Pau Gasol said while training with the Spanish national team that he's "not at 100 percent" physically.
To be clear, Gasol isn't injured -- he's just not in ideal shape. "I hope ... to continue to improve and be ready for the [Olympic] Games," Gasol said. "My challenge is to help the team win and finish as high as possible." The Spurs would likely prefer that their 36-year-old center rest this summer, though to his credit he's missed a modest 14 games over the past two seasons combined. Jul 27 - 9:15 PM

Pau Gasol has officially signed with the San Antonio Spurs.

Gasol made his two-year, $30 million deal official on Thursday and will join LaMarcus Aldridge in a formidable frontcourt for the Spurs. While the 36-year-old will still see decent minutes for the Spurs, fantasy owners should expect his stats to take a minor dip as head coach Gregg Popovich is likely to manage Gasol's minutes.

Pau Gasol - F/C - Spurs

Unrestricted free agent Pau Gasol is finalzing a two-year, $30 million deal with the Spurs.

It's a player option on the second season for the future Hall of Fame big man. With Tim Duncan possibly retiring, Gasol could be looking at decent minutes as a starter. Gasol has been fairly durable in the last two seasons, missing just 14 games. He will turn 36 years old on Wednesday, so we can fully expect coach Gregg Popovich to manage his minutes.

Updating a previous item, the Spurs are now "lasered in" on signing UFA Pau Gasol.

Kevin Durant is heading to the Warriors, and with Tim Duncan reported to be strongly contemplating retirement, San Antonio will do everything in its power to ensure Gasol comes aboard. Viewed as the prototypical Spur by so many before the team even registered known interest in the big man, the potential match between the two parties feels incredibly natural.

The Spurs, Raptors and Blazers are "battling for Pau Gasol," a source told ESPN's Chris Broussard.

The source also told Broussard that while San Antonio and Toronto are "currently the frontrunners," Portland remains in the mix to acquire Gasol's services. The Blazers are reported to have put a two-year, $40 million offer on the table, but the veteran big man may not be prioritizing the biggest potential payday at this stage of his illustrious career. Gasol is expected to make his decision after the Kevin Durant domino falls.

Pau Gasol - F/C - Spurs

ESPN's Marc Stein 'predicts' that Pau Gasol is likely to sign with the Spurs if Kevin Durant opts for another team.

The implication is that the Spurs are still holding out hope that Durant will choose them over the Thunder, Warriors, Celtics and other teams -- but if not, Gasol could sign up to chase a championship in San Antonio. This 'prediction' carries weight because the Trail Blazers have reportedly offered Pau $40 million over two years, and the Raptors and Wolves are also interested, but it is by no means a definitive report. Gasol should choose a team soon after Durant makes his decision, which is expected on Monday.
Pau Gasol - F/C - Spurs

The Trail Blazers reportedly offered Pau Gasol a two-year deal worth $40 million.

Gasol will reportedly be earning an annual salary in the $18-22 million range, which will make it very tough for a team like San Antonio to sign him, assuming he's not interested in signing at a discount. Portland, Minnesota, Chicago and Toronto are reportedly having ongoing discussions with Gasol, and the Timberwolves have also reportedly offered Gasol an "aggressive" two-year deal. In terms of fantasy hoops, Portland would present Gasol with the best opportunity to produce.

Pau Gasol - F/C - Spurs

The Raptors have emerged as a possibility for unrestricted free agent Pau Gasol, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com.

With the Celtics getting a lot better today, the Raptors might have to do something to keep their No. 2 seed. Gasol turns 36 years old next week, but he played 31.8 minutes per game last year with averages of 16.6 points and 11.0 boards. This report adds the Wolves, Blazers and Spurs have registered "firm interest" for one of the best big men left on the market.

Pau Gasol - F/C - Spurs

The Wolves are "pushing" to sign free agent center Pau Gasol.

Gasol had a long talk with Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau on Friday night, but the Spurs are still in the mix and the Blazers reportedly made him an aggressive offer. Gasol's fantasy value would take a hit on all three of these teams, but he will be 36 years old on July 6 and a reduced role could extend his career. According to this report, the Blazers and Spurs are still the frontrunners.

Pau Gasol - F/C - Spurs

The Blazers made an aggressive offer to unrestricted free agent Pau Gasol on Friday, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

They just offered up a huge contract to Evan Turner and will look to add another piece up front. The Blazers might have to see some of their younger guys go to sign Gasol here.

Pau Gasol - F/C - Spurs

Pau Gasol is drawing interest from the Wolves, Knicks, Blazers and Spurs according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.

He's also been linked to the Warriors, but it's starting to become clear that a return to Chicago would be very unlikely. Gasol turns 36 on July 6, but he proved last season that he still has a lot to offer with averages of 16.5 points, 11.0 boards, 4.1 assists, 2.0 blocks and 0.6 steals.

If the Warriors are unable to nab Kevin Durant via free agency, they will reportedly try and retain Harrison Barnes while adding a proven big man like Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah, David West or Timofey Mozgov.

Mozgov is a rather odd name to appear on this list, but all the rest of the other guys make sense. The Spurs will also be in pursuit of Gasol, but the Dubs probably offer him the most realistic shot at competing for a championship, as he'd be a major upgrade to Andrew Bogut. Noah would likely be a backup with the Dubs, as would West, and neither of those guys would have much value. Free agency kicks off on July 1.
Pau Gasol - F/C - Spurs

Pau Gasol will reportedly be a free agency priority for the San Antonio Spurs.

Adrian Wojnarowski reports Gasol is at the top of the Spurs free agency wish list after he decided not to pick up his player option with the Bulls. While the Spurs will likely have competition for Gasol, they offer the 35-year-old an opportunity to win so it wouldn't be a huge shock to see him sign with San Antonio. We'll keep an eye on Gasol when free agency begins on July 1, but joining the Spurs wouldn't necessarily be a great thing for his fantasy value.

Pau Gasol - F/C - Spurs

Pau Gasol will not pick up his player option and will be an unrestricted free agent.

The writing has been on the wall for quite some time. Gasol is likely to be targeted by the Knicks, which would be a great landing spot for him. He likely won't be back with the Bulls with the team looking to change its identity.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Heat are discussing Al Horford, Joakim Noah, Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard as alternatives to Hassan Whiteside if the big man departs in free agency.

There really isn't much to take away from this report until if and/or when Whiteside actually makes a decision. If Miami loses him, they'll go back to the drawing board to determine which—if any—of the aforementioned big men could be the best fit for the new team they're (again) trying to build.
