John Salmons scored 22 points with three boards, three assists and two 3-pointers on 7-of-10 from the field in Wednesday's win over the Hornets.
Salmons was on fire from beyond the arc in February, making 49.0 percent from that range, but he's fallen off severely since then. He shot 34.3 percent from the field in March and he scored just five points combined in his previous three April games. Salmons can be left on the wire in most formats. Apr 11 - 1:07 AM

Date:

John Salmons shot 0-of-4 from the field and went scoreless in 39 minutes on Wednesday, as the Kings fell to the visiting Rockets.

He did have five assists vs. zero turnovers, but that's small recompense for his infinite lack of scoring. Games like this should not surprise anyone in Week 23.
Apr 4 - 12:52 AM

John Salmons scored 18 points in Saturday's road loss in Denver, making 7-of-12 shots with four 3-pointers, three rebounds, two assists and one block.

Salmons averaged 4.0 points during a five-game span in mid-March, which makes it hard to appreciate his decent play in the past week. Keith Smart has an inexplicable affinity for Salmons, who averages more minutes (30) than everyone but Tyreke and DeMarcus, but fantasy owners should stock up on Dramamine before picking him up.
Mar 24 - 12:43 AM

John Salmons had three points and five assists in Sunday's road loss, marking his fifth straight game in single-digits.

Salmons' PER rating this season is 10.9, which ranks him just ahead of Gary Neal, Michael Beasley and Marvin Williams. He's still playing 30+ minutes as the Kings' starting SF, though, and Keith Smart shows no signs of changing course.

John Salmons struggled again on Friday, hitting just 1-of-5 shots for two points, three rebounds and five assists in 23 minutes.

Salmons went on a tear last week setting the stage for a very predictable regression. In a 12-14 team format, owners can do better.
Mar 9 - 3:41 AM

Unlike teammates DeMarcus Cousins and Isaiah Thomas, John Salmons got plenty of playing time on Wednesday night, but just couldn't get anything going, hitting 2-of-9 shots and a 3-pointer for five points, three boards and four assists in 38 minutes.

This is not the line his owners were looking for, but it's hard to argue with all the minutes and opportunity he got tonight. He's had some big games recently, and as long as the minutes stay consistent, he will have more big nights going forward. But the reality is, that regardless of the minutes he gets, he's simply an inconsistent performer.
Mar 7 - 1:50 AM

John Salmons hit 4-of-9 shots and three 3-pointers for 11 points, four rebounds and two assists in Tuesday's loss.

Salmons went on a recent tear when he scored 18, 15 and 21 points in three straight games, but has now gone for 3, 22 and 11 in his three games since. As long as he's starting he's worth a look in all leagues, but owners have to prepare themselves mentally for the inconsistency that will come with owning him.
Mar 6 - 12:55 AM

John Salmons made 6-of-13 field goals, including five 3-pointers, and he finished Sunday's victory with a team-high 22 points in 30 minutes.

The Kings fans were so riled up tonight that they gave Salmons a standing ovation when he checked out of the game in the fourth quarter. He was 5-of-5 from the FT line, with three rebounds, two assists and two steals, but it's impossible to guess when he'll explode and when he'll fizzle. He was coming off a game with three points and one rebound, but with four games next week he should still average low-end value.
Mar 3 - 9:13 PM

John Salmons hit just 1-of-7 shots in Friday's blowout loss to the Spurs, scoring three points with one rebound, one assist, and two steals in 21 minutes.

Salmons was hitting shots at an unsustainable rate and tonight was the market correction. It makes absolutely zero sense that Salmons is getting minutes on a team needing development, so owners may actually want to bank on him getting sustained playing time in the backwards world of Maloof Sports and Entertainment.
Mar 2 - 1:30 AM

John Salmons hit 7-of-9 shots and four more 3-pointers for 21 points and five assists as the Kings blew out the Magic in Orlando on Wednesday.

Salmons is officially hot, scoring 18, 15 and 21 points in each of his last three games with plenty of rebounds, assists and blocks, and hitting 13 3-pointers over that stretch. He was quoted recently complaining about his role, but we don't see anything for him to complain about after these three games. He's worth a pickup now that he's so hot, and as long as he's starting, there's no reason he can't keep this going.
Feb 27 - 11:03 PM

John Salmons is not currently happy with his role on the Kings.

It seems like a pretty odd time to complain about his role. "No, it’s not cool,’’ he said. "But I’m just trying to help the team win. I’m not going to be a distraction or complain about it." Keith Smart can't be happy with his veteran's comments on a team that sorely needs leadership. Salmons is averaging 16.5 points, four rebounds, five assists, 1.5 blocks and an eye-popping 4.5 threes over his last two games, playing nearly 87 minutes combined. Like we said, it seems like a weird time to complain about his role.
Feb 27 - 11:39 AM

John Salmons had 15 points, five rebounds, seven assists, a steal, two blocks and three 3-pointers in 50 minutes of Tuesday's double-OT loss to the Heat.

Salmons is officially hot after going for 18 points and six 3-pointers on Sunday, and with Francisco Garcia now out of the way, Salmons might be a nice pickup for the remainder of the season.
Feb 26 - 11:20 PM

John Salmons drained a career-high six 3-pointers on his way to 18 points in Sunday's loss in New Orleans.

He added three rebounds, three assists and a block in 37 minutes of action, his highest playing time in over a month. The Kings have now lost five straight games, during which they're allowing an unholy 113.4 points per game, and Keith Smart said after Friday's game that Sacramento would have won "if we even gave half of a defensive effort." DeMarcus Cousins also chimed in, turning conventional basketball wisdom on its head by saying, "I do believe our offense carries our defense." No matter how you parse it, the Kings have the fifth-worst record in the league.
Feb 24 - 9:08 PM

John Salmons shot 6-of-14 from the field and made all seven free throws in a win over the Rockets, scoring 23 points with one rebound, six assists, two steals and four 3-pointers on Sunday.

He hit a huge corner triple which put the Kings up for good and his defense has been improved over the past few games. Salmons is a little too inconsistent for standard leagues -- he's playing 29 minutes per game in February, but came in averaging 4.5 points on 21.9 percent shooting.
Feb 11 - 12:27 AM

John Salmons (illness) returned to action on Friday, scoring two points on 1-of-7 shooting with three rebounds, three assists, and a steal in 33 minutes.

It totally makes sense for a bottom-barrel team facing relocation threats to play the ineffective 33-year old Salmons at the expense of younger talent. And by 'makes sense' we mean an apparent attempt to drive Kings fans further into depression.
