Vince Carter (hip) will not play against the Blazers on Thursday night.
He was listed as questionable on the injury report on Wednesday, but Carter will miss his sixth straight game. Since he's been out, it's been Troy Williams, Troy Daniels and Tony Allen picking up most of the wing minutes. Daniels will have the greatest upside with his red-hot scoring numbers. The Grizzlies aren't on a back-to-back, so Allen could get decent run tonight. Dec 8 - 3:15 PM

Date:

Vince Carter (hip) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Blazers.

He's been ruled out the day before each of the last three games, so this is a step in the right direction. The Grizzlies have won each of their last four without Carter with guys like Troy Williams and Troy Daniels stepping up. If Carter does return, that may take some minutes from the Troys and maybe from Tony Allen, as well. Carter is not worth owning in most leagues.
Dec 7 - 5:02 PM

Vince Carter (hip) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the 76ers.

Tuesday will mark Carter's fifth straight game on the sidelines, which will likely result in Troy Daniels and Tony Allen getting all the minutes they can handle, and perhaps Toney Douglas can get into the game for longer than the eight minutes he played Monday night. For now, we'll be considering Carter questionable for Thursday's game against the Trail Blazers.

Vince Carter (hip) will not play on Monday vs. the Pelicans.

This will be his fourth game in a row on the shelf. The Grizzlies will only have nine players available Monday, so Troy Williams and Troy Daniels will both see heavy minutes on the wings. Daniels may be the better dart throw in DFS after erupting for 31 points against the Lakers in his last outing.
Dec 5 - 9:15 AM

Vince Carter (hip) is out for Saturday against the Lakers.

This will be his third game out of the lineup due to his right hip flexor injury. The Grizzlies have played more Tony Allen while Troy Daniels and Troy Williams have both stepped up lately. Daniels and Williams have similar short-term value with Daniels being more about scoring and Williams doing a little of everything. Allen should be a steals specialist.
Dec 2 - 3:07 PM

Vince Carter (right hip) has been ruled out for Thursday night against the Magic.

It'll be his second game out due to a hip flexor injury. The Grizzlies look like they'll be rolling with the Nasty Nine with Troy Williams leading the charge for the small forwards. Tony Allen's playing time may decrease on the second night of a back-to-back set, which suggest there could be more minutes for Troy Daniels and Wade Baldwin IV. Carter can stay on the wire while Williams has some short-term value in standard leagues.
Dec 1 - 2:40 PM

Vince Carter (right hip) is doubtful for Thursday's game against Orlando.

Carter is still dealing with a right hip flexor and looks unlikely to suit up for Thursday's game against the Magic. Tony Allen looks to be the biggest beneficiary of Carter's likely absence, while Troy Williams and Troy Daniels should see a minutes boost as well if Carter sits again.

Dec 1 - 12:03 PM

Vince Carter (right hip) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Raptors.

The Grizzlies will be extremely thin on the wings with Carter, Chandler Parsons (knee) and James Ennis (calf) all unavailable, so guys like Tony Allen, Troy Daniels and Troy Williams could be forced into heavy minutes tonight. Allen is someone to consider as a streamer in deep leagues, and Williams is on the radar as a potential DFS punt play. For now, we'll consider Carter questionable for Thursday's game against the Magic.
Nov 30 - 12:11 PM

Vince Carter (right hip flexor strain) is questionable to play Wednesday vs. the Raptors.

Carter suffered the injury during Monday's loss to Charlotte, and the only positive here is that he is traveling with the team. The Grizzlies just can't catch a break right now, and if Carter is forced to the sidelines on Wednesday night, that would leave Troy Daniels, Tony Allen and Troy Williams as the only healthy wings in Memphis. Check back for another update following Wednesday morning's shootaround.

Nov 29 - 5:44 PM

Vince Carter stayed hot in a 102-96 win over the Jazz on Monday, scoring 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting.

He played 31 minutes off the bench and added seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and three treys, connecting on 5-of-6 from the line. This comes on the heels of a 20-point performance on Nov. 8 and a 17-point effort on Nov. 12, so he's making the most of his opportunity with Tony Allen (groin) out. VC has seen 31 or more minutes in three straight games and is a streaming consideration while he's hot. He's 39 years old.
Nov 15 - 12:05 AM

Vince Carter scored 17 points with one rebound, two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 34 minutes against the Bucks on Saturday.

He's 39 and he still threw down a dunk tonight. Carter had the hot hand while the starters couldn't get it going, but don't expect many lines like this one.
Nov 13 - 1:43 AM

Vince Carter went off for 20 points, five assists, three rebounds, two blocks and three triples in 31 minutes vs. the Nuggets on Tuesday.

He's 39 years old and was averaging 6.7 points per game prior to Tuesday, but picked up the slack with Tony Allen (groin) out. He's going to feel every one of those minutes in practice this week, but luckily the Grizzlies are off until Saturday. Carter is not a pickup in most leagues.
Nov 8 - 11:37 PM

Vince Carter caught fire from downtown on Sunday, hitting 5-of-6 threes to finish with 18 points, two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 32 minutes.

The 39-year-old may not be half-amazing at this point in his career, but he still has his moments. Tony Allen (knee) is expected to return soon, absorbing even more minutes on the wings, and there's no reason to expect a repeat performance from Carter vs. the Wolves on Tuesday.
Oct 30 - 11:51 PM

Vince Carter scored three points with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and no turnovers in 28 minutes against the Wolves on Wednesday.

Coach David Fizdale said he'd use Carter as a stretch four and he did so tonight against one of the bigger frontline in the NBA. Carter should play a few extra minutes while Tony Allen (knee) is out, but he's not a great fantasy target.
Oct 27 - 2:42 AM

Vince Carter (left knee) will not play on Wednesday night.

The Grizzlies continue to push the pace with Carter logging minutes at three positions. Carter will miss his second game, but this knee injury isn't serious.
