Chris Wilcox said he'd like to re-sign with the Celtics this summer, but acknowledged that his future is uncertain.
"I had to come into training camp [last season] with really no workouts, just come in and start playing," said Wilcox, who returned from heart surgery. "This summer I can dedicate to working out and just strengthening my overall game." He played 14 minutes per game for Boston in 2012-13, and we doubt his role will expand regardless of which team he signs with. May 19 - 11:45 AM

Chris Wilcox would "love" to re-sign with the Celtics.

The feeling might not be mutual. Wilcox struggled through an injury-plagued season with Boston during his second season with the Celtics, and the team needs a big man capable of staying on the floor behind Kevin Garnett. "If it's meant to be, it'll be," Wilcox said.
May 13 - 9:14 AM

Chris Wilcox started at center and had six points, six rebounds, a steal and a block in 21 minutes against the Cavaliers.

Wilcox is worth keeping an eye on in case he ends up keeping the starting gig for as long as Kevin Garnett is out, but we'd still rather own Brandon Bass.
Mar 27 - 11:35 PM

Chris Wilcox will start Wednesday as the Celtics go big against the Cavs.

Wilcox is starting because of the injury to Kevin Garnett, who could miss up to two weeks with "inflammation of the ankle." Wilcox still isn't worth consideration in most formats despite the spot start and it'll be Jeff Green that benefits the most from Garnett's absence.
Mar 27 - 6:28 PM

Although Chris Wilcox has taken over the Celtics' backup center role, coach Doc Rivers says his minutes aren't guaranteed.

Wilcox had five points and one rebound in 15 minutes Friday night, after which Rivers seemingly threatened Wilcox's reserve role. "We want Chris to play better. That’s the guy we want but that doesn’t mean that’s the guy it’s going to be. There’s other guys behind him, they want his minutes, too," Rivers said. Wilcox hasn't done anything to distinguish himself this season and doesn't belong on any fantasy team.
Mar 23 - 10:22 AM

Chris Wilcox, who rejected a trade to the Wizards at the deadline, is hoping to prove his worth to the Celtics.

Wilcox was initially set to be sent to Washington with Leandro Barbosa's contract, but Wilcox rejected the deal because he didn't want to lose his Early Bird Rights. Instead, Jason Collins was sent packing to the Wizards in the Jordan Crawford trade. "I know what I need to do to prepare," he said. "I think now it's just more going out and playing my game."

Doc Rivers said Chris Wilcox needs to raise his game "in a big way" as the primary backup behind Kevin Garnett.

"Whatever number you want to put more (that he has to do), use it," he said. "But he has to, and I’ve told him that. It’s no secret. We’re down on bigs, and he has to play better." "He definitely put a lot on me, and at the end of the day we all have to respond," Wilcox said. "I just go out, play hard and bring energy."
Feb 25 - 9:09 AM

Chris Wilcox scored a season-high 14 points with eight boards and one block in 22 minutes against the Suns on Friday.

He shot 7-of-9 from the field and had everything working in his favor with Kevin Garnett sitting out, the game getting out of hand and going against a weak Phoenix team. The Celtics are bringing in D.J. White to help and Kevin Garnett should be back on Sunday. Wilcox can remain on all wires.
Feb 23 - 1:55 AM

Chris Wilcox is available to play, but he was a DNP-Coach's Decision on Wednesday.

He's over his thumb injury, but Doc Rivers wants him to get one more practice before putting him back into action.
Jan 17 - 9:07 AM

Chris Wilcox (thumb) could return for Wednesday's game against the Hornets.

Wilcox is still wearing a protective cast on the joint of his thumb, but even if he's ready to play, he's going to have a tough time cracking the rotation with Jared Sullinger, Brandon Bass and Jason Collins playing well.
Jan 15 - 9:08 AM

Chris Wilcox (thumb) will be in uniform on Monday but he is not expected to play.

The Celtics have won five straight games with Jared Sullinger playing a bigger role off the bench, and Wilcox will be eased into the rotation whenever he's healthy enough to play.
Jan 14 - 6:34 PM

Chris Wilcox (thumb) returned to practice on Sunday, as expected.

Wilcox has a sprained UCL in his right thumb and he had the finger wrapped up during practice, but it sounds like he's on pace to return this week. It's good news for the Celtics' bench but doesn't have fantasy implications.
Jan 13 - 12:45 PM

Chris Wilcox (thumb) has been taking shots while wearing a wrist brace and hopes to practice Sunday.

There is still no definitive timetable for his return and he remains a non-factor for fantasy purposes.
Jan 12 - 10:36 AM

Chris Wilcox (thumb) returned to practice on Thursday.

Wilcox still has an uncertain timetable but is tentatively targeting a return in late January.
Jan 11 - 9:34 AM

Chris Wilcox (thumb) is ahead of schedule and will attempt to practice on Thursday.

Wilcox was looking to return to practice on Sunday, so he's a few days ahead of schedule. When he does return, it will be to an uncertain role and no fantasy value. It's still unclear when he may be able to return to game action, but it sounds like he's targeting mid-to-late January.
