While the Lakers "like their young core and would prefer to keep those players growing together, they have told teams no player is untouchable in trades," according to Tania Ganguli of the L.A. Times.
The report states that Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle or Josh Hart could all be had for the right price. This isn't shocking, as the Lakers have long been planning to make a major push for LeBron James and/or Paul George this summer. If it takes moving one of their young studs to make that happen, the Lakers won't hesitate. May 19 - 1:29 PM

The Lakers have been fined $500,000 for violating the NBA's anti-tampering rules.

The good news for the Lakers is that they won't be forced to cough up any draft picks. Per the NBA, Lakers GM Rob Pelinka expressed his interest in Paul George to his agent while he was still under contract with the Pacers. This was Los Angeles' second strike, as Magic Johnson hinted strongly during an April 20 national TV appearance that he would pursue George as a free agent. For what it's worth, the investigation didn't find any evidence of a deal in place for George to join Los Angeles in 2018. Thunder fans can breathe for now.

The Lakers are not expected to be active in free agency.

With the Paul George trade rumors working their way through the spin cycle, the Lakers have made no secret that they've got both eyes focused on the summer of 2018. "Of course in free agency we will be very, very strategic to keep the cap space in July 2018," GM Rob Pelinka said. "We are going to be very sacred about that. We worked hard to get in that position and so we will be smart in free agency but add the right players to make sure our young guys are developed the right way and not too much too soon." Don't expect Los Angeles to extend multi-year offers, instead focusing on one-year commitments with team options for 2018.

The Lakers are trying to acquire another first-round draft pick according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

The Lakers already have two picks in the first round at No. 2 and No. 28, but they have engaged "at least two" different teams in the lottery about acquiring another pick. Shelburne said that the Lakers are looking for outside shooting and perimeter defense, and she added that they are considering Lonzo Ball, Josh Jackson or De'Aaron Fox with the second overall pick. It's not clear what the Lakers are willing to give up in any potential trades, but Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle could potentially be on the move. The Lakers would love to shed the awful contracts of Timofey Mozgov and Luol Deng, but finding a suitor for them won't be easy.

The Lakers won the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

The Lakers only had a 46.9 percent chance of keeping their pick, as they would've had to send their pick to Philly if it fell out of the top three. This is a huge relief for the franchise and also means they will keep their 2019 first rounder, but it does mean their first round pick in 2018 will go to Philly no matter what. The 76ers will pick at No. 3 in 2017, followed by the Suns (No. 4), Kings (No. 5), Magic (No. 6), Wolves (No. 7), Knicks (No. 8), Mavericks (No. 9), Kings (No. 10), Hornets (No. 11), Pistons (No. 12), Nuggets (No. 13) and Heat (No. 14).

On ESPN's coverage of the NBA Draft Combine, president Magic Johnson said he intends to focus more on the 2018 free agent class and not as much on the 2017 class.

He said he wants to save some cap space this summer to help his pitch in 2018. In other words, the Lakers may have one more year in their rebuild, and this may have something to do with Paul George. The Lakers have a huge night coming up on Tuesday when they hope to land a top-three pick in the draft lottery.

Rob Pelinka has officially come on board to be the Lakers next general manager.

The Lakers reportedly struck a deal with Pelinka a couple weeks ago, but he needed to divest from his agency before things could become official. It'll be interesting to see if the Lakers' new front office duo of Magic Johnson and Pelinca are able to have more success at attracting free agents to the Los Angeles franchise.

The Lakers are reportedly closing in on a multi-year deal with agent Rob Pelinka to install him as Los Angeles' next GM.

The agent-to-GM move worked out pretty well for the Warriors, so the Lakers will try and replicate that success by bringing in Pelinka, who is a well-respected agent around the league. He still needs to divest from his agency, so it could take a couple days before this thing becomes official.

Longtime agent Rob Pelinka has reportedly emerged as a front-runner to become the Lakers' next GM.

Pelinka represented Kobe Bryant during his time in the league, and he has also represented guys like James Harden, Andre Iguodala and Andre Drummond to name a few. That being said, Pelinka is the president and CEO of Landmark Sports Agency, and for the Lakers to bring him on as their new GM he'd need to divest from his agency which is not a process that can happen overnight. As for the trade front with Magic in charge, he said he's already been in contact with five GMs and that he'll be handling the Lakers trade inquiries as the trade deadline approaches.

The Lakers have named Earvin "Magic" Johnson President of Basketball Operations.

The team also announced that GM Mitch Kupchak has been relieved of his duties and that Jim Buss will no longer hold his role as Lakers Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations. It's obviously a major shakeup within the Lakers organization. The press release quotes Jeanie Buss as declaring: "Our search for a new General Manager to work with Earvin and Coach Luke Walton is well underway and we hope to announce a new General Manager in short order."

Magic Johnson wants Kobe Bryant to be a part of the Lakers' front office.

"First call I make if I’m in charge? Kobe Bryant," Johnson said Tuesday on ESPN’s "First Take." "Because Kobe understands winning. He understands, also, these players. So I would call, ‘What role you want? If you’ve got a day, just give me that day. I’ll take that. Whatever time he has, I want him to come and be a part of it." Johnson is currently serving in an advisory role with the Lakers, but there's been some speculation that he may take over as GM if Mitch Kupchak is fired.

Magic Johnson said he believes the Lakers can turn things around in 3-5 years.

"It’s going to take three to five years to get them back rolling again," Johnson said. "If we’re patient and we develop our own players." Johnson now holds an advisory role with the Lakers, and some speculate that Magic's return to the front office could queue the end for GM Mitch Kupchak and executive VP Jim Buss' tenure with the franchise.

Magic Johnson will no longer be listed in Lakers staff directory as an honorary vice president.

The team said that the change is to clarify any confusion over Johnson's representation with the team. The Hall of Famer has been a little more vocal about other teams on his Twitter account and other mediums, so that's the reasoning here.

Magic Johnson now appears to be interested in buying the Los Angeles Clippers.

He said initially he wasn't interested, as they "already have an owner," but he seems to have changed his tune. "I will be owning an NBA team sometime," Johnson said Wednesday. "Is the Clippers the right situation? Of course. It’s one of the premiere franchises." Johnson would theoretically be part of an ownership group if it were to happen, and it looks like a great fit for both Magic and the team. Stay tuned.

Magic Johnson tweeted on Monday that he is not interested in buying the Clippers, contrary to a report from Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

"To NBA Fans, I want to put a stop to a rumor. I am not trying to buy the Clippers, they already have an owner." Any number of things could have happened between Woj's report and Magic's tweet, but for whatever reason Magic is distancing himself from the report. Adam Silver is set to speak on the Donald Sterling issue on Tuesday.
