Elton Brand is not likely to actually step foot on the court for the 76ers this season.
"My first reaction is no, he doesn’t need to get into a game to provide our team tremendous value," coach Brett Brown said. "It’s just that the leadership he provides all over the place has nothing to do with 48 minutes." Brand has been on the active roster just once this season, but he picked up a DNP-CD during that game. Leave him on the wire. Feb 3 - 10:20 AM

Elton Brand did not travel to Detroit, and he will return to the inactive list for Wednesday's game vs. the Pistons.

Brand signed with Philly to be a steadying presence in the locker room, but he's yet to play a single minute for the 76ers this season. That's unlikely to change, and he can safely remain on the waiver wire in all leagues.
Jan 27 - 6:28 PM

Elton Brand has been placed on the active roster for Tuesday's game vs. the Suns with Jahlil Okafor (gastroenteritis) and JaKarr Sampson (upper respiratory infection) out.

Even if Brand plays, he's not going to earn enough minutes tonight to matter in any league. Leave him on the wire.
Jan 26 - 6:39 PM

Elton Brand will not suit up for Thursday's game vs. the Hawks.

The 76ers didn't sign Brand to give him major minutes, so he'll be on the inactive roster most nights. He has no fantasy value.
Jan 7 - 5:38 PM

76ers head coach Brett Brown said Elton Brand is in great shape.

While Brown said Brand looks like he's still 22, the 36-year-old won't be a regular part of the Sixers rotation and can be left on waivers in all fantasy leagues.
Jan 7 - 9:49 AM

Sixers sign F/C Elton Brand.

You read that right. Brand will be a mentor to Jahlil Okafor (among others), but he will hold no fantasy value. The Sixers have waived Christian Wood to accommodate Brand's place on the roster.
Jan 4 - 1:53 PM

Elton Brand has confirmed that he'll be signing with the Sixers.

In a self-penned essay for Sports Illustrated, Brand writes on how he is embracing this opportunity to truly play a mentorship role that he never took seriously previously in his career. The link can be found below, and it's well worth the read in its entirety.

The Sixers plan to sign Elton Brand to a contract on Monday, sources told Yahoo! Sports.

We had to make sure the calendar read 2016 and not 2006 before writing up the news just to make sure it was real. The Sixers have talked of adding veterans in order to improve the culture, and while Brand has a history with the franchise, he's unlikely to offer anything on the court and will instead play a mentorship role to Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor, among others.
Jan 4 - 11:39 AM

Elton Brand hinted that he will retire this offseason.

"I could get in shape if I got the call but this looks like the end of the run for me, right now it is family time," said Brand. It sounds like Brand is ready to call it quits after 16 years in the NBA, and he'll finish with career averages of 16.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.7 blocks per game.

Elton Brand said that he is still contemplating retirement.

"So far, I haven’t gotten the phone call," Brand said in regards to his NBA future. "We’ll see what happens." Brand doesn't sound very confident that he will play next season, and it's a little concerning that he hasn't received any interest. Brand was barely used by the Hawks last season, and he wouldn't have more than a limited role on any team. We will pass along any additional details when we know more.

Elton Brand said during his exit interview that he will take several weeks before making a decision on whether or not he will return for a 17th season.

"I’ll see if I have another year of trying to get prepared and what it takes to be on an NBA roster," Brand said. "There is a lot of work you have to put in… After two or three weeks, I’ll know. See if I have that itch." Brand will offer veteran leadership to any team's roster, but his days of fantasy relevancy are long behind him.

Elton Brand said he'd be interested in playing for the New York Knicks if he decides to play another season.

Brand said he almost signed with the Knicks last season before deciding to return to the Hawks, but hope the Knicks will pursue him again this summer. "I got to make a decision if I’m going to play and come back,’’ Brand said. "[The Knicks] are definitely on the radar for sure. Yeah, I’m thinking about it. Moving on to something else, but I still also love to play and still feel good. I’m going to look at both options." We'll keep an eye on Brand's situation once his Hawks are out of the playoffs, but the 36-year-old doesn't offer much for fantasy owners no matter where he plays next season.

Veteran big man Elton Brand had eight points, three rebounds, one steal and one block in a rare start at center on Sunday.

He played 21 minutes with Al Horford getting the day off to rest, but Brand hasn't been a viable option even when Horford is out of the lineup. He considered retiring last summer before inking a one-year deal with the Hawks, so this could be the end of the line for the two-time All-Star.

Elton Brand will start in place of Al Horford against the Kings on Monday.

The Hawks will also start Jeff Teague, Kent Bazemore, DeMarre Carroll and Paul Millsap. Brand may get over 20 minutes tonight an is worth a look in deep leagues.

Elton Brand has returned to the Hawks after dealing with a death in his family.

Brand has racked up DNP-CDs throughout the season, ceding backup PF/C minutes to Pero Antic and Mike Scott. The 16-year veteran is averaging 3.1 points and 3.1 rebounds in 11 appearances this season.
