Nazr Mohammed has re-signed with the Bulls.
Mohammed will play in a reserve role in a crowded Chicago frontcourt. He averaged just 1.6 points, and 2.2 rebounds through seven minutes of action with the Bulls last season, and he can safely be ignored in all formats. Mon, Sep 22, 2014 03:29:00 PM

The Heat, looking to add another veteran center to their roster, summoned unrestricted free agent Nazr Mohammed for a workout and meeting with team executives on Thursday.

The Heat are reportedly most intrigued by unrestricted free agent Emeka Okafor, but he may not be ready to suit up until midseason as he's still recovering from a herniated disk in his back. The Miami organization has also expressed interest in unrestricted free agent Andray Blatche. Mohammed is the least enticing of the three.

Nazr Mohammed played six minutes against the Magic on Wednesday.

He had a sprained middle finger on Monday and he didn't look to be bothered by the injury. Mohammed has no value in fantasy leagues at age 36.

Nazr Mohammed suffered a sprained middle finger on Monday and is questionable to return.

He was in a little bit of pain and we'll be on the lookout for any information. Mohammed has very little fantasy value.

The Bulls and Nazr Mohammed have verbally agreed to a one-year contract at the veteran's minimum, according to CSN's Aggrey Sam.

The deal doesn't exactly shake up the FA market, but it's a solidifying move for the Bulls' frontcourt. Nazr even wound up starting 12 games for Chicago last season while Joakim Noah was hurt, averaging 7.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game. He isn't likely to approach those numbers in a 10-15 minute role this season.

Tom Thibodeau said he'd like to have Nazr Mohammed return next season.

"Hopefully we’ll have an opportunity with him, but again, you don’t know what the market will call for," Thibodeau said. It would be surprising if Mohammed got an offer above the veteran's minimum, so if the Bulls want him back, it shouldn't be hard to work out a new deal.

Nazr Mohammed said he isn't expecting further punishment from the league office after being ejected Friday night.

Mohammed was tossed after shoving LeBron James to a ground, a move that drew heated reactions from Mohammed's teammates. Nate Robinson called LeBron a good actor and coach Tom Thibodeau hinted there's a conspiracy to give the Heat favorable calls in the series. Regardless of whether LeBron flopped, there were no punches thrown and it was a fairly brief incident, so we're not expecting Mohammed to face further sanctions either.

Nazr Mohammed was ejected from Friday's game for shoving LeBron James after the whistle.

Mohammed committed a hard foul on James, then after LeBron took him down and received a technical foul, Mohammed shoved LeBron to the ground. Mohammed played just 11.5 minutes per game in the first two games of the series, so this isn't a big loss for the Bulls.

Nazr Mohammed will start for the Bulls on Wednesday and Marco Belinelli will come off the bench.

It's a late move, but moving Nazr into the starting lineup makes some sense since the Bulls are going to play their starters limited minutes. They will start Kirk Hinrich, Jimmy Butler, Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer along side Mohammed.

Nazr Mohammed double-doubled vs. the Raptors on Friday with 16 points and 13 boards, adding one steal and one block in 43 minutes.

He didn't play a minute on Thursday, so it was a mild surprise to see him log this many tonight. Taj Gibson is expected to be back in the next two games, so owners shouldn't think about grabbing Nazr unless they're in desperation mode.

Nazr Mohammed started in place of injured Joakim Noah (foot) and had six points, 10 rebounds and a block in Tuesday's loss.

Noah's regular season might be over and Mohammed could be a decent pickup if you need boards and blocks. He had 11 boards and three blocks on Saturday, and could help owners in need of big-man stats, especially if Noah continues to sit.

Nazr Mohammed blocked three shots with 11 rebounds in Friday's win over the Magic.

Mohammed has been rebounding and blocking shots while Joakim Noah has been out, so give him a look if you're deficient in those areas.

Nazr Mohammed played 37 minutes against the Nets on Thursday, blocking three shots to go with four points, nine rebounds and one assist.

The Bulls are the thinnest team up front in the NBA with Taj Gibson (knee) and Joakim Noah (foot) both dealing with injuries. Mohammed played 36 minutes on Tuesday and coach Tom Thibodeau has no choice but to play him extended minutes. He's a capable shot blocker and could be a short-term fix for owners that need a big man.

Naz Mohammed had season highs with 12 points, 12 boards and 36 minutes during Tuesday's 90-86 loss to the Wizards, adding one block on 5-of-12 shooting.

The excessive minutes were out of pure necessity and the Bulls could be without Taj Gibson for a handful of games. The 35-year-old Mohammed isn't likely going to be able to sustain a 36-minute workload and the Bulls may sign someone on a 10-day contract to help him, but he looks like a decent option for deep leagues right now. The Bulls play Thursday on a three-game night.

Nazr Mohammed made a rare start with Joakim Noah (foot) out on Saturday, scoring 11 points with seven rebounds, three assists and one block vs. the Pacers.

Indiana made a conscious effort to feed Roy Hibbert on the post, but the Bulls' veteran center held up defensively and Hibbert finished with 18 points on 8-of-18 shooting. Noah may need a few more games off, given the chronic nature of his injury and the Bulls' need to have him healthy for the playoffs, but Mohammed's game is too limited to expect reliable value in average leagues.
