According to Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Zach Randolph could be banned from the NBA like former teammate O.J. Mayo if convicted of a felony marijuana charge.
Z-Bo was arrested on Wednesday and charged with "intent to sell" marijuana in California. TMZ reported that Z-Bo was in possession of two pounds of marijuana, but his agent Raymond Brothers called those accusations "false and misleading." This isn't Z-Bo's first run-in with the law, as he had incidents back in 2010 and 2011 -- he wasn't charged for either. According to the league’s collective bargaining agreement, a player can be "dismissed and disqualified from the NBA if he is convicted of, or pleads guilty, no contest or nolo contendere to, a crime involving the felony distribution of marijuana." Zach Randolph’s agent and attorney Raymond Brothers said that the recent drug charges against Randolph are "false and misleading."

Z-Bo was arrested on Thursday and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell. TMZ is reporting that Randolph and his associates had two pounds of marijuana with them at the time of the arrest. Randolph would be facing a lengthy suspension if found guilty, but we'll have to wait until legal matters proceed before attempting to speculate on possible punishment from the NBA or the Kings.

Zach Randolph was arrested on Wednesday for drug possession and intent to sell it according to TMZ.

Z-Bo was one of three people to be arrested and it sparked "a crazy disturbance" that forced the cops to call for backup. He was arrested for possession of marijuana, though the "intent to sell" part was due to the large amount of weed found. The bail for his release was set for $20,000. At the least, a suspension for Z-Bo should be on the horizon, but the Kings and NBA will likely make a statement once more is known.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN is reporting that Zach Randolph has agreed to two-year, $24 million deal with the Kings.

The Kings agreed to deals with both George Hill and Randolph on Tuesday. It is clear they are focused on bringing in respected veterans to mentor their young core. Randolph averaged 14.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 24.5 minutes off the bench in Memphis last season. It's probably safe to assume he'll post similar numbers in Sacramento. Randolph will split minutes up front with Skal Labissiere, Willie Cauley-Stein, Kosta Koufos and Georgios Papagiannis.

According to's David Aldridge, the Cavaliers are also interested in free agent PF Zach Randolph.

This comes on the heels of a report that Z-Bo will meet with the Kings, Thunder and Clippers, so he will have no shortage of suitors despite being well past his prime -- he turns 36 in July. A meeting hasn't been scheduled with Cleveland yet, but they are expected to at least reach out to him via phone on Saturday.
Jun 30 - 10:50 PM

Zach Randolph is set to meet with teams in Los Angeles when free agency opens, and is getting interest from the Kings, Thunder and Clippers, according to's David Aldridge.

Z-Bo has said he's looking forward to his time as a free agent, so he's going to take some meetings with teams to see what they have to offer. Still, he's said his goal is to remain with the Grizzlies, which isn't surprising based on the impact he's had on the team's identity and his impact in the community.
Jun 30 - 9:14 PM

Unrestricted free agent Zach Randolph said his goal is to stay with the Grizzlies next season.

After Z-Bo hopped around on four different teams from 2007 to 2009, he's been with the Grizzlies since 2009. Randolph's style play has become part of the culture in Memphis and he's very active in the community. He also has a good rapport with coach David Fizdale, so the 35-year-old big man is likely staying put. He won't be worth drafting in standard leagues next season.
Apr 28 - 2:36 PM

Zach Randolph played 38 minutes in the starting lineup during a loss to the Spurs on Thursday, scoring 13 points with 11 rebounds, one block and two turnovers.

After Randolph played just 24.5 minutes per game in the regular season, coach David Fizdale leaned heavily on his guy a ton during this series with 32 minutes per game. Randolph is going to be a free agent this summer, but the Grizzlies have to be a heavy favorite to bring him back. He may even have a statue outside of FedEx Forum one day.
Apr 28 - 12:35 AM

Zach Randolph scored 21 points in the starting lineup against the Spurs on Thursday, adding eight rebounds, one block and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes.

Coach David Fizdale loved what he got out of Z-Bo and he called him "fantastic" after the game. "It just matters so much to him," Fizdale said. He added he was very happy he was able to coach Randolph, and he mentioned that Z-Bo never really asked him to start despite how Randolph came off the bench for 68 games during the regular season. It looks like Z-Bo is headed for 30 minutes in Game 4, so he's a viable DFS play.
Apr 21 - 12:37 AM

Zach Randolph and James Ennis will start for JaMychal Green and Wayne Selden in Game 3 on Thursday.

Coach David Fizdale said there could be lineup changes coming, and he's not messing around this time. The Grizzlies did have some luck with their Z-Bo lineups and really any change makes sense after they were thumped in the first two games. Expect Randolph to see minutes in the upper 20s.
Apr 20 - 7:52 PM

Grizzlies' head coach David Fizdale confirmed that he will tweak his starting lineup for Thursday's Game 3 against the Spurs.

Fizdale wouldn't say exactly who will be moving into the starting five, but both James Ennis and Zach Randolph are the most obvious potential candidates considering JaMychal Green and Wayne Seldon haven't done much of anything as starters. Randolph also started the second half of Game 2, and finished with 18 points, 10 boards, one assist and three steals in 36 minutes, so he could be on the radar as a potential low-budget DFS option tonight.

Zach Randolph started the second half of Game 2 vs. the Spurs and double-doubled with 18 points, 10 rebounds, one assist and three steals in 36 minutes.

Z-Bo nearly helped the Grizzlies claw their way back from a 26-point deficit and shot 9-of-18 from the field, and with his team falling into a 2-0 series hole, he may move into the starting lineup for Game 3 on Thursday. If he does, Z-Bo would be a solid low-priced option in DFS because JaMychal Green hasn't given the Grizzlies much in this series.
Apr 18 - 1:07 AM

Zach Randolph and James Ennis started the second half of Game 2 vs. the Spurs on Monday.

The Grizzlies have to try something, as they're on the verge of their second straight blowout defeat -- they were trailing by 19 points at the half. JaMychal Green played just six minutes in the first half and will start the third quarter on the bench along with Wayne Selden.
Apr 17 - 11:12 PM

Zach Randolph scored six points with three rebounds, one assist and one turnover in 26 minutes against the Spurs on Saturday.

Yeah, that's not good. Randolph made just 3-of-13 from the field and he was somehow -39 in the +/- stat during his time out there. Before the game, coach David Fizdale mentioned Z-Bo as the No. 3 option for the Grizzlies, which makes sense because the lineups with Randolph and Marc Gasol had a lot of success against the Spurs during the regular season. Still, this series looks like it'll be ugly.
Apr 15 - 10:41 PM

Zach Randolph scored 15 points with five rebounds, two assists and two turnovers in 20 minutes against the Mavs on Wednesday.

He will be a very important piece against the Spurs in the first round. The Grizzlies had a lot of success with Z-Bo and Marc Gasol lineups against the Spurs this year while the Gasol and JaMychal Green lineups were thumped. Expect to see more Randolph in the postseason.
