Carter can get hot in a hurry and after a line like this he'll be a hard guy to pass up if he's available on your league's waiver wire. Dirk Nowitzki added 22 points, 10 boards and four assists in the win.

He's been consistent for his past five, scoring between 14 and 19 in each of those games. Carter has made 1.4 triples and had 1.8 steals in that span, which suggests he deserves to be owned in standard leagues.

As long as Shawn Marion (calf) is out then owners should be willing to put up with off nights like this, as a big night is usually right around the corner. That said, if he does this again then maybe we'll change our tune.

The Mavericks were down one point on their final possession and Carter missed an out-of-rhythm triple with just a few seconds left in the game. On the other hand, Carter has been effective from beyond the arc and made 15 triples in his previous five games on 62.5 percent from deep. He's worth owning in standard leagues especially with Shawn Marion expected to miss more time.

Vince Carter got hot in the fourth quarter in Tuesday's win over the Bucks, finishing with 23 points, three boards, three assists and four 3-pointers in just 22 minutes.

He scored 13 points in the last 5:31 of the game and the Bucks couldn't stop Vinsanity tonight. He is a bit streaky, but considering how he can fill it up from downtown, Carter is worth owning in standard leagues.

Carter also didn't turn the ball over in 25 minutes of action, and his resurgence this season has been terrific to watch after years of slowly declining play in New Jersey and Phoenix. Unfortunately for Dallas, even their three-game winning streak leaves them 3.0 games outside of the playoff picture.

Carter went ice cold this week after spending last week on fire, and maybe he's ready to get it going again. He's well worth a look with the hopes that he can.

Vince Carter, who missed all eight shots and had just two points on Tuesday, wasn't much better on Wednesday when he hit 3-of-8 shots for six points, three assists, zero steals and zero 3-pointers in a loss to the Grizzlies.

Carter was on fire a couple days ago, and owners simply have to hope this is a mini-slump that will be over in the near future. But there is a legitimate concern that he could run out of gas prior to the end of the season, as his legs have a ton of miles on them.

He's been red hot before this dud with averages over his previous five games of 18.0 points 4.6 boards, 1.4 steals and a whopping 4.0 triples in 25.8 minutes. He was bound to have a bad game, so his owners shouldn't make any hasty decisions based on this game alone.

Carter has been doing a little bit of everything lately, and he's playing well enough to be owned in all leagues. Just keep in mind that he is prone to inconsistency in a sometimes limited role off the bench.

Vince Carter handed out a season-high eight assists to go with 14 points, three rebounds, one steal and four 3-pointers against the Magic on Wednesday.

Vince is on fire and he's made 2.9 triples per game in his last 12 games. He's not playing a ton of minutes with just 24.0 per game in his last five, but he certainly has value as a 3-point specialist in standard leagues.

Vince Carter caught fire and hit 9-of-15 shots and a season-high six 3-pointers for 26 points, five rebounds and two steals in just 23 minutes Wednesday, passing Larry Bird for 29th on the all-time scoring list with 21,796 points.

This was Carter's highest scoring game since Jan. 18 and he's averaging 13.5 points and 2.5 3-pointers in his five February games, despite tonight's explosion. Hopefully he can stay this hot after the All-Star break.

Vince Carter says he's been assured by coach Rick Carlisle that he won't be traded by the Feb. 21 deadline.

Carter is in the midst of a career renaissance and with the Mavs struggling to compete for a playoff spot surely would have been attractive to a contender looking to bolster its bench. However, the Mavs have no reason to trade him at this point. More realistically, Carter will be dealt either over the summer for cap space or at next year's deadline when he'll have an affordable expiring contract. For now, owners should enjoy his recent surge and hope he continues to see useful minutes as the Mavs' sixth man.
