Kwame Brown has a $3 million player option for next season.
The Sixers defiantly defended the Brown signing last summer, chiding media that mocked the deal. Then he took 52 DNP-CDs even though Andrew Bynum sat out the entire season. And now they're going to have to buy out Brown if they want him out of their hair in 2013-14. Chalk it up as another blunder for a franchise that has been wallowing in mediocrity for a decade. The Sixers will start Kwame Brown alongside Spencer Hawes against the Pacers on Wednesday.

With Thaddeus Young (hamstring) sidelined, coach Doug Collins plans to mix and match his lineups based on the matchup. Brown should get the occasional start as a result, but Hawes remains the better fantasy option as long as Young is sidelined and Andrew Bynum (knees) remains out.

Kwame Brown could draw the start against the Pacers on Wednesday.

Without Thaddeus Young (hamstring), Doug Collins indicated he's likely to mix and match depending on matchups. Regardless, the biggest winner from a fantasy standpoint is Spencer Hawes, who will be thrust into a much larger role while Young is out and Andrew Bynum (knees) also remains on the shelf. Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner will also be tasked to do more.

Kwame Brown saw his first action since January 15 on Monday and had three points, two boards and one block.

His name doesn't carry a lot of street cred in fantasy leagues, so we wouldn't bend over backwards to pick him up. We probably wouldn't bend over frontwards to pick up Brown either.

Kwame Brown (personal) will not play on Friday against the Raptors.

Brown is buried on the bench and has no fantasy value.
Jan 18 - 6:46 PM

Kwame Brown missed practice Thursday due to personal reasons.

There was no further reason given for Brown's absence. Brown missed time earlier in the month due to a death in the family. The Sixers next play Friday against the Raptors so we'll probably hear more about Brown's status tomorrow. That said, he's a perennial backup with almost no fantasy value.
Jan 17 - 2:29 PM

Kwame Brown (personal) will not play Wednesday against the Raptors.

Brown is away from the team due to a death in the family. Even when he returns, Brown is stuck behind starter Lavoy Allen.
Jan 9 - 6:40 PM

Kwame Brown (personal) is not with the Sixers for Tuesday's game against the Nets.

Brown has appeared in just three of the Sixers' last nine games and will miss Tuesday to attend his grandmother's funeral. Lavoy Allen is entrenched as the starting center until Andrew Bynum gets back.
Jan 8 - 6:18 PM

Kwame Brown (personal) did not practice on Monday and his status for Tuesday's game is uncertain.

Brown's irrelevant to fantasy owners with Lavoy Allen locked into his starting spot.
Jan 7 - 12:21 PM

Doug Collins called Kwame Brown a "situational starter."

Brown will start a few games when the Sixers need his size inside while Andrew Bynum (knees) remains shelved, but he's otherwise not going to accrue a lot of playing time. This is where we're at with the former No. 1 overall pick, and nobody should be surprised.

Kwame Brown (flu) was healthy on Saturday, but he did not leave the Sixers' bench.

Doug Collins experimented with Kwame as a starter early in the season, but he's now settled into using Lavoy Allen and Spencer Hawes for the majority of the team's center minutes.

Kwame Brown (stomach virus) is now looking like a game-time decision for Friday.

Brown has played a very limited role for the Sixers this season, averaging 2.3 points in 12 minutes per game.

Kwame Brown did not practice on Thursday due to a stomach virus.

He's considered probable for Friday's game, but owners looking for help on the waiver wire can do way better.

Kwame Brown played well in Tuesday's win, finishing with season highs of six points and eight rebounds to go along with a steal and a block in 16 minutes.

Brown is a useless fantasy player, but looked better than both Lavoy Allen and Spencer Hawes tonight.
Tue, Nov 27, 2012 11:04:00 PM

Kwame Brown unexpectedly moved to the Sixers' bench vs. the Thunder, where he posted two points and two rebounds in eight minutes.

Brown hasn't been a fantasy asset despite the starting gig, so his move to the bench shouldn't disrupt any lineups.
