The 76ers have officially installed Elton Brand as the new GM of their G-League affiliate.
"It’s a totally different mindset and a totally different type of energy," Brand said at his introductory press conference. "I’m discussing players and trades and the business side of it. I was exhausted yesterday. Basketball is one thing but it was a different kind of tired. I’m looking forward to growing in that aspect." Brand retired from playing professionally just a year ago, but his passion for the game wouldn't permit a lengthy layoff. Tue, Aug 29, 2017 05:52:00 PM

The 76ers are planning to hire Elton Brand as the General Manage of their G-League team.

Brand retired in 2016 and has already been working for the 76ers as a development consultant, but he was always expected to take on more responsibility with the front office.

The 76ers have waived Elton Brand.

He announced his retirement earlier this week, but this makes it official. Brand was just a locker room presence for the young 76ers last season and his absence won't have any fantasy implications. He's expected to take on a front office role.

Elton Brand has officially retired.

Brand only played 17 games last season, so this move doesn't come as much of a surprise from the 37-year-old. Brand retires after 17 impressive NBA seasons and will likely now move to a front office role, according to reports.

Elton Brand has signed a one-year deal with the 76ers.

He's back. Brand played 17 games with one start mixed in for the 76ers last year, averaging 4.1 points, 3.7 boards, 1.1 assists and 0.5 blocks in 13.2 minutes per game. The 76ers have quite the surplus at center right now, so Brand is likely more of an extension for the coaching staff, assuming he makes the team. While he was one of the best fantasy big men in the 2000s, EB won't have fantasy value while the 76ers are remotely healthy.

Elton Brand is expected to retire after Philadelphia's regular season concludes.

"I think this is it," he said. A surprise signing for the Sixers, Brand will finish his solid career with averages of 15.9 points, 8.9 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 1.7 blocks on an even 50.0 percent shooting if he doesn't play another minute this year. Brand enjoyed his most productive stretch with the Clippers from 2003-07, averaging at least 20 points and nine rebounds in each of those four years.

Elton Brand will start at center for Tuesday's game vs. the Pelicans, sending Carl Landry back to the bench.

The 76ers will roll out a starting five of Ish Smith, Isaiah Canaan, Robert Covington, Jerian Grant and Brand for Tuesday's game, and while Brand will be earning the start tonight, he's not a very attractive target in most leagues with Nerlens Noel (knee) also returning to action.

Elton Brand scored two points with 10 rebounds, four assists and two turnovers in 23 minutes against the Pacers on Saturday.

He played 24 minutes on Friday, so 47 minutes in two days for the 37-year-old Brand is pretty impressive. Still, he's not really worth owning in most leagues.

Elton Brand turned back the clock in 24 minutes against the Hornets on Friday with 13 points, 11 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

He played down the stretch in this game with the 76ers sort of in it until the end. The 76ers playing on a back-to-back Saturday doesn't bode well for Brand to duplicate this playing time and output. You would have to be streaming out of desperation on Saturday.

Elton Brand scored 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting vs. the Warriors on Sunday, adding three rebounds, two assists and three blocks in 17 minutes off the bench.

The veteran was acquired to lead the young Sixers by example off the court, but he was pressed into a substantial role tonight with Jahlil Okafor, Nerlens Noel and Jerami Grant all ailing. It's great to see EB healthy and productive, but he's not worth fantasy owners' attention.

Elton Brand played eight minutes against the Blazers on Saturday with two points, two rebounds and one steal.

He will be backing up Carl Landry while Richaun Holmes (Achilles) and Nerlens Noel (knee) are out. Obviously, you can steer clear unless you're in a 50-man league.

Elton Brand is focused on setting a positive example within the Sixers locker room.

"Show the effort, the little things, the right spots on the floor to be, that hustle, that effort every play, and being at the nail defensively," Brand said. "It’s one thing to talk about it, but to show the effort, I think the young guys can see that, and it can help them grow." Brand is in Philly to help establish a winning culture, not to provide fantasy value in the year 2016.
Mon, Mar 14, 2016 10:35:00 AM

Elton Brand played 15 minutes on Saturday against the Pistons with 10 points, three rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block.

What year is it again? Brand got hot in the first quarter with eight points in that frame and didn't do much else. It's pretty cool to see him get run, but he's only a desperation stream in very deep leagues.
Sat, Mar 12, 2016 10:15:00 PM

Elton Brand played seven minutes against the Nets with two rebounds, one steal and one block.

He could be in the rotation on Saturday with a ton of carnage for the Philly frontcourt. Brand is not a fantasy option in almost any league, though.
Fri, Mar 11, 2016 09:33:00 PM

Elton Brand scored eight points with four rebounds in his season debut against the Heat on Friday.

Hey, he finally played. Brand signed with the 76ers back on Jan. 4 and this is just an example of how banged up the team is. He can remain on the wire.
