Keyon Dooling is still the favorite to sign with the Grizzlies, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

The Grizzlies have been sniffing around the guard market for a few weeks and Dooling has always ben thought of as a primary target. If signed, he'll offer no fantasy value and would have to prove he's in basketball shape after not playing all year.

A source told Chris Vernon that the Grizzlies are evaluating five guards and are expected to sign one for the playoff push.

The five guards are Keyon Dooling, Jonny Flynn, Courtney Fourtson, Sundiata Gaines and Scott Machado. The Grizzlies could use a veteran presence at the point, so adding someone like Dooling or Gaines might make more sense than the others.

The Grizzlies are reportedly hoping to sign Keyon Dooling, according to Peter Vecsey.

Dooling has not made a final decision, but he's been in contact with the Grizzlies and plans to make a decision by the upcoming weekend. The point guard has been working in the Celtics' front office this season and would have to leave that position to play again. Memphis is also said to be considering Jonny Flynn as an alternative to Dooling.

Keyon Dooling, who works in an executive role for the Celtics, says he doesn't plan on making a comeback after all.

Dooling made the announcement Wednesday on Twitter. After the Celtics lost Rajon Rondo (torn ACL) for the season, Dooling said he had "entertained thoughts" about returning this season. Coach Doc Rivers even admitted he'd told Dooling to start getting back into basketball shape, but it appears GM Danny Ainge was correct when he said the 32-year-old Dooling isn't an option.

Doc Rivers told Keyon Dooling to get back into basketball shape as his return to the Celtics is a possibility.

GM Danny Ainge had said that Dooling was not an option, but it appears he is. Now 32 years old, Dooling has done work for the Celtics front office since retiring in the offseason.
Jan 29 - 12:37 PM

In the wake of Rajon Rondo's torn ACL, Keyon Dooling, now 32 years old, could consider a comeback.

Dooling works in an executive role for the Celtics, but he could return to the floor. "I'm not in shape, but I would [consider it]," he said. Dooling has "entertained thoughts" of returning, but Rondo's injury could expedite a decision from the veteran.

Keyon Dooling is not interested in joining the Heat, contrary to previous speculation.

"Keyon has decided that he has given the NBA 12 good years and that it's time to pursue other interests and spend more time with his family," his agent said. "He will never forget his time with the Boston Celtics."

Heat beat writer Ira Winderman believes that the Heat could make a play for Keyon Dooling.

Dooling was waived by the Celtics on Thursday in order to spend more time with his family and the idea is that he'll retire, but Dooling lives in Florida and has "long been a Heat favorite." Dooling would provide a veteran presence behind Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole, but we're filing this under speculation for now.

Guard Keyon Dooling was surprisingly waived by the Celtics on Thursday and will retire, according to his agent.

The Celtics are thin at point guard and as of now, it looks like Jason Terry is going to be Rajon Rondo's primary back up. Dooling will hang it up after 12 NBA seasons, and was expected to help at point guard this season, so don't be surprised if the Celtics make a play for another one soon.
