Kenyon Martin did not go through practice on Wednesday because he's dealing with an "apparent new wrist injury," a source told the New York Post.
Martin's protective wrist wear is "precautionary" and the "sore wrist isn't considered extensive," but it's not clear exactly what the injury actually is. He wasn't on the injury report prior to Thursday's Game 5, so we're guessing this is nothing serious. Mike Woodson acknowledged that Martin is "tough" and is expected to play through it. Date:

Kenyon Martin (illness) will play and start in Tuesday's Game 4 against the Pacers.

Martin was just dealing with a little bug. Not only is he ready to suit up, but he'll start for the first time in these playoffs as coach Mike Woodson goes big. Pablo Prigioni is coming off the bench.

Kenyon Martin (illness) is going through shootaround on Tuesday.

Martin's bug was not believed to be severe, so it's a good sign that he went through shootaround. He's unlikely to be at full strength, but it would be surprising if he didn't play, especially since he said he planned to play at shootaround. Officially, he's a game-time decision.

Kenyon Martin's (illness) bug is not severe, according to Mike Woodson.

It seems like Martin's absence is more precautionary than anything else, and it would be a real surprise to see him be forced out of a critical Game 4 for the Knicks. "We've just got to be careful there," Woodson said.

Kenyon Martin (illness) did not practice again on Monday, and he's a game-time decision for Tuesday's Game 4.

Martin also missed Sunday's session, and while we'd be surprised if he didn't play in Game 4, two straight days of not participating in practice indicates just how sick he is right now, and his game-time designation more than 24 hours in advance of tipoff has us a little concerned.
May 13 - 10:12 AM

Kenyon Martin (illness) did not practice on Sunday.

He has caught the same illness that J.R. Smith has. Martin led the team with seven rebounds on Saturday, which was a massive area of weakness for the Knicks. They allowed 18 offensive rebounds and 20 second-chance points to the Pacers, so that'll have to be something the Knicks will need to fix by Tuesday. K-Mart should be ready.

Mike Woodson says Amare Stoudemire won't affect Kenyon Martin minutes whenever STAT returns from knee surgery.

Martin has been excellent since signing with New York and his presence on defense has been noticeable. Woodson says STAT and Martin could play together with Martin aiding Stoudemire on the defensive side of the ball. Of course, none of this is an issue just yet as Stoudemire is still not ready to return to the lineup.

Kenyon Martin (ankle) practiced on Thursday and is expected to play in Game 1 vs. Boston.

Martin was looking questionable, but he made it through two straight days of practice. At this point, it would be an upset if K-Mart wasn't available at the beginning of the playoffs.

Kenyon Martin tested his sprained ankle for the first time in running drills on Wednesday and reiterated he expects to be ready for the playoffs.

"Whatever it is, I'm playing," he said when asked to put a percentage on his health. "This is the time of year injuries really don't matter, especially for me." The Knicks will need Martin as a crucial reserve behind Tyson Chandler (neck), who has dealt with health issues of his own. Martin had X-rays which came back negative.
Apr 18 - 10:04 AM

Kenyon Martin (ankle) is not expected to play on Wednesday.

Martin will continue to prepare himself in order to hopefully be ready for the start of the playoffs, and he said that the pain is gone and he expects to play in Game 1 vs. Boston.
Apr 17 - 10:26 AM

Kenyon Martin (ankle) is expected to be ready for the start of the playoffs.

Martin is doing everything he can to prepare for the postseason, but we'll get multiple updates on him between now and the beginning of the playoffs to determine just how healthy he really is.
Apr 16 - 1:48 PM

Kenyon Martin (ankle) will not play against the Pacers on Sunday and won't travel to face Charlotte on Monday.

His ankle injury isn't of the garden variety and he's likely out for the regular season. K-Mart was helpful for the Knicks with Tyson Chandler's neck injury, so they got a good reward out of minimal risk. Martin could be ready for the postseason.
Apr 14 - 1:47 PM

Kenyon Martin (ankle) will not play Friday against the Cavs and does not have a timetable for his return.

Martin's status is day-to-day, but that's a meaningless designation when dealing with injuries in New York. His status is very much up in the air for Sunday against the Pacers and Monday against the Bobcats, and with Tyson Chandler (neck) also without a timetable, Chris Copeland and Steve Novak are locked into extended minutes in a small-ball lineup.
Apr 12 - 8:35 AM

Kenyon Martin (ankle) will not play on Thursday against Chicago.

We don't know the extent of Martin's ankle injury, and although X-rays were negative, he's already been ruled out of Thursday's game vs. the Bulls and Friday's game against the Cavs. Chris Copeland and Steve Novak will see extra minutes for a small-ball Knicks lineup.
Apr 10 - 1:07 PM

Kenyon Martin returned from a two-game absence with a knee injury and then went to the locker room for X-rays in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's game after spraining his left ankle.

The X-rays were negative, but he was in serious pain and pounded the floor multiple times just after sustaining the injury. Given Martin's age and his propensity to be hurt, there's a good chance that he misses some time. The Knicks are running out of bodies tonight and they are playing Chris Copeland at center. Martin played just under 18.5 minutes before leaving with the injury, but he could easily be in street clothes for the next one.
