The Suns have reportedly fired head coach Earl Watson.
The Suns have gotten off to a dreadful start this season, with two 40-plus point losses in three games, and someone had to take the blame for those horrible losses. In the meantime, associate head coach Jay Triano should step up as the interim head coach, and it would make sense to see guys like Marquese Chriss and Alex Len to become a larger part of the rotation, putting both those guys on the radar as a speculative add in 12-team formats. Suns coach Earl Watson hinted that player development will continue to be the focus the rest of the season.

"We have to be very decisive making moves going forward," Watson said. "We can't guess, so we have to see if Alex [Len] can get extended minutes. We have to see if Alan Williams can be a rotational player. We have to see if Tyler Ulis is a backup point guard. We have to see if T.J. Warren can get extended minutes and be a starter. There's a lot of opportunities going around." With the Suns building towards the future, Tyson Chandler and Brandon Knight are trending in the wrong direction and both players picked up DNP-CDs on Friday night.

Earl Watson has reportedly agreed to a three-year deal to become the next head coach of the Phoenix Suns.

Watson showed a knack for being able to connect with his players, as both Devin Booker and Markieff Morris flourished with Watson at the helm. It'll be interesting to see what Watson does with his rotations next season with Brandon Knight, Eric Bledsoe and Booker all healthy.

Earl Watson is the frontrunner for the Suns coaching job next season, according to Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic.

"Earl Watson has done a terrific job over the past two months under very difficult circumstances, so he’ll certainly be a part of that process," general manager Ryan McDonough said. "Over the past couple months, he has helped solidify himself as a legitimate candidate." Watson's plan to run a more concrete rotation worked as the Suns played some closer games later in the year.

The Suns have promoted assistant coach Earl Watson to interim head coach.

The Suns picked him up in the offseason and some believed it was to help bring LaMarcus Aldridge to Phoenix. Now, he'll get a chance to be the head coach just two seasons removed from 2013-14, his last season in the NBA as a player. The Suns will likely be sellers at the deadline.

The Suns are expected to name either Earl Watson or Corey Gaines as interim head coach, sources told The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Arizona Republic note that Nate Bjorkgren will also get an interview, as well. After firing Jeff Hornacek—who was a dead man walking—on Sunday night, the Suns are expected to pick the interim replacement internally. Watson may have the upper hand due to his relationship with some of the players on the roster, but either choice will result in Phoenix doing the same thing: Letting the kids play.

Earl Watson has accepted an assistant coaching position with the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.

Watson is highly respected around the league and will be a solid addition to the Suns' coaching staff. Watson played point guard for 13 years in the NBA, so Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Knight and Archie Goodwin will all benefit from the hire.

Earl Watson will retire from the NBA and join the Spurs' D-League coaching staff.

He played point guard in the NBA for 13 years and certainly has the experience. Watson had great luck with coaches in his playing days, including Jerry Sloan, George Karl and Hubie Brown. He could wind up being a head coach one day.

Veteran PG Earl Watson is interested in coaching the Utah Jazz and is hoping to interview for the position, according to

Jazz forward Gordon Hayward said that he's "definitely pulling for Earl to get the job," which is a key endorsement as Watson attempts to follow Jason Kidd's example by leaping straight into coaching immediately upon his retirement as a player. If the Jazz pass on him as a coach candidate, Watson remains open to playing another season in the NBA.

Earl Watson (calf) is on the active list for the Blazers on Saturday.

He's been out of the lineup all season with a calf strain, but the Blazers don't really need him. Watson shot just 30.4 percent from the field last year and is unlikely to play in normal circumstances.

Earl Watson will not play against the Nuggets on Friday.

He missed the season opener in Phoenix and has been limited since Oct 4. Watson will back up Damian Lillard and has no fantasy value after a horrible year in Utah last season.

Earl Watson, who missed Wednesday's opener with a calf injury, is listed as questionable for Friday against the Nuggets.

Watson is a back up point guard and doesn't have fantasy value, but could steal a few of Damian Lillard's minutes if he's able to go.

Coach Terry Stotts said on Monday he's unsure if guard Earl Watson will be able to play through a calf injury in the opener.

Watson has no fantasy value but if he's out, it could mean a few more minutes for starter Damian Lillard.

Earl Watson (calf) returned to action on Sunday but went scoreless with one assist in 12 minutes.

Watson brings veteran stability and competent PG play to the Blazers' second unit, and he should earn minutes at least until C.J. McCollum (foot) returns to action. He is not, however, worth drafting in fantasy leagues.

Earl Watson (calf) is expected to play on Sunday.

He's been dealing with a strained calf for much of training camp and will finally be able to make it back to game action. Watson was terrible last year and is off the radar in fantasy leagues.
