The Nets have been actively shopping Joe Johnson over the past two days, according to sources of Mike Mazzeo.
The Nets have basically been "actively shopping" Johnson for the past two years, but it's hard to find any takers with his semi-ridiculous contract (he's owed $25.9 million next season). Johnson's numbers have been falling for three straight seasons, and he averaged 14.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 three-pointers during his 2014-15 campaign. Expect the decline to continue next year. Jul 2 - 7:19 PM

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

The Nets and Grizzlies discussed a Joe Johnson trade, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.

The two sides were unable to find a workable deal, but it gave the Nets confidence that they'll ultimately be able to move Johnson. Despite a massive $24.9M salary this season, Johnson is an expiring contract. The Pistons and Hornets have also registered "exploratory interest," which could be as simple as a "Sup?" text.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

The Nets may explore trading Joe Johnson, according to David Aldridge of NBA.com.

Johnson still has $24.8 million and two years left on his contract, but Aldridge writes he'd have no shortage of suitors if the Nets put him on the trade block. With the team looking to build around Brook Lopez, Johnson may very well find himself sporting a new uniform next year, but fantasy owners shouldn't expect too much no matter where he plays as Johnson will turn 34 this summer and is coming off a down season during which he averaged 14.4 points, 4.8 boards, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 three-pointers.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Tim Bontemps of the New York Post speculates that Joe Johnson could be playing for a new team in the 2015-16 season.

Johnson is heading into the final year of his max contract that will be on the books for $24.9 million, so it won't be easy to move him in a trade. Johnson battled through knee tendinitis and averaged just 14.4 points, 4.8 boards, 3.7 assists and 1.5 3-pointers during the regular season, and it's pretty obvious that he isn't the same player that he once was. The Nets are eager to build around Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young moving forward, so Johnson's time in Brooklyn could be up. This will be a story worth monitoring this summer.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson admitted that he has "no idea" what the Nets' roster will look like next season.

"I don't see us coming back as the same team," said Johnson, whose 14.4 points this season were his lowest since 2002-03. "To not even be a .500 ballclub in the East, it's disheartening ... I think everyone in that locker room is unsure of the future here." Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young are the most pressing issues for Brooklyn, as Lopez is an unrestricted free agent and Young has a player option for 2015-16.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson scored 17 points on 6-of-17 FGs and 5-of-8 FTs during a loss to his former team in Atlanta on Sunday, adding six rebounds, six assists and two steals without any turnovers.

The home crowd booed Johnson every time he touched the ball, and the 14-year veteran shot poorly while missing all six of his 3-point attempts. He took over primary ball-handling duties on many possessions down the stretch and will continue to be leaned on heavily -- he's averaging 34.6 minutes per game over the past month, the highest total of any player more than 30 years old.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson scored just seven points with three rebounds, nine assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in 28 minutes tonight.

He had a 10.5 usage rate tonight and maybe he wasn't 100 percent due to an illness. Even before tonight, Johnson has not been playing well and may lose playing time to Bojan Bogdanovic. Bogey is the better player to own right now.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson (illness) will play Friday vs. the Wizards, as expected.

He missed shootaround, but he was never expected to sit this one out. Johnson had been struggling badly up until his 21-point performance from Wednesday, so hopefully he can build off that performance. He's not necessarily a must-start guy on such a busy Friday night.
Apr 10 - 6:00 PM
Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson (illness) was not present during shootaround, but he's still expected to play Friday vs. the Wizards.

Johnson's numbers are down since the All-Star break, as he's posted averages of 12.8 points, 3.3 assists, and 1.5 three-pointers per game on 42.9 percent shooting from the field. He did however bust out of his shooting slump during his last game, scoring 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting, so hopefully he can continue on that trajectory on Friday. Still, he's not a must-start guy in standard leagues right now.
Apr 10 - 10:36 AM
Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson hit 9-of-15 shots and three 3-pointers for 21 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a steal in 37 minutes of Wednesday's loss against the Hawks.

Johnson was mired in a nasty slump, scoring nine or fewer points in three of his last four games and hitting 2-of-15 shots in his last two, but righted the ship tonight. Hopefully he'll keep it rolling, and fantasy owners should double check the waiver wire to make sure he wasn't dropped in your league.
Apr 8 - 11:08 PM
Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson made 1-of-10 from the field for six points with six boards and six dimes against the Blazers on Monday.

April is not his month. In his previous three, Johnson averaged just 8.7 points, 4.0 boards, 4.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 treys on 34.6 percent from the field. He's the fourth or fifth option on offense most of the time right now, so he's not a must-own player.
Apr 6 - 9:43 PM
Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson scored just four points against the Hawks on Saturday with two rebounds, three assists and one 3-pointer.

The Nets traded for Joe and it's going to cost them their first-round pick (they will swap with ATL). Johnson has cooled off, so his owners can consider cutting him after his game on Monday. The Nets do have four games this week for owners in weekly formats.
Apr 4 - 10:45 PM
Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson hit just 3-of-9 shots for nine points, but all three were 3-pointers, and he also chipped in with five rebounds, five assists and four steals in Wednesday's win over the Knicks.

Johnson led the team with 39 minutes, but cooled off after scoring 21, 18 and 20 points in his last three games. He made up for it with the threes, steals, assists and boards, and should bounce back in the scoring category sooner than later.
Apr 1 - 11:08 PM
Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson drained three 3-pointers vs. Indy on Tuesday, including a dagger late in the fourth quarter, finishing the Nets' home win with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists.

The 14-year veteran averaged 19.0 points, 3.0 threes, 6.5 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 1.0 steals in his previous two games, bouncing back from an extended slump in the nick of time for fantasy owners. He's very unlikely to face any DNP-CDs with the Nets vying for a playoff spot -- coach Lionel Hollins even said before the game, "I don’t think managing your minutes lengthens your career by one minute."
Mar 31 - 10:44 PM
Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson had 18 points, three 3-pointers, eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals during Sunday's narrow victory vs. the Lakers.

Johnson's scoring has tailed off since the All-Star break (12.7 ppg) but he's revved the engine a bit over Brooklyn's past two games. The Nets are in the thick of the playoff race, which eliminates the risk of a DNP-CD for the 33-year-old Johnson, and he's safe to keep active as a low-end source of value.
