Vince Carter has agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal with the Kings.
The Kings continue to add players from winning organizations with VC joining Zach Randolph and George Hill. Carter has said he's looking to play 1-2 more years, so it's possible this is his last season. The good news for the Kings is that they only have Carter on a one-year deal, which isn't the case for Hill and Z-Bo. Carter likely won't be asked to do much in his season with the Kings. Vince Carter's meeting with Sacramento reportedly "went well."

This is the obligatory "went well" report for Carter, who is reportedly considering offers from three other NBA clubs. Despite almost being 41 years old, Carter remains capable of offering help to an NBA squad's second unit, although his fantasy value will be non-existent regardless of the name across the front of his jersey.
Jul 5 - 12:12 PM

Free agent Vince Carter is scheduled to meet with the Kings on Monday, according to ESPN's Chris Haynes.

Carter will turn 41 years old in January but he's coming off an age-defying season as a key part of the Grizzlies' bench unit -- he averaged 8.0 points, 1.5 triples, 3.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.5 blocks, while missing only nine games. Buoyed by solid 3-point range and enduring athleticism, Carter somewhat plausibly hopes to play another two years in the NBA.
Jul 2 - 7:58 PM

Vince Carter said he's planning on playing for two more years.

The 40-year-old veteran is set to become a free agent this summer and is hopeful to re-sign with the Grizzlies. He still has some gas left in the tank and averaged 8.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.5 triples in 73 games, and he played nearly 25 minutes per game with Chandler Parsons (knee) on the shelf for most of the season. If he comes back, he won't be worth drafting in standard fantasy leagues.

Vince Carter said he wants to keep playing and staying in Memphis is up to the Grizzlies.

"It's a pleasure coming to work here with the fans, atmosphere," Carter said. He's a free agent and is 40 years old, but he did show he can still play with 12 points in 32 minutes during Game 6. If Chandler Parsons (knee) can stay on the court, Carter likely wouldn't play too much in Memphis.
Apr 28 - 2:26 PM

Vince Carter scored 12 points in 32 minutes against the Spurs on Thursday, adding four rebounds, one assist, one steal and two 3-pointers.

He had the unenviable task of guarding Kawhi Leonard for some key minutes and had a big steal against him. Carter is 40 years old, but he showed he still has plenty left in the tank. Carter is a first-ballot Hall of Fame player as one of the league's best players over the last two decades.
Apr 28 - 12:33 AM

Vince Carter looked to have banged knees late in Saturday's game against the Spurs.

He hobbled off the court and hopefully he'll be able to recover for Tuesday. If not, there will be more minutes going to James Ennis, Andrew Harrison and Troy Daniels.
Apr 22 - 11:48 PM

Vince Carter finished with six points across 22 minutes in Sunday's 103-90 loss against the Pistons.

Carter was playing in his 1,346th NBA game, tying Kobe Bryant for 13th on the NBA's career regular season games played list. The 40-year-old is averaging 9.0 points per game over his past four outings, and he has hit at least two 3-pointers in each of the games. While Carter is no longer someone to lean upon regularly in fantasy, he still serves a purpose in deeper rotisserie formats.
Apr 9 - 10:29 PM

Vince Carter (rest) returned from a one-game absence on Tuesday vs. the Spurs, scoring eight points with two rebounds, two assists and two 3-pointers in 27 minutes.

Carter could easily be rested on Wednesday vs. the Thunder, but his status could hinge on the availability of Tony Allen (eye). Carter is a low-end asset anyways and there should be several better options on your waiver wire.
Apr 5 - 1:20 AM

Vince Carter (rest) will not play against the Lakers on Sunday.

This news was coming from a mile away with VC playing big minutes lately and the Grizzlies clinching the postseason on Friday. With Carter out, Troy Daniels, James Ennis and Tony Allen figure to pick up some added run. If Andrew Harrison is OK, he may be in the mix, too.
Apr 1 - 8:16 PM

Vince Carter scored 21 points with eight rebounds on Wednesday, hitting 5-of-8 field goals and 7-of-7 free throws with four 3-pointers in 33 minutes of action.

In the process, Carter passed Ray Allen for 22nd in NBA history for career points -- next up is Patrick Ewing, who is 304 points ahead of the ageless VC. Chandler Parsons' season-ending knee surgery has vaulted Carter into a critical role for the playoff-hungry Grizzlies -- they're currently holding the No. 7 seed, which would likely mean a first-round matchup vs. the Spurs.
Mar 30 - 12:37 AM

Vince Carter scored 10 points with four rebounds, three assists, two steals and two triples in 30 minutes vs. the Spurs on Saturday.

He also hit a pair of free throws and seven of his shot attempts came from beyond the arc. Since moving into the starting lineup on Mar. 13, VC is averaging 11.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.3 triples, but keep in mind that those averages include his fluky 24-point game with six triples vs. the Bucks. He's a low-end streaming option and the Grizzlies only play three times next week.
Mar 19 - 12:45 AM

Vince Carter hit 1-of-2 shots for three points, one steal and two blocks in 29 minutes in Thursday's win over the Hawks.

His perfect game last Monday, when he had 24 points and six 3-pointers without missing a shot, has already been forgotten, as he's averaging 5.0 points and 0.5 3-pointers in his two games since then. If you picked him up after Monday's explosion, you should probably throw him back on the waiver wire and try someone else.
Mar 16 - 10:43 PM

Vince Carter scored seven points with three rebounds, two assists, one block and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes against the Bulls on Wednesday.

Coach David Fizdale did say he was going to be aware of Carter's minutes, so he should be looking at minutes in the upper 20s going forward. Carter could have some value in favorable matches, but it's never easy to count on a 40-year-old player in fantasy. He's more of a deep-league guy.
Mar 15 - 11:54 PM

Coach David Fizdale said he won't wear out Vince Carter with heavy minutes.

The Grizzlies are starting Carter, Mike Conley, Tony Allen, JaMychal Green and Marc Gasol again on Wednesday. VC was out of this world for a 40-year-old with his 24 points on perfect shooting in 30 minutes. Carter has played 23.7 minutes per game, so getting him to the upper 20s may not be too much to ask. He could wind up scoring in the teens most nights, but he's still a volatile fantasy property.
