James Borrego will serve as the Orlando Magic's interim head coach.
Borrego had been serving as an assistant for the ousted Jacque Vaughn and will now keep the head coaching seat warm for whoever the Magic decide to bring in. Jacque Vaughn has been fired by the Orlando Magic, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

The search for Vaughn's replacement will now ensue, with Scott Skiles being mentioned as a potential replacement. The embattled Vaughn had been using some unusual rotations of late, so the change should be welcomed by fantasy owners of younger players such as Elfrid Payton, Tobias Harris, Aaron Gordon, and Kyle O'Quinn.

The firing of Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn is expected to be imminent, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

This move wouldn't come as a complete shock as Vaughn has been on the hot seat and the Magic have now lost ten consecutive games. Vaughn's firing would theoretically take his unique rotations with him, so younger players like Aaron Gordon and Kyle O'Quinn should see a playing time boost under a new coach.

Updating a previous report, Jacque Vaughn could be fired as early as Monday.

According to sources of Yahoo! Sports, while Vaughn will remain the head coach of the Magic for Saturday's game vs. Dallas, his job security beyond Orlando's two-game road trip (which begins on Monday) is uncertain at this point. When Vaughn is eventually fired, it'll be interesting to see how Kyle O'Quinn and Aaron Gordon are incorporated into the rotation under their new coach. Scott Skiles name has been mentioned as a potential replacement, but that is purely speculation at this point.

The Magic are reportedly very close to firing head coach Jacque Vaughn, and it's gotten to the point that it's not if, but when.

Currently, the only reason Vaughn remains the head coach of the Magic is the lack of a natural candidate to promote to interim head coach from a young, inexperienced staff of assistants. While Vaughn has been successful in creating an environment of player development and hard work in the post-Dwight Howard era, the Magic's continued struggles on the defensive end and unimpressive play at home have some calling for his job.

Magic management is "not happy at all" with coach Jacque Vaughn and the group "won't settle for this," according to Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel.

The Magic have gone 2-13 in their last 15 games and they were blown out tonight against the Bucks on their home court. Vaughn's rotations have been a little inconsistent and he's had some trouble filling the minutes at the three and four, which has been exaggerated by the injury to Tobias Harris this month. If he is let loose, fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on Kyle O'Quinn in standard leagues and Aaron Gordon in points leagues.

Coach Jacque Vaughn hinted on Friday that the Magic could run a faster tempo next season.

"I think you will see us have the ability to fly around the court. We’re going to be able to be aggressive, on D and create havoc," Vaughn said. The Magic ranked 16th in pace last season and 29th in offensive efficiency, which led to them ranking 29th in points per game. The Magic have the personnel to run a bit faster, so it could lead to better fantasy output all around.

The Magic have exercised their fourth-year options on coach Jacque Vaughn and GM Rob Hennigan for the 2015-16 season.

It ensures neither man will have lame-duck status next season. Vaughn has gone a woeful 43-121 (.262) in two years as Orlando's head coach, but they're committed to the rebuilding process. He's done a reasonable job developing core building blocks Victor Oladipo and Nik Vucevic.

Jacque Vaughn will join the Spurs coaching staff as an assistant this season.

Vaughn formerly played for the Spurs and spent 12 seasons in the league before retiring at the end of the 2009 season.

Jacque Vaughn scored 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting with two rebounds and six assists in 23 minutes on Sunday.

Vaughn split time with rookie George Hill at PG, and will likely be the steadying hand to Hill's inexperience. There's definitely not enough value between them to have it split for fantasy owners' purposes, but if one of them emerges with starter's minutes that could change.

Jacque Vaughn got another start for the Spurs on Wednesday, as Damon Stoudamire continues to come off the bench. The two point guards combined for two points on 1-of-12 shooting, four rebounds and five assists in 36 minutes.

The Spurs must be pretty eager to get Tony Parker (ankle) back, and neither Vaughn nor Stoudamire has fantasy value at the moment.

Jacque Vaughn came off the Spurs bench on Thursday and chipped in 17 points, two assists and three steals.

Vaughn is likely to remain on the bench, even though Tony Parker is out, because of the imminent signing of point guard Damon Stoudamire. Don't look to Vaughn outside of deep leagues.

Jacque Vaughn started in place of injured Tony Parker and had four points, four assists and four rebounds in Tuesday's loss.

There's talk of the Spurs signing Damon Stoudamire, who would likely immediately become a starter for as long as Parker is out with his heel injury.
Wed, Jan 30, 2008 02:02:00 AM

Jacque Vaughn had 14 points and four assists in another start at point guard for injured Tony Parker.

Parker shouldn't be out for too much longer, meaning Vaughn will go back into fantasy oblivion in the near future.

Jacque Vaughn started as the Spurs' point guard on Thursday in place of injured Tony Parker (ankle), and finished the game with seven points on 1-of-7 shooting, four rebounds and three assists in 19 minutes.

Parker is expected to miss one or two more games for the Spurs, so Vaughn could theoretically have some short-term value. Seldom-used backup guard Darius Washington also got some burn, finishing with three points in 11 minutes. Judging by the numbers they put up in this game, we can't recommend that you pick up either of these guys.
