The Raptors have hired Jamaal Magloire as a "basketball development consultant and community ambassador."
We'll consider this the equivalent of a retirement announcement for Magloire, who was waived by the Raptors during training camp this season. The one-time All-Star has career averages of 7.2 points and 6.5 rebounds in 12 NBA seasons. Sun, Nov 18, 2012 11:06:00 AM

Raptors waive Jamaal Magloire.

The 12-year veteran and former All-Star was never truly expected to make the team, but he's likely to remain with the franchise in a front-office or coaching capacity.

Jamaal Magloire will likely be cut by the Raptors in the coming days.

Some might have even realized that Magloire was still in the league, but he'll likely transition into a front office role of some sort in Toronto.

Raptors sign veteran C Jamaal Magloire for training camp.

Details of the contract haven't been disclosed, but it's almost certainly non-guaranteed. Magloire's odds of making the team are very slim, but he could stay with the franchise in a front office role, specifically in basketball development.

The Raptors will give Jamaal Magloire a partially-guaranteed contract, according to the Toronto Star, but with 16 players under contract he may not make the regular season roster.

The signing of Dominic McGuire maxed out Toronto's roster and made the addition of Magloire unlikely, but it seems the team will let him fight for a spot during training camp. Beat writer Doug Smith suggests that "if Magloire doesn’t stick on the roster he ... [could be hired] somewhere in the front office or in player development."

Jamaal Magloire is now unlikely to receive a non-guaranteed training camp invite from the Raptors.

The signing of Dominic McGuire apparently eliminated Magloire from Toronto's plans. With averages of just 1.2 points and 3.3 rebounds last season, Magloire's NBA career may be over.

Jamaal Magloire will receive a non-guaranteed contract from the Raptors.

Magloire was with the team in 2011-12, and now he'll enter training camp on a non-guaranteed deal. Toronto does need some depth behind Jonas Valanciunas and Aaron Gray, so Magloire could conceivably stick around. He averaged 1.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in 34 games last year.

Jamaal Magloire has no interest in retiring.

"There's no chance of that," he said. Dwane Casey wants the Raptors to re-sign the veteran, and it shouldn't take anything more than the veteran's minimum to get that done.

Jamaal Magloire is shooting 2-of-11 (18%) from the FT line this season.

Magloire airballed a FT in the clutch on Friday, and this should serve as a reminder to avoid him even if he's playing more while Andrea Bargnani (calf) is out.

Dwane Casey said that he's "leaning toward" starting Jamaal Magloire while Andrea Bargnani (calf) is out.

Magloire would start alongside Amir Johnson with Ed Davis coming off the bench. Magloire played just five minutes in his last game, while Davis logged 14 minutes (six points, six rebounds and a steal) in a reserve role. Magloire might start, but Davis offers significantly more upside and has a solid opportunity to put up some versatile stat lines while Bargnani is out.

Jamaal Magloire grabbed 10 rebounds on Monday against the Knicks, but only had one assist and did not score any points in his 18 minutes.

This is about as fluky as it comes and he'll be in the ice tub for weeks. Disregard and move on.

Free agent center Jamaal Magloire will sign with the Raptors.

Drafted in 2000, this is the final leg of a journey that started in Toronto where he was born. He will provide spot minutes in a backup role and nothing more.

Free agent Jamaal Magloire confirmed he will not retire.

Magloire, 33, appeared briefly in three playoff games. He's still a viable No. 3 center in the NBA and will get a minimum contract from someone.

The Magic have made inquiries about numerous veteran backup centers, including Ronny Turiaf, Tony Battie, Nazr Mohammed, and Jamaal Magloire.

Orlando doesn't have much to offer, however, as they're looking to unload Jason Williams, Daniel Orton, Quentin Richardson, Chris Duhon, and perhaps a second-round pick. This report just highlights how few quality big men are available in the NBA.

Veteran center Jamaal Magloire has officially signed a one-year contract to remain with the Heat next season. He will earn the veteran's minimum.

The Sun-Sentinel accurately sums up Magloire's value for the Heat -- "a bruiser on the court and a stabilizing presence in the locker room." He boasts career averages of 7.7 points and 6.7 rebounds, but isn't likely to even reach those numbers in Miami's suddenly stacked frontcourt.
