Elton Brand hinted that he will retire this offseason.
"I could get in shape if I got the call but this looks like the end of the run for me, right now it is family time," said Brand. It sounds like Brand is ready to call it quits after 16 years in the NBA, and he'll finish with career averages of 16.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.7 blocks per game. Aug 11 - 2:45 PM

Elton Brand said that he is still contemplating retirement.

"So far, I haven’t gotten the phone call," Brand said in regards to his NBA future. "We’ll see what happens." Brand doesn't sound very confident that he will play next season, and it's a little concerning that he hasn't received any interest. Brand was barely used by the Hawks last season, and he wouldn't have more than a limited role on any team. We will pass along any additional details when we know more.

Elton Brand said during his exit interview that he will take several weeks before making a decision on whether or not he will return for a 17th season.

"I’ll see if I have another year of trying to get prepared and what it takes to be on an NBA roster," Brand said. "There is a lot of work you have to put in… After two or three weeks, I’ll know. See if I have that itch." Brand will offer veteran leadership to any team's roster, but his days of fantasy relevancy are long behind him.
May 28 - 5:04 PM

Elton Brand said he'd be interested in playing for the New York Knicks if he decides to play another season.

Brand said he almost signed with the Knicks last season before deciding to return to the Hawks, but hope the Knicks will pursue him again this summer. "I got to make a decision if I’m going to play and come back,’’ Brand said. "[The Knicks] are definitely on the radar for sure. Yeah, I’m thinking about it. Moving on to something else, but I still also love to play and still feel good. I’m going to look at both options." We'll keep an eye on Brand's situation once his Hawks are out of the playoffs, but the 36-year-old doesn't offer much for fantasy owners no matter where he plays next season.

Apr 28 - 9:26 AM

Veteran big man Elton Brand had eight points, three rebounds, one steal and one block in a rare start at center on Sunday.

He played 21 minutes with Al Horford getting the day off to rest, but Brand hasn't been a viable option even when Horford is out of the lineup. He considered retiring last summer before inking a one-year deal with the Hawks, so this could be the end of the line for the two-time All-Star.
Apr 12 - 8:48 PM

Elton Brand will start in place of Al Horford against the Kings on Monday.

The Hawks will also start Jeff Teague, Kent Bazemore, DeMarre Carroll and Paul Millsap. Brand may get over 20 minutes tonight an is worth a look in deep leagues.
Mar 16 - 8:50 PM

Elton Brand has returned to the Hawks after dealing with a death in his family.

Brand has racked up DNP-CDs throughout the season, ceding backup PF/C minutes to Pero Antic and Mike Scott. The 16-year veteran is averaging 3.1 points and 3.1 rebounds in 11 appearances this season.
Jan 8 - 1:55 PM

Elton Brand nearly double-doubled on Saturday, finishing with nine points, nine rebounds, three assists and one block in 28 minutes.

He got a lot of extra run in garbage time so don't read too much into this line. Brand will serve as excellent depth for Atlanta this season, but will need an injury to Al Horford or Paul Millsap before he can be considered in standard leagues.

Elton Brand will start at center in place of Al Horford (pectoral) on Monday.

Brand started 15 times last season and played 27.5 minutes per game in those outings, but he only averaged 8.1 points and 4.8 boards. Horford is expected to be ready to start the season.

The Hawks officially signed Elton Brand to a one-year, $2 million contract on Tuesday.

Brand gives Atlanta 15 guaranteed contracts, joining a frontcourt that features Al Horford, Pero Antic, Paul Millsap, Mike Scott, Mike Muscala and Adreian Payne. EB started 15 games at center last year following injuries to Horford and Antic, but the 15-year veteran isn't likely to help fantasy owners in a backup role this season.

Atlanta has re-signed Elton Brand to a one-year, $2M deal for the 2014-2015 season.

Brand was unsure of whether to retire, or come back for his 16th NBA season. The two sides worked out a deal and now it appears Brand will spend the final year of his career with the Hawks. He posted averages of 5.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks last year in Atlanta. At his advanced age he should not be on fantasy radars.

The Hawks are reportedly in talks to bring back unrestricted free agent Elton Brand.

Brand is a solid locker room guy, but his days of being a fantasy stat stuffer are far behind him. Whether Brand plays for a 16th season or not, he shouldn't be targeted in any league.

The Hawks and Knicks have both expressed interest in unrestricted free agent Elton Brand.

Brand confirmed in April that he hopes to return of his 16th NBA season, and it seems he'll get his wish with at least a few teams vying for his services. He averaged 5.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks last season and will fill a niche as a backup big man, but he's no longer an appealing fantasy option at age 35.

Elton Brand said on Monday that he intends to play next season.

"My body feels good," Brand said. "I’m already training for next season." He is 34 years old and is coming off a fairly productive season, playing in 73 games. Brand has struggled to stay healthy for much of his career, but he'll enter free agency and could get some attention on a short-term deal.

Elton Brand said during his exit interview on Monday that he is undecided on whether he will play next season.

Brand, the number one overall pick in 1999, finished his 15th season in the NBA after the Hawks were eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday. He is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and will likely have to sign for the veteran minimum if he wants to continue his career next season.
