Former NBA sharpshooter Damon Jones has officially retired.
Jones left the NBA after the 2008-09 season, playing in Italy and Puerto Rico before landing in the D-League last season, where he entertained the idea of a comeback. He now hopes to transition into "coaching, management, or whatever the situation may be," and he was given a leg up by Celtics assistant Tyronn Lue, who agreed to let him work with the Celts' Summer League team. Former NBA guard Damon Jones was the high scorer during Josh Howard's charity game on Saturday, pouring in 54 points on ridiculous 18-of-25 shooting from downtown.

Kevin Durant finished with 24 points and 22 assists, while Nick Young scored 32 points and had a few crowd-pleasing dunks (follow the link). Young wore a Jumpman logo on his jersey despite vowing to boycott Michael Jordan's brand in light of MJ's role in CBA talks.

In a recent interview, Damon Jones shared that he is hoping to make a return to the NBA in the upcoming season.

Jones has been playing for international teams in Italy and Puerto Rico this season. He has been a deadly 3-point threat in the past but his stats have declined steadily since his 2004-2005 season with Miami. Jones also has the distinction of playing with ten different teams in an eleven year period, including two stints with Milwaukee.

After rarely playing for the Bucks last season, Damon Jones has signed a one-year deal with Napoli in Italy's top division.

He hasn't been relevant in a few seasons now, so you won't even know he's gone.

Damon Jones, who was traded to the Bucks over the summer, is finally ready to join the team and will be eligible to play on Saturday in Detroit.

With Luke Ridnour locked in as the starting point guard and Ramon Sessions backing him up, it's hard to see Jones (6.7 ppg last year) providing much value.

Damon Jones will not play for the Bucks this season afterall.

He was traded to the team over the summer, but a mutual decision will allow Jones to work out on his own and try to catch on with a different NBA team. Jones probably overvalues himself, but really hasn't done much in three years.

The Bucks acquired guard Damon Jones from the Cavaliers on Wednesday.

Jones, a relentless self-promoter, probably still considers himself the greatest pure shooter in the world. His sub-41% career field goal percentage is a strong case against that boast, but in fairness the vast majority of his shots are three-pointers (career 39% 3PT). As fantasy owners know well enough, he’s a three-point specialist and nothing more.

Little used Cleveland guard Damon Jones reportedly made some very disparaging remarks about the Wizards and DeShawn Stevenson at a night club where the DJ played a new song by Jay-Z, which was also critical of Stevenson and the Cavs.

Ironically, this all went down at a club in D.C. and Caron Butler was reportedly there when it happened. "I'm not worried about the song," Stevenson said. "But for Damon Jones to get on the mic, and I heard he was saying foul stuff about me and stuff like that. They're taking it beyond basketball to me." We can't make this stuff up, and we're guessing Jones decided he had to do something to get into the news.

An MRI test has revealed that Damon Jones has tendonitis in both knees.

He skipped practice on Thursday, but he's expected to be on the active roster tonight. Jones is good for some threes but nothing else.

Damon Jones hit four more 3-pointers in Wednesday's loss to the Nets.

If you own Kareem Rush or Sasha Pavlovic and Jones is available, you have to give him consideration, as he's drained a three in 11 straight games.

Damon Jones hit 5-of-8 shots, all 3-pointers, for 15 points in Wednesday's win over the Knicks.

Jones has hit a three in eight straight games, compiling 24 of them over that stretch. Feel free to grab him if you need the 3-pointers.

Damon Jones hit 4-of-5 shots and all four of his 3-point attempts on his way to 12 points and five assists off the bench in Tuesday's loss.

He's hit 15 threes in his last four games and should be a nice source of threes in a deep league. The problem is he won't do much else, although tonight's assists were nice to see.

Damon Jones hit 10-of-16 shots and seven threes for a season-high 27 points in Friday's tough win over the Wizards.

After Thursday's big trade, the Cavs dressed just eight players, two of which were called up from the D-League today, giving Jones the start. If anything else, he proved he can still shoot it. With Sasha Pavlovic and Daniel Gibson out, look for Jones to see some decent minutes at shooting guard, along with newly acquired Wally Szczerbiak.

Damon Jones left Sunday’s game after spraining his ankle in the fourth quarter. He said the injury isn't serious and he expects to be able to play on Monday.

Jones has never had to miss a game to injury in his 10-year career. And by his own estimation he is the greatest shooter of all time. Unfortunately, for fantasy purposes he’s best left alone.

Damon Jones hit two threes and scored eight points in 28 minutes on Wednesday.

He's still not doing much, but his minutes have been steadily increasing. His last three games have seen him log 18, 23 and 28 minutes. If he continues to get 20-plus mpg, he could become a valuable source of threes at some point. Notice, we said "could."
