty of minutes alongside new point guard Donald Sloan.
Wed, Apr 4, 2012 11:16:00 PM

Anthony Parker scored six points on 2-of-10 shooting with four rebounds and four assists in the Cavs' 121-84 blowout loss to the Bucks on Friday.

The story of the night was Kyrie Irving's shoulder injury, and though the rookie is talking like he will play on Saturday we'll wait for the final report before believing him. The Cavs aren't going to endanger the future of the franchise for meaningless games, and if Irving misses time then Parker will be the next man up to handle the ball.
Sat, Mar 31, 2012 12:42:00 AM

Anthony Parker admitted that retirement is an option for him after this season.

"It's something I would consider after the season," he said. Parker will turn 37 in June and his contract expires at the end of the season. He's struggled to stay healthy this season and is averaging just 6.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists on 40 percent shooting in 25 minutes per game.
