Courtney Alexander has made an impressive return from a torn Achilles' tendon, but the Hornets probably won't place him on the playoff roster.

"It can't happen this season," trainer Terry Kofler said. "He's working hard every day. The playoffs start next Saturday, and he hasn't even scrimmaged yet. In all fairness to Courtney, he's optimistic, and he's having great success in his rehab. But as far as playing playoff-caliber ball, which is much more than regular season, and much more than preseason, it would be a miracle."

Courtney Alexander suffered a torn right Achilles' tendon in the fourth quarter of tonight's game and likely will miss the season.

Alexander's loss will hurt the Hornets, but they're still covered at the guard spots as long as Baron Davis, David Wesley and Darrell Armstrong all stay healthy. Davis will probably see more time at shooting guard with Alexander out, increasing Armstrong's playing time. Stacey Augmon will also have a bigger role.
