The Wizards haven't decided if they will keep Drew Gooden.
Gooden is on the books for $3.6 million for the 2016-17 season, but the deal isn't guaranteed. If he does remain with the Wizards, he will likely have a very limited role off the bench. Washington has until July 15 to make a decision. Jun 24 - 11:45 AM

Drew Gooden is planning on returning for the 2016-17 season.

Gooden will turn 35 before the 2016-17 season begins, but the veteran isn't planning on retiring just yet. He's technically under contract with the Wizards, but it's a team option to meet CBA requirements so he could be headed to a new team. We'll keep an eye on where Gooden lands this summer, but he's no longer a fantasy option.
Apr 14 - 9:34 AM

Drew Gooden (illness) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Bucks.

Gooden could be in line for some extra minutes if he's able to play as Kris Humphries (illness) is also questionable, but he's only averaging 2.0 points and 2.6 rebounds over his last five games so there isn't much fantasy value here. If both players sit, DeJuan Blair and Nene would see a small boost in playing time.

Drew Gooden played five minutes against the Celtics on Monday.

He returned from another calf issue and won't be playing much while the Wizards are healthy up front. Gooden isn't worth owning in almost any league.
Jan 25 - 9:34 PM

Drew Gooden (calf) is active for Monday's game vs. the Celtics.

His calf has been an issue for most of the season, so his minutes should be very limited if coach Randy Wittman calls his number. Gooden is not on the fantasy radar.
Jan 25 - 6:30 PM

Drew Gooden (calf) went through shootaround, and he's expected to play on Monday vs. the Celtics.

Gooden was reported as "in" for this one three days ago, and his participation in shootaround all but confirms that news. As for his fantasy appeal, Gooden is not on the radar.
Jan 25 - 12:26 PM

Drew Gooden (calf) will play on Monday vs. the Celtics.

He made it through Friday's practice after sitting out the past three games, but he will have a limited role off the bench as long as Nene and Jared Dudley are active. Gooden has seen better days and is not on the fantasy radar.
Jan 22 - 12:50 PM

Drew Gooden (calf) will not suit up for Wednesday's game vs. the Heat.

Gooden has missed the past two games after his calf injury flared up after logging 27 minutes vs. the Bulls and January 11, and there's no telling when he'll be able to get back on the court. Nene and Jared Dudley will be splitting minutes at the power forward slot, with Marcin Gortat getting all the run he can handle. For what it's worth, Gooden said that his calf is just sore and that no MRI was required to further assess the injury, but that doesn't change his status as a non-factor in fantasy hoops.
Jan 19 - 2:23 PM

Drew Gooden (calf) did not practice on Tuesday.

The calf injury has become a lingering issue for Gooden, and with Marcin Gortat back in action it's even less likely that Drew will play Wednesday vs. the Heat. He's not a regular part of the rotation while Nene and Gortat are in uniform, so his absence doesn't have much consequence in most leagues.
Jan 19 - 2:05 PM

Drew Gooden (calf) has been ruled out of Monday's game vs. Portland.

Gooden hasn't been able to stay healthy, but it doesn't matter right now with Marcin Gortat (knee) and Nene (fragile body) healthy.
Jan 18 - 12:22 PM

Drew Gooden (calf) will not play on Saturday vs. the Celtics.

He just can't stay healthy this season. Luckily for the Wizards, Marcin Gortat (knee infection) is back with the team, so Gooden's owners should move on.
Jan 16 - 6:22 PM

Drew Gooden had five points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal in 27 minutes off the bench on Wednesday, earning more minutes with Marcin Gortat (knee) unavailable.

The Wizards came in with four straight home losses, a streak that ended tonight even though Milwaukee shot 52.8 percent from the field. The Bucks also won the rebound battle 47-30, but gave it all back with 27 turnovers. Gooden is worth a look as a DFS punt play until Marcin Gortat (knee) returns, but that's about it.
Jan 13 - 11:03 PM

Drew Gooden played 27 minutes against the Bulls on Monday with 10 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and one block.

Was this a revenge game for Gooden against his team from 2007-09? He only had a grand total of four assists this season before tonight and he posted his second double-double of the year, too. Marcin Gortat (knee) shouldn't be out for too long, so Gooden isn't a great add.
Jan 11 - 10:53 PM

Drew Gooden played 10 minutes on Friday against the Raptors with three points, three rebounds and one 3-pointer.

He played some power forward tonight for the Wizards, but obviously won't be let loose unless the team is decimated with injuries. Considering the team has already had a ton of injuries on the year, it's pretty clear Gooden has almost no chance to post fantasy value.
Jan 8 - 9:31 PM

Drew Gooden (calf) will play around 10-12 minutes on Friday vs. the Raptors.

The Wizards can't afford to lose any more players to injury, so they will ease Gooden back into the rotation very slowly. Leave him on the wire.
