After 13 seasons with the Pacers, Jeff Foster has announced his retirement due to chronic back injuries.
Foster was classy off the court and gritty on the court, and his absence will be keenly felt in Indiana. "I’ve given my all to the Pacers and the community the last 13 years," he said in a statement. "I want to thank the Simon family and the Pacers’ organization for 13 memorable years." Right back at you, Jeff. Wed, Mar 21, 2012 03:41:00 PM

Jeff Foster (back) is not expected back in the near future.

Foster will be reevaluated after having a shot in his back, but the Pacers aren't counting on him to return any time soon.

Jeff Foster (back) is out at least one week.

Foster needed another procedure on his troublesome back. The 35-year-old rebounder has appeared in just 11 games this season.

Jeff Foster's lower back forced him to miss Saturday's game.

The Pacers hadn't played in four days so this wasn't simply a conditioning issue -- Foster's chronic back pain isn't going away this season. If he can get healthy enough to grind out a small role in the playoffs (hacking Dwight Howard, perhaps?), his season will have been a success.

Jeff Foster (back) will not play in back-to-back games.

The Pacers will continue to have this plan for Foster in order to prevent Foster's lingering back issues to flare up. He is not on the fantasy radar.

Jeff Foster (back) returned to action on Thursday, scoring four points with four rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench.

Foster will have a few games here and there in which he plays decent minutes, but he's mostly harmless when it comes to the Pacers' frontcourt rotation.

Jeff Foster did not travel with the Pacers for Wednesday's game in Cleveland.

Foster has played in two of the past four games, but the Pacers seem as though they'll rest him any time they play consecutive games. Needless to say, he's not a fantasy asset.

Jeff Foster (back) returned to the inactive list on Saturday.

Foster played 13 minutes in his return on Friday, but either aggravated his chronically-sore back, or just decided he wasn't quite ready. Either way, he's not a fantasy asset.

Jeff Foster (back) returned to action on Friday, scoring six points on 2-of-3 shooting with seven rebounds in 13 minutes.

This is about as good as it gets for Foster, and we'll let you know if he picks it up any further.

Jeff Foster (back) will return to action on Friday.

Foster hasn't played in a game since January 14 due to a bad back, which has been a problem for him all season. He'll backup Roy Hibbert and provide depth at the end of the bench.

Jeff Foster (back) participated in his first full practice in weeks on Monday.

How Foster's back responds to the action will dictate his timeline to return. The Pacers could definitely use him down low as a backup behind Roy Hibbert, but he's not someone fantasy owners should have on their radar.

Jeff Foster (back) traveled with the Pacers but did not play on Friday.

Foster sounds like he's nearing a return, but shouldn't weigh too heavily in owners' assessments of the Pacers frontcourt, at least until he proves he can stay on the court.

Jeff Foster (lower back) is back with the team and could play on Tuesday against the Nets.

This only matters if Roy Hibbert's ankle injury becomes an issue in the next few days. Hibbert returned to Friday's game, so it's looking like Foster's return will only give the Pacers some much-needed depth.

Jeff Foster (lower back procedure) is expected to miss the rest of January.

Foster isn't traveling with the Pacers but it sounds like he could return in early February. There's little reason to think he can stay healthy this season, let alone provide fantasy value.

Jeff Foster will miss at least the next two weeks due to a back procedure.

Foster is 35 and has a long history of back issues. He was playing just 14.5 minutes per game off the Pacers' deep bench this season.
