Joe Johnson is open to a trade, according to sources close to the player.
Johnson had recently said he wouldn't create waves by demanding a trade from the lowly Nets, but it sounds like he is having a change of heart closer to the trade deadline. According to a report from Basketball Insiders, Johnson is "as miserable as he has ever been" and would welcome a change of scenery. While it sounds like Johnson could be headed for a trade or buyout, the 34-year-old is averaging 13.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2.4 treys over his last five games and is worth a nightly start as long as keeps up this pace. Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson did not score against the Grizzlies on Wednesday, adding two rebounds, one assist and four turnovers.

It wasn't his night. Surprisingly, Johnson came into tonight leading qualifiers for 3-point percentage in 2016. It still hasn't translated to great fantasy value with Johnson coming in at around top-100 value. He's only a low-end hold and cutting him for a speculative add isn't a bad idea.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson banked in a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to help the Nets beat the Nuggets 105-104 on Monday.

Some will say it was luck, but Johnson has been doing this his entire career. He finished with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting with eight assists, three boards, two steals and two 3-pointers in 30 minutes. He did score 20 or more points in two different games last week, but he still has very little upside and it's possible that the Nets negotiate a buyout so that he can join a contender. Regardless, it was nice to see him turn back the clock tonight.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson scored nine points with three assists and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes against the 76ers on Saturday.

He turned back the clock to like 2008 on Friday, but his time-altering methods didn't work tonight. Expect Johnson to be a late-round player going forward. His low upside makes him an undesirable add.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson scored 27 points with six rebounds, 11 assists, two steals, one block and five 3-pointers in 37 minutes against the Kings during a 128-119 victory.

The Kings should be embarrassed and they probably are. This is Joe's first game with more than 25 points and more than 10 assists since 2008. The Nets scored a season high tonight and this came out of nowhere. He is coming off a 20-point game, but Johnson's ceiling is really just a late-round guy.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson had 20 points, four rebounds, nine assists, two steals and four 3-pointers on 7-of-12 shooting in Wednesday's loss to the Pacers.

This was Johnson's best scoring game since Jan. 18 and he had just three points on 1-of-8 shooting on Monday. Prior to Monday's dud, he had scored in double digits in four straight games, and is still handing out solid assists on a nightly basis.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson said he won't ask the Nets to trade him to a contender.

Johnson left the door open for a buyout, but told reporters he won't push the Nets to trade him. "This late in my career, this isn't the ideal situation, obviously, but I'm not forcing anything," the 34-year-old said. Johnson is a borderline player in standard fantasy leagues, but has played better as of late and is worth an add if he's sitting on waiver wires.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson hit 5-of-8 shots and two 3-pointers for 15 points, four rebounds, eight assists and five turnovers on Tuesday.

Johnson's played progressively better in each of his last three games, although the turnovers were a problem tonight. He's a borderline player to own in standard leagues, but could be ready to get hot again. Thaddeus Young had 12 points and five rebounds, and Brook Lopez added 13 points and 10 boards in the loss.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson fell off a cliff on Wednesday with only three points on 1-of-7 shooting, one rebound, one assist and two turnovers in 31 minutes vs. the Cavaliers.

He was coming off one of his better games of the season, as he notched 22/7/5 vs. Toronto on Monday, but random duds are normal for Johnson. He had been playing well in January, though, so owners should cut him some slack for tonight's vanishing act.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

The Nets are reportedly unlikely to trade Joe Johnson, according to sources.

While the Nets will listen to offers, ownership is reportedly unlikely to pull the trigger on a Johnson trade. Johnson's expiring contract will be an asset that helps the team rebuild after the season, so they are unlikely to take on contracts they'd need to in order to move Johnson. His game has declined, but the 35-year-old has played better as of late and is worth a start in standard fantasy leagues.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson scored 22 points against the Raptors on Monday with five rebounds, seven assists and three 3-pointers in 37 minutes.

Not bad and he's quietly turned his season around. In his last five, Johnson averaged 16.2 points, 4.4 boards, 3.4 assists and 2.6 treys on 58.5 percent from the field. He's still not really doing much on defense with a combined three steals in his 10 2016 games and has a grand total of one block this season in his 1,450 minutes. He's a low-end add, but is worth starting while he's playing well.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson (quad) had a solid all-around game vs. the Knicks, posting 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists and one steal, with only two turnovers in 39 minutes of action.

The Nets rely on 2-point field goals more than any team in the league, as they've accounted for 68.1 percent of Brooklyn's scoring this season. They didn't get to the FT line much tonight (11-of-14) but were effective beyond the arc (9-of-17), with two of their makes coming from Johnson. The veteran has been dreadfully inefficient all season, so tonight's game is no cause for excitement.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson (quad) will be in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game vs. the Knicks.

Johnson sat out Tuesday's practice with a left quad contusion, but he was probable heading into this one, so it's not surprising at all to see him starting. Donald Sloan, Wayne Ellington, Thaddeus Young and Brook Lopez will join him in the starting five for tonight's New York matchup.
Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson (left quad contusion) is probable for Wednesday's game against the Knicks.

Johnson sat out Tuesday's practice, but it still expected to play on Wednesday. While Johnson isn't the player he once was, he's still worth a start in most fantasy leagues as he's averaging 13.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.2 steals, and 2.0 three-pointers over his last five games.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Nets

Joe Johnson played well against the Spurs on Monday with 16 points, three rebounds and two 3-pointers in 28 minutes.

He made 6-of-7 from the field and both free throws, but didn't add any dimes, steals or blocks. Johnson is starting to shoot the ball well lately, making 52.9 percent from the field in his last five with averages of 13.8 points, 3.6 boards, 2.4 assists, 0.2 steals and 2.0 treys. He's still only a borderline player to own in standard leagues.
