Tracy McGrady played five minutes, missed his only shot and failed to score in Sunday's Game 4, and will finally advance to Round 2 of the playoffs for the first time in his career after the Spurs easily swept the lifeless and injured Lakers.
He made his Spurs debut tonight in garbage time, but it's hard to imagine him having much of an impact for the Spurs this postseason. Apr 28 - 9:32 PM

Tracy McGrady is not active for the Spurs on Friday.

The signing of T-Mac was a good bit of fun on April 16, but he's looking like just some emergency depth. The good news is that it looks like his team will be advancing to the second round.
Apr 26 - 10:02 PM

Tracy McGrady is unlikely to be active for Game 2.

T-Mac was inactive for Game 1, and Gregg Popovich said the team is "going real slow" with the veteran, again referring to him as an insurance policy. He's not going to make a significant contribution at any point in the near future.

Tracy McGrady is inactive for Sunday's Game 1 vs. the Lakers.

Well, it would have been fun to see T-Mac out there, but we're going to have to wait a little longer. The Spurs have some depth on the wing with Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard and Manu Ginobili expected to play 25-30 minutes, so they shouldn't miss McGrady too much.
Apr 21 - 3:32 PM

Tracy McGrady will not play on Wednesday, and he may not be ready for a couple of weeks, according to Gregg Popovich.

If he's really not going to be ready for a couple of weeks, it's hard to understand why the Spurs signed him instead of someone who could contribute immediately. It will be interesting to see what kind of impact he has during the playoffs if he has one at all.

Spurs signed G/F Tracy McGrady.

Yes, that Tracy McGrady. The seven-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA first-teamer and two-time scoring champ hasn't appeared in an NBA game since last year's playoffs. But he's still "just" 33 years old and has spent this season dominating the Chinese league. With Stephen Jackson kicked to the curb by coach Gregg Popovich and Boris Diaw out indefinitely, McGrady might actually see some bit minutes in the playoffs. It remains to be seen if his balky knees and back can hold up to the physicality of the NBA game.
Apr 16 - 4:32 PM

Tracy McGrady's team in China has a 2-17 record, and he recently threatened to leave if the league's officiating doesn't improve.

"This bad officiating has to change," McGrady wrote. "No way I'm coming back if the officiating continues to be this errant." It's discouraging that the former All-Star is publicly pointing fingers after 19 games in a new league, and he should probably focus on improving his 27.8 percent shooting from downtown. It's very unlikely that we'll see him in the NBA again.

Tracy McGrady has signed a one-year deal with Qingdao of the Chinese Basketball Association.

It would appear that no NBA team was willing to roll the dice on the oft-injured swingman. The NBA's scoring champ from the 2002-03 season may have taken his last shot in the NBA.

Tracy McGrady is finalizing a one-year deal to play with Qingdao of the Chinese Basketball Association.

Playing with Yao Ming made him a star in China, so after he could not secure an NBA deal this move made logical sense. It's possible we won't see him in an NBA uniform ever again.

Tracy Mcgrady, who is drawing interest from a team in China, is focused on signing with an NBA team.

T-Mac wants to play for a contender, but his market has been bone dry other than a couple of workouts late in free agency. It will likely take an injury in training camp for a contender to really consider McGrady for a bench role.

Tracy McGrady "appeared to be in good health" during his Knicks workout, a source tells ESPN New York.

However, "it doesn't appear that a signing is imminent," which should surprise nobody considering T-Mac isn't really a good fit for the final spot on the Knicks roster. It's more likely that New York uses its final roster spot on a big man.

Tracy McGrady worked out for the Spurs this week and will work out for the Knicks on Thursday, sources tell Yahoo! Sports.

T-Mac hasn't been able to find work to date as he's looking for a team willing to guarantee his contract for next season. Interestingly, McGrady may be faced with the decision to either accept a "make-good" contract or take his game overseas, potentially to China. He's going to have to prove his knees can hold up regardless of where he signs.

Tracy McGrady "might" work out for the Bobcats, according to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer.

Bonnell cautions that it would be "all informal and exploratory," comparing McGrady's potential workout to Josh Howard's recent go-around with the Bobcats. Charlotte may be looking for a veteran wing player to mentor the Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Jeff Taylor, but McGrady's time as a factor in fantasy basketball has been over for a while.

The Bulls are no longer talking to unrestricted free agent Tracy McGrady about a possible role off their bench.

Although they had been linked to T-Mac this summer, once Chicago signed first-round pick Marquis Teague to his contract worth 100 percent of the rookie scale, it makes it impossible for them to now sign McGrady without making a trade or buying out a player. T-Mac averaged 5.3 points, 3 rebounds and 2.1 assists as a backup in Atlanta last year and has said he wants to join a contender's bench this season.

The Bulls "might add Tracy McGrady" to their backcourt, according to beat writer K.C. Johnson.

Chicago may also stand pat after signing Kirk Hinrich, Marco Belinelli and Nate Robinson in quick succession. T-Mac averaged 16 minutes in 52 games for the Hawks last season, scoring 5.3 points on 43.7 percent shooting, with 3.0 rebounds and 2.1 steals.
