Rashard Lewis was coming off an 18-point game but couldn't keep it going on Sunday, as he scored just two points in 12 minutes as Miami's starting PF.
Lewis committed four fouls and didn't grab any rebounds during his time on the court, a vivid reminder that the veteran shouldn't be relied upon in fantasy leagues. He'll shift back to the bench as soon as Shane Battier returns from his quad injury. Jan 5 - 9:14 PM

Rashard Lewis hit 6-of-11 shots and three 3-pointers for 18 points, four rebounds, two assists, three steals and a block in a start for the Heat on Saturday.

Shane Battier was out with a quad injury which allowed Lewis to start (and turn back the clock) tonight. There was a time when this line would be considered an off night for the former star, but it was all good for Lewis tonight. His previous season high was 11 points back on Nov. 15, and this is the most points he's scored in a game since April 15 of last season, when LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh were resting and Lewis was working garbage starter's minutes as the Heat prepped for the playoffs. In other words, don't get too excited about this one.

Rashard Lewis went scoreless in six minutes off the bench during Sunday's comeback victory.

This was Rashard's worst game since joining the rotation, as Chris Bosh (22 points) was playing well and Michael Beasley (seven rebounds) continues to earn reserve frontcourt minutes. Fellow veteran Udonis Haslem has also fallen out of the picture, picking up his fourth DNP in five games. Lewis' decline shouldn't have an impact outside of the deepest leagues.

Rashard Lewis (personal) was with the team for Sunday's practice.

Lewis was day-to-day for an unspecified reason, but he's back and ready to go for the season opener. He said he feels better than he has in years, and should carve out a small bench role after shooting 38.9 percent from downtown last season.

Rashard Lewis (personal) is not with the team.

There's no reason given for his absence, but hopefully everything is OK. Lewis could miss Wednesday's preseason game and possibly more. He's unlikely to be involved much in the offense while the team is at 100 percent.

Rashard Lewis is feeling better than he has in a few years and hopes to crack the Heat's rotation this season.

Lewis has dealt with chronic arthritis in both knees, but threw down a monster dunk in practice recently, something he hasn't done in about two years. "He looks healthy, he’s running and it has shown in his ability to shoot the ball and around the rim," LeBron James said. Lewis is now 33 years old and will have to compete with James Jones, Roger Mason and others for playing time, and it appears there's a decent chance he at least contributes this season. But we still wouldn't think about drafting him in fantasy.

Heat writer Ira Winderman expects James Jones and Rashard Lewis to remain on Miami's 15-man roster this season.

The decision to amnesty Mike Miller gave Miami some roster flexibility, and they can clear another spot by waiving Jarvis Varnado (and his unguaranteed deal) before opening night. James and Lewis may cling to the roster and play spot minutes as perimeter specialists throughout the season, but they won't have fantasy relevance.

Rashard Lewis will exercise his $1.4 million player option for the 2013-14 season.

If the cap-strapped Heat buy out Mike Miller, Lewis could actually have a bit role as a sharpshooter off the bench next season. He played in just 11 of the Heat's 21 playoff games, averaging 4.2 minutes a night.

Rashard Lewis is leaning toward exercising his option for next season.

Lewis has a player's option for just about $1.4 million for the 2013-14 season and recently refuted a report that claimed he was planning to opt out of the deal and test free agency. We found it hard to believe Lewis would choose to leave the Heat and a guaranteed payday and it at least sounds like he'll have another season in Miami before he has to decide his future.

Rashard Lewis refuted a report that he'd opt in with the Heat next season.

Lewis said "I don't plan on opting out at all" previously, so he's really just changing his mind. "I haven't agreed to anything," he said. "I have no idea. I haven't even talked to my agent." We can't imagine a better scenario for Lewis as he's nearing the end of his career, but if he wants to leave the Heat, that's his prerogative.

Rashard Lewis does not plan to opt out of his contract with the Heat after the season.

"I'm with the Miami Heat. I don't plan on opting out at all," he said. And why would he? Lewis can ride the end of the bench and be in the title hunt during his time with the team, so we fully expect him to stay true to his word.

Rashard Lewis scored 19 points on 5-of-13 shooting (including three treys) with three rebounds, one steal and one block in a start at small forward on Monday.

Lewis and Mike Miller (11 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three treys) are owners' safer bets for value during the Heat's finale, though Norris Cole certainly added his name to the list with tonight's near triple-double. If you want to dig a bit deeper, you can look at James Jones (14 points, four rebounds, three assists, two blocks, two threes) and Chris Andersen (seven points, three boards, two blocks).

Rashard Lewis scored 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting (including three treys) with one rebound and one assist in 24 minutes off the bench on Friday against the Celtics.

Lewis did well to score this much with the Big Three on the court, and he's certainly worth a look knowing that they will probably miss a few more games. Ray Allen added 17 points with three triples in the Heat's win.

Rashard Lewis started for the depleted Heat on Wednesday and hit 5-of-14 shots on his way to a season-high 17 points, five rebounds and three 3-pointers in 37 minutes.

He's scored between 14 and 17 points in three of his last four games, and looks like a decent silly-season pickup at this point, as the Heat clinched home court all the way through the playoffs with tonight's win over the Wizards.

The Heat got an unexpected boost from Rashard Lewis on Saturday, as he scored 14 points with two 3-pointers, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal vs. the Sixers.

Shard dropped 14 points and two 3s in Miami's last game, but it's hard to trust him with LeBron active and both Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade listed as day-to-day. Owners in standard leagues should be able to find a more trustworthy option.
