Joe Johnson scored 16 points with seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and one turnover in 42 minutes in Tuesday's overtime win over the Raptors.
Johnson was quiet in the previous series against the Hornets despite playing the second most minutes (33.7 per game) on the team behind Luol Deng, so it's a good sign to see him get off to a good start. He took a total of 19 shots for just the third time in his Heat career, connecting on seven of them. May 3 - 11:32 PM

Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

Joe Johnson hit 10-of-15 shots and three 3-pointers for 25 points, two rebounds, five assists and two steals to lead the Heat to a tough win over the Pistons on Tuesday.

The Heat caught Atlanta and moved into the No. 3 seed tonight and can seal it with a win at Boston on Wednesday. Look for the Heat to go all-in tomorrow night at Boston. Luol Deng had 17 points, 10 boards and three 3-pointers, Hassan Whiteside added 14 points, nine boards, two steals and three blocks, Goran Dragic had 16 points, five boards and four assists, and Dwyane Wade had 14 points on 6-of-16 shooting. Expect more of the same from the Heat starters on Wednesday. The Hawks only hope for the No. 3 seed is a win at Washington and a Heat loss at Boston.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

Joe Johnson scored 10 points during Wednesday's loss to the Lakers, making 4-of-9 FGs and 2-of-2 FTs with four boards, five assists and one steal in 36 minutes.

This is an encouraging sign for Johnson's fantasy owners -- he was on fire after joining the Heat in late February, but averaged a mere 4.8 points on 7-of-27 shooting (25.9 percent) over his previous four games. His cold spell notwithstanding, it makes sense to consider JJ in standard leagues.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

Joe Johnson made 1-of-8 from the field for two points with four rebounds, seven assists and four turnovers.

That's now four bad games in a row from Johnson, so it's probably time to move on in most leagues. Johnson's post-break efficiency has been among the best compared to pre-break, but his hot streak is over.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

Joe Johnson said he isn't worried about his recent struggles from the field.

"Honestly, man, I just try to take what the defense gives me," Johnson said. "We got so many guys on this team who can put it in the hole and create and make plays. Every night is not going to be my night, and I understand that. I’m not even trying to force that issue. I’m doing what I feel is necessary for the team. A win is a win. Doesn’t matter how you get it." He's averaging just 5.7 points, 2.7 boards, 4.0 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.3 3-pointers over his last three games, so his fantasy owners are probably running out of patience.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

Joe Johnson scored four points with one rebound, one assist and one turnover in 26 minutes against the Magic on Friday.

That's three bad games in a row from Johnson, averaging 5.7 points, 2.7 boards, 4.0 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.3 treys. He was clearly overachieving earlier this year with Miami, so he might be on the chopping block in fantasy leagues.
Mar 25 - 11:43 PM
Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

Joe Johnson managed just five points, five assists, two rebounds and one steal in 33 minutes vs. the Spurs, hitting 2-of-6 shots with one 3-pointer.

The playing time is in line with Johnson's average since joining the Heat, and there's nothing to worry about here. He's shooting 55.4 percent over the past month, making the most of his modest 18.1 percent usage rate, but the Spurs tend to have a chilling effect on even the hottest shooters.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

Joe Johnson scored 28 points during a 112-104 overtime loss to the Raptors on Saturday, adding four rebounds, five assists and four 3-pointers in 43 minutes.

Obviously Dwyane Wade (thigh) not playing here helped his scoring output. That said, the change of scenery has been huge for Johnson. Since joining the Heat, Johnson averaged 15.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.9 treys. He's suddenly turned into a must-own player with sixth-round value since changing teams.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

Joe Johnson played 34 minutes vs. the Bucks on Wednesday, scoring 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting with four assists, two rebounds and one 3-pointer.

Johnson's efficiency has been remarkable in Miami -- in his previous five games he was shooting 60.4 percent, including 66.7 percent beyond the arc. That's an unsustainable clip but the veteran is being judicious with his shot selection, while benefiting from easier looks than he saw in Brooklyn. He's posting mid-round value and is worth owning until he cools off.

Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

When asked where he is in learning Miami's offensive sets, Joe Johnson said that he's "about 65, 70 percent there."

"Offensively, it's simple," Johnson said. "We really don't have a lot of play calls. We just kind of play off instincts and obviously a lot of pick and rolls. So it's not that complicated. But at certain spots you've got be in at times, I screw 'em up from time to time. I'm just playing through it." Since joining Miami, Johnson is averaging 14.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 3PM on an unsustainable 60.4 percent shooting.
Mar 7 - 12:40 PM
Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

Joe Johnson had 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting vs. the Sixers, making two 3-pointers with five rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two turnovers in 31 minutes.

The Heat improved to 5-0 since acquiring Johnson, taking full advantage of a weak slate of opponents (Knicks, Bulls, Suns, and two games vs. the Sixers). Johnson gives Miami some much-needed offensive diversity, whether as a spot-up shooter or playmaker -- for instance, he passes a whopping 69.7 percent of the time when he touches the ball on the post (tops among players with at least one post-up possession per game). He lacks explosive upside but should remain a steady mid-round fantasy value in Miami.
Mar 6 - 8:51 PM
Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

Joe Johnson scored eight points with three rebounds, two assists and two 3-pointers in 31 minutes against the Suns on Thursday.

He's been really good with the Heat up until tonight, but it was inevitable he would cool off. Johnson isn't going to be highly used in the offense, especially now that Goran Dragic is in a groove and Hassan Whiteside's usage is on the rise. He's more of a low-end asset and isn't a must-own player.
Mar 3 - 10:22 PM
Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

Joe Johnson said he'd like to finish his career with the Miami Heat.

Johnson added he doesn't know how long he wants to play, but said he feels great physically. The 34-year-old has had a solid start to his two-game Heat tenure and is worth owning in standard fantasy leagues as he's averaging 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 three-pointers with Miami.
Mar 3 - 11:50 AM
Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

Joe Johnson scored 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting vs. the Bulls on Tuesday.

Johnson was able to get any shot he wanted against the Bulls' suspect defense, so it's not a surprise that he went off. Iso Joe added five boards, four assists, one block and two 3-pointers in 33 minutes, but keep in mind that he had just 12 points with three assists and three boards during his Heat debut on Sunday. For now, there's no reason to overreact to this line, but he is at least worth owning if you're looking for points and triples.
Mar 1 - 11:04 PM
Joe Johnson - G/F - Heat

Joe Johnson stated during a recent interview that he'd like to finish his career with the Heat.

"Hopefully I can finish my career here. I know nothing's set in stone, but we still got work left to do. I've got a lot of work ahead of me. So I'm looking forward to it. It's a challenge. And I'm looking forward to it." Johnson said that Pat Riley told him that he too would like for Johnson to finish his career in Miami, so the feeling appears to be mutual. Johnson played 30 minutes in his Heat debut, so he should be able to hold on to some late-round value in Miami.
