Former NBA swingman Ime Udoka has been hired as an assistant coach with the Spurs.
Udoka has seven years of NBA experience, including a cup of coffee with the Spurs in 2010-11, and he's also played in the D-League, France and Spain. His diverse experience and no-nonsense attitude should make him a perfect fit on Gregg Popovich's staff. We haven't heard a formal retirement from Udoka, but it appears his playing days are over. The New Jersey Nets waived swingman Ime Udoka on Friday.

Udoka has bounced around the league and may latch on somewhere else soon as an end of the rotation player. By waiving Udoka, it also means that Dennis Horner has grabbed the last spot on the Nets bench.

Udoka will serve as depth at the end of the bench and will not hold any sort of fantasy value barring a slew of injuries.

The Spurs could be looking at re-adding Ime Udoka on a 10-day contract in the near future.

They cut him on Wednesday, but have until Jan. 19 to sign 13th player. Whoever it is won't make a fantasy impact, but Udoka is probably at the top of their list.

Spurs waive Ime Udoka.

The move is a little surprising as Udoka had appeared in 20 games this season as a fringe rotation player. There's a chance he'll be back with the Spurs once they don't have to guarantee his contract for the season.

The Spurs have signed free agent F Ime Udoka.

Udoka gives Gregg Popovich another capable defender and certainly adds to the Spurs' depth, but he's not likely to generate value even in deeper fantasy leagues.

The Spurs are close to signing free agent forward Ime Udoka.

He played with them from 2007 to 2009 and had a decent Western Conference Semifinals against the Hornets in 2008. He is an extreme longshot to have fantasy value.

Ime Udoka grabbed 13 rebounds to go with seven points on 2-of-5 shooting (including a three) with no assists and two steals on Friday.

Udoka, like many other Kings including Francisco Garcia (10 points, five rebounds, 31 minutes) and Donte Greene (20 minutes, two points, three rebounds), will be the source of speculation if Tyreke Evans misses time due to his concussion and jaw injury suffered tonight. There's no telling which player steps up to fill the void, but they're all worth watching in the coming days.

Ime Udoka was active for Wednesday night's game against the Raptors but was a healthy scratch from the lineup.

Udoka missed Tuesday's game due to a sprained knee and ankle. Udoka is an occasional role player for the Kings and that's about all fantasy owners need to know.

Ime Udoka got a rare start for the Kings on Friday, in place of injured Donte' Greene, and hit 7-of-10 shots for season highs of 19 points, 14 rebounds and four 3-pointers to go along with two assists, two steals and a block.

Wow. We're not sure where this came from, as Udoka had scored a total of 22 points in his last four games. He played 35 minutes and stepped up on a night when Omri Casspi wasn't feeling it. We're not ready to tell you to run out and pick him up, as this appears to have been a fluke. But if he somehow sticks in the starting five over the next couple games, he's probably worth a look. But with Casspi having a strong season and the pending return of Kevin Martin, it's tough to imagine Udoka offering much value.

Despite rumors that Ime Udoka was on the cutting floor for the Kings, his services will be retained for the remainder of the season.

Udoka is primarily a defensive role player and he holds little value for fantasy leagues.

Ime Udoka had 13 points, five boards and three assists in Friday's loss, but missed a pair of free throws with 4.8 seconds leff that allowed Kobe Bryant to hit a game-winning three.

Udoka doesn't have much fantasy value, and went from having a chance to clinch the win to becoming the goat for the Kings tonight.

Kings swingman Ime Udoka came alive off the bench on Monday, scoring a season-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, with three 3-pointers, three rebounds and one steal.

Udoka's sticky defense and hot shooting keyed a 33-10 fourth quarter that gave Sacramento a four-point victory, and we don't expect him to duplicate this line any time soon. He hadn't scored double-digit points in a game all season prior to this.
