Mehmet Okur - F/C - Trail Blazers

Unrestricted FA Mehmet Okur is not an option for the Timberwolves anymore.

Minnesota had been sniffing around Okur for some time, but the team won't offer him more than the veteran's minimum and he's apparently got no interest in that. For what it's worth, Kenyon Martin is not an option for the team either, but that has never been pegged as a player the team was seriously targeting.

Real Madrid reportedly inquired about free agent Mehmet Okur, but "hung up the phone" when they heard his contract demands.

Okur has never been a great defender or rebounder, and he has been particularly ineffective since 2010 due to Achilles surgery and chronic back injuries. He has refused to sign for the veteran's minimum in the NBA and will probably end up signing with a team in Turkey.

Galatasaray is interested in signing Mehmet Okur.

The Turkish team would make sense for Okur, who actually signed in Turkey during the NBA lockout last season. He really hasn't had a market stateside whatsoever beyond Minnesota's reported interest and it wouldn't be surprising to see him finish his career overseas.

The Timberwolves still have Mehmet Okur on their radar, but are only able to offer the veteran's minimum at this time.

Okur has repeatedly said he won't sign for the minimum, so it seems like the Turkish big man and the T-Wolves are playing a game of chicken right now. If Okur is willing to come down on his salary demands Minnesota may be interested, but until then he may need to look overseas to command a bigger paycheck and/or larger role.

Unrestricted free agent Mehmet Okur is not interested in accepting the veteran's minimum salary.

Okur has drawn interest from the T-Wolves (the only NBA team rumored to have interest), but a "source close" to Okur said that the team is a "long shot" to sign him. It's entirely possible Okur heads overseas to secure a bigger paycheck and larger role at this point in his career.

The Timberwolves may try to offer Mehmet Okur the veteran minimum.

The veteran minimum is all the Timberwolves could offer, so they'd have to be considered as an underdog to acquire the Turkish center. Okur dealt with back issues in 2012 and played just 17 games. There's no reason to even think about drafting him.

Mehmet Okur - F/C - Trail Blazers

The Turkish media is reporting that F/C Mehmet Okur may be returning to Turkey to sign with Fenerbahce Ulker.

Okur has played a grand total of 30 NBA games over the past two seasons thanks to a bad back and was most recently waived by the Trail Blazers after never playing a game for them. There's still a chance he could end up back in the NBA at some point, but it doesn't appear to be likely.

Mehmet Okur will be waived by Portland to clear a roster spot for J.J. Hickson.

Okur wasn't going to play for the Blazers this year, whether or not his back injury even allowed him to play. Hopefully the 32-year-old can get healthy and mount a successful season in 2012-13.

Acting GM Chad Buchanan said that Mehmet Okur (back) will not play for the Trail Blazers.

Okur was dealt to Portland in the Gerald Wallace deadline deal, but the Trail Blazers were solely interested in his expiring contract.

Mehmet Okur, who hasn't played since Jan. 25 due to a back injury, is heading to Portland in the Gerald Wallace deal.

We'll have to see if he ever gets healthy again, but the Blazers can always use extra bodies at center. Don't expect to see Okur play again this season.

A Turkish website reports that Mehmet Okur is done for the season due to his back injury.

The brief article cites "multiple sources" and this meshes with the Nets' official announcement that Okur is out indefinitely. We're just hoping that his chronic back problems ease up enough for him to play next year.

Nets announced that F/C Mehmet Okur is out indefinitely.

That isn't much of an update considering he hasn't played since January 27, but it's clear the team isn't expecting him to return at any point in the near future. He's been an afterthought due to his chronically bad back since being acquired from Utah before the season.

The Nets have no update on the status of Mehmet Okur (back).

Okur hasn't played since Jan. 25. The Nets could certainly use the Turkish Tornado with Brook Lopez (ankle) sidelined again, but Okur's back woes are chronic. His name could come up in trade talks thanks to a $10.9 million expiring contract.

Okur's back just isn't a good bet to hold up under the stress of basketball activities. He's a guy that needs to prove himself before owners should pay him any attention.

Batum's injuries were bad enough that he sat out the final eight games of the season. However, it looks like he'll avoid surgery and should enter next year at 100 percent.
