The Suns are expected to waive John Salmons.
Salmons poor shooting percentages and limited contributions to the stat sheet have made him a negligible option in standard leagues for roughly the past four years, and while he may be able to sign on with another team as an emergency-depth kind of guy, he's not making a blip on the fantasy radar in any league. Updating a previous report, John Salmons has been sent to Phoenix as a part of the Norris Cole trade.

Salmons is going to be fighting for minutes behind Gerald Green and Marcus Thornton, and with season averages of 2.0 points on 33.3 percent shooting from the field, he's very unlikely to suddenly emerge as an asset in any league. Leave him on the wire.

John Salmons has reportedly been traded to the Miami Heat for Norris Cole.

Salmons hasn't done much this year with averages of 2.0 points and not much else on 33.3 percent shooting from the field. He'll be a name to watch in daily leagues if head coach Erik Spoelstra ever decides to give him a spot-start when Dwyane Wade misses a game, but he's unlikely to have any value in standard leagues.

John Salmons (personal) upgraded to probable for Friday's game against Houston but did not play due to coach's decision.

Coming in with averages of 2.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game, and not a single game with double-digit scoring this season, Salmons remains a negligible option in all leagues. We're moving him off the injury report.

John Salmons (personal) will not play on Wednesday against the Spurs.

He was back in the rotation and was playing minutes in the teens, but he didn't even take a single shot in his 13 minutes on Saturday. Dante Cunningham will likely pick up a few extra minutes while Salmons is out.

John Salmons (personal) will miss Tuesday's game against the Suns.

There is much of a ripple effect for fantasy owners here as Salmons shouldn't be owned in even the deepest of leagues, but we should see more of Luke Babbitt, Austin Rivers, and Russ Smith on in Salmon's absence on Tuesday.

John Salmons (personal) has returned from the birth of his child and will play on Saturday.

He won't see enough minutes to warrant your attention in most fantasy leagues as long as Tyreke Evans is healthy. You can leave Salmons on the waiver wire for now.

John Salmons (personal) will not play on Monday night.

He is with his wife for the birth of their child. Salmons is barely seeing double-digit minutes and has no fantasy value. Russ Smith is active in his place.

In his Pelicans debut, John Salmons came off the bench for two rebounds and one assist in 10 minutes, without attempting a single field goal or free throw.

New Orleans' rotation isn't set in stone and the SF position is particularly unsteady -- Tyreke Evans is slightly undersized as a starting SF and coach Monty Williams isn't sure whether Salmons, Darius Miller or Luke Babbitt will serve as Evans' primary backup. Salmons shot 36.3 percent last year, and tonight's dud nicely sums up his lack of fantasy value.

John Salmons is listed as the starter at small forward for the Pelicans on Saturday.

He's competing with Luke Babbitt and Darius Miller, so he looks to have the upper hand right now. While starting gets a lot of fanfare, Salmons is still not worth drafting in almost any league.

John Salmons appears to be in the running to start at small forward for the Pelicans, but several things would have to take place to make it happen.

First of all, this assumes that Eric Gordon comes off the bench and Tyreke Evans starts at shooting guard, and not small forward. The Hornets can say anything they want, but it's clear that Gordon and Evans seem to make the most sense as starters on the wings. If Gordon does come off the bench and Evans starts at SG, Evans would have to beat out Darius Miller and Luke Babbitt for the job. Our guess is that Gordon and Evans will both start and the other three guys will come off the bench. But if Salmons does somehow win a starting job, he'll be worth keeping a close eye on early in the season.

John Salmons has officially signed his contract with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Salmons' contract is for $2 million, according to Eric Pincus of He will join the Pelicans' rotation as a role player, but could see more minutes if (when) Eric Gordon goes down with an injury. Salmons may eventually return some fantasy value in extremely deep leagues, but most fantasy owners can bypass the 34-year-old on draft day.

ESPN is reporting that John Salmons will sign with the Pelicans.

He's not expected to see major minutes, that could quickly change as soon as Eric Gordon gets hurt. The Raptors recently traded Salmons to the Hawks, who cut him in order to clear as much cap space as possible, even though there's not much left to pick from in the free agency pool.

The Atlanta Hawks will officially waive John Salmons on Thursday.

The Hawks had been waiting for the free agency period to officially start before waiving the newly-acquired Salmons. Now that the free agency period has officially begun, the Hawks will quickly cut ties with Salmons and buy out his $1 million contract.
Thu, Jul 10, 2014 11:08:00 AM

The Hawks won't be releasing John Salmons on Monday before the free agent period starts.

The plan is to extend the deadline between the two sides to July 10, and this may be among the most uneventful news of the night.
