The Hawks officially signed Elton Brand to a one-year, $2 million contract on Tuesday.

Brand gives Atlanta 15 guaranteed contracts, joining a frontcourt that features Al Horford, Pero Antic, Paul Millsap, Mike Scott, Mike Muscala and Adreian Payne. EB started 15 games at center last year following injuries to Horford and Antic, but the 15-year veteran isn't likely to help fantasy owners in a backup role this season.

Atlanta has re-signed Elton Brand to a one-year, $2M deal for the 2014-2015 season.

Brand was unsure of whether to retire, or come back for his 16th NBA season. The two sides worked out a deal and now it appears Brand will spend the final year of his career with the Hawks. He posted averages of 5.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks last year in Atlanta. At his advanced age he should not be on fantasy radars.

The Hawks are reportedly in talks to bring back unrestricted free agent Elton Brand.

Brand is a solid locker room guy, but his days of being a fantasy stat stuffer are far behind him. Whether Brand plays for a 16th season or not, he shouldn't be targeted in any league.

The Hawks and Knicks have both expressed interest in unrestricted free agent Elton Brand.

Brand confirmed in April that he hopes to return of his 16th NBA season, and it seems he'll get his wish with at least a few teams vying for his services. He averaged 5.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks last season and will fill a niche as a backup big man, but he's no longer an appealing fantasy option at age 35.
Jul 1 - 2:23 PM

Elton Brand said on Monday that he intends to play next season.

"My body feels good," Brand said. "I’m already training for next season." He is 34 years old and is coming off a fairly productive season, playing in 73 games. Brand has struggled to stay healthy for much of his career, but he'll enter free agency and could get some attention on a short-term deal.
Jun 2 - 11:02 AM

Elton Brand said during his exit interview on Monday that he is undecided on whether he will play next season.

Brand, the number one overall pick in 1999, finished his 15th season in the NBA after the Hawks were eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday. He is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and will likely have to sign for the veteran minimum if he wants to continue his career next season.
May 5 - 2:36 PM

Elton Brand kept putting up defensive numbers on Friday, posting two steals and four blocks to go with four points and three boards.

Per usual, Brand did his damage in 22 minutes and regardless of Pero Antic's status he's a solid add if you're targeting big man stats.
Apr 11 - 11:16 PM

Elton Brand drew a start in place of Pero Antic (ankle) vs. the Celtics on Wednesday, scoring 13 points with 13 boards, three assists, three steals and one block in 33 minutes.

Antic's sore ankle has been an issue before and he could be looking at missing more time. Brand's minutes had been fairly low heading into tonight, so he could be somewhat fresh for the stretch run. Nothing in certain since Antic could be back as soon as Friday, but Brand is at least worth a look for owners needing a big man.
Apr 9 - 11:03 PM

Elton Brand did not play on Saturday night vs. the Wizards.

He played 30 minutes on Thursday and the Hawks might have just rested him tonight. Brand is no spring chicken anymore and fantasy owners should look elsewhere now that Pero Antic is back.
Mar 29 - 10:41 PM

Elton Brand double-doubled against the Blazers during Thursday's 100-85 loss with 11 points, 12 boards, two assists, one steal and one block in 30 minutes.

He was banging in the paint and has really done well in establishing position close to the basket. Brand used to be a guy who could beat guys from 15 feet away and he's done a nice job of adapting to his aging frame. With Pero Antic (ankle) out and day-to-day, Brand is worth a look for anyone needing a big man.
Mar 27 - 9:55 PM

Elton Brand scored eight points on 4-of-5 shooting with four rebounds, four assists, one steal and three blocks in just 19 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Jazz.

The Jazz are struggling badly and that partly explains the uptick in production here, but Brand needs to do something like this again to deserve consideration in 12-14 team formats.
Mar 11 - 1:36 AM

Elton Brand came off the bench for 18 minutes and had eight points, five rebounds, two assists and zero blocks in Saturday's loss to the Clippers.

Brand has been pretty fun to own with Pero Antic and Paul Millsap injured for the Hawks, but both players are back and in the starting lineup, meaning Brand's run is over. If they get hurt again, Brand will re-emerge as a fantasy factor, but if not, he's not worth holding.
Mar 9 - 1:37 AM

Elton Brand notched 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks in 31 minutes on Sunday, as the Hawks fell 120-129 in Phoenix.

In the process he tied Elvin Hayes for No. 21 on the all-time blocks list, having swatted 1,771 shots in his career. A fast-paced game like Sunday's doesn't play to Brand's strengths, to say the least, and it's a credit to the veteran that he's been effective in huge minutes as the short-handed Hawks limp to the finish line. EB has been a viable fantasy option for the past few weeks but his value will take a hit with Pero Antic (ankle) on the verge of a return.
Mar 2 - 11:13 PM

Elton Brand played 34 minutes and had 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists, a steal and five blocks in Wednesday's loss to the Celtics.

His minutes have been through the roof and he's been playing well for the struggling Hawks. Paul Millsap, Pero Antic and Gustavo Ayon are eventually going to return and give him a breather, but Brand may have carved out enough minutes to be relevant even when some of those guys are back.
