Vince Carter concluded his 20th NBA season on Wednesday with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting, two 3-pointers, three rebounds and one assist in 25 minutes.
Earlier this week, Carter reiterated that he hopes to extend his auspicious NBA career. "I plan on coming back next season," he said. "I’m almost 90 percent sure that’s it after next season ... maybe two more years ... Is Sacramento a possibility? Or how am I looking at free agency? I don’t know. I stay in my lane." For what it's worth, Carter has also spoken about ending his career in Toronto. Apr 12 - 1:03 AM

Date:

De'Aaron Fox, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Justin Jackson, Vince Carter and Willie-Cauley Stein will be in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Suns.

Carter will be replacing Skal Labissiere in the starting five, and knowing the Kings, Labissiere might not play at all tonight. The rotation is a mess in Sacramento, and it's tough to trust anyone other than Bogdanovic.

Vince Carter played in his 1,400th NBA game on Saturday against Golden State, the 10th player in league history to accomplish the feat.

It will be a memorable game, but for all the wrong reasons. Carter inadvertently undercut Patrick McCaw under the basket in the second half and the Warriors player was taken off on a stretcher and later to the hospital for further tests. Carter received an earful from Golden State coach Steve Kerr, and he was visibly distraught after the ugly incident. Kevin Durant later consoled Vinsanity, and Kerr also had some kinder words for him later. Carter ended up with four points, five rebounds an an assist in 15 minutes off the bench.
Apr 1 - 1:51 AM

Vince Carter had five points, three rebounds and one 3-pointer in 22 minutes off the Kings' bench on Sunday.

Garrett Temple (ankle) and Zach Randolph (illness) were both out tonight, but Sacramento still leaned on a pair of veterans with VC and Kosta Koufos (eight points, nine boards) both logging 20+ minutes off the bench. Carter has played in three consecutive games and could be part of the rotation rest-of-season, even if he's rested during a back-to-back set on Mar. 31-Apr. 1. He's not helping fantasy owners, but it's still nice to see Carter earning minutes at age 41.
Mar 25 - 10:09 PM

Vince Carter will be available on Monday vs. the Pistons.

He was away from the team due to a death in his family. He was averaging 6.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 triples in March before leaving the team, so there's not much fantasy appeal here.
Mar 19 - 1:46 PM

Vince Carter hinted that he'll move on from the Kings as a free agent this summer.

"I’m not going to sit here and deny that I want to play more," Carter said. "Things changed. We aren’t winning and the younger guys need to get better. I get that, but at the same time, I try to make the best of it. That way if it doesn’t work out here, I can still play on another team, maybe a contending team, in a lesser role." Carter will be 42 in what is expected to be his final NBA campaign in 2018-19.
Mar 18 - 9:56 AM

Vince Carter (personal) will not suit up for Saturday's game against the Jazz.

He's away from the team due to a death in his family, so he could miss Monday's game against the Pistons as well. Buddy Hield and Justin Jackson should pick up some extra minutes while Carter is out.
Mar 17 - 7:32 PM

Vince Carter scored nine points, all on 3-pointers, in 24 minutes off the bench Sunday against New York.

Carter also chipped in four rebounds with just one turnover. Due to the Kings' full-on youth movement, though, he's unlikely to see this much playing time on a regular basis down the stretch. Sacramento is respecting the 41-year-old veteran by letting him show what he can do, while also trying to balance using their younger players more while in tank mode. It's a tricky dance.
Mar 5 - 12:51 AM

Vince Carter is expected to spend the rest of the season in Sacramento, as the Kings reportedly prefer not to buy him out.

There were rumors in Toronto that Carter and the Raptors might reunite if VC was bought out and became a free agent this month. However, it appears the Kings want to hold onto their vet. Yet, it sounds like there is an outside chance that the 41-year old Carter finishes his career where it began by signing a one year deal with the Raps over the summer.
Feb 17 - 1:04 PM

Vince Carter returned to action on Sunday with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting, five 3-pointers, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 27 minutes.

Carter may be 41 years old, but he's still half-amazing. He'll be subject to frequent DNPs the rest of the season, of course, and is only worth deploying in very deep leagues.
Jan 28 - 10:49 PM

Vince Carter did not play against the Heat on Thursday.

He did play in the previous three games, but it was his turn, apparently. Carter is basically just an extension of the coaching staff and will see plenty of DNPs the rest of the season.
Jan 25 - 10:14 PM

Vince Carter scored six points with three rebounds, one assist, two blocks and two 3-pointers in 19 minutes against the Hornets on Monday.

Both of his field goals came in the first minute to start each half and that was all she wrote. Carter is probably going to be a DNP-CD the next time out.
Jan 22 - 9:28 PM

Vince Carter will be in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Hornets, sending Justin Jackson back to the bench.

In Carter's previous start this season, he posted four points, two assists, one rebound, one steal, three blocks and one turnover in 25 minutes, but we wouldn't expect him to replicate the production in the defensive categories tonight. Jackson's minutes will take a hit with the demotion to the second unit, so he can't be trusted in fantasy hoops.
Jan 22 - 6:32 PM

Vince Carter picked up a DNP-CD on Monday vs. the Thunder.

Coach Dave Joerger said that he will be resting two veterans in every game going forward, so Carter is looking at a lot more DNPs in the second half of the season. Expect more minutes for guys like Buddy Hield and Bogdan Bogdanovic at Carter's expense.
Jan 15 - 11:00 PM

Vince Carter finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot in 31 minutes off the bench Saturday against the Nuggets.

The 40-year-old continues to be an important part of Dave Joerger's rotation, as he finds time to use the ageless veteran at the expense of some of his younger players. However, nagging injuries and erratic playing time, as well as the fact he is 40, makes Vinsanity a rather inconsistent fantasy option. He is only worth using in deeper leagues.
