Juan Carlos Navarro missed Tuesday's game against Australia with a new case of plantar fasciitis.
JCN no longer plays in the NBA but is a key member and captain of Spain's Olympic team, and has been dealing with plantar fasciitis for much of his career. With Spain and Team USA expected to eventually meet in the finals for a shot at a gold medal, Spain is hoping he is able to recover from the injury soon, but his coach says the injury appears to be serious and he doesn't know how many games he will miss. If he's out against the United States (assuming they both make it to the finals), the Americans should have a better chance of winning the game. Wed, Aug 1, 2012 12:45:00 AM

Juan Carlos Navarro has agreed to a contract extension with FC Barcelona Regal through the 2014-15 season.

La Bomba put on a show at the Eurobasket tournament, but after a brief NBA career, Navarro decided that he would rather continue his career in Europe. After signing the extension, it's unlikely we'll see him stateside again any time soon.

Juan Carlos Navarro scored 35 points on Friday to help Spain defeat Macedonia and advance to the EuroBasket finals.

Navarro poured in 19 points during the third quarter alone, helping to stave off an upset by the spirited Macedonians (led by Bo McCalebb, who scored 25). Pau Gasol added 22 points, and Spain moves on to face the winner of Russia vs. France.

Spain defeated Greece in a close game on Saturday, fueled by a sticky zone defense and Juan Carlos Navarro's 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting.

Greece couldn't solve the zone in the final 13 minutes -- they relied on outside shooting but were just 3-of-12 from downtown in the quarter. The victory advances Spain to the quarterfinals.

The Grizzlies have withdrawn their qualifying offer to guard Juan Carlos Navarro.

That makes him an unrestricted free agent, although it's not likely that he'll return to the NBA any time soon. The move was made to free up salary cap space on the day the team will introduce Allen Iverson.

Grizzlies' shooting guard Juan Carlos Navarro has decided to re-sign with FC Barcelona, ending his NBA career for now.

Navarro, who earned $538,000 with the Grizzlies last season, will earn between $20 million and $24 million over the next four years in Spain. Memphis will miss his outside shooting, but they also had a bit of a traffic jam at his position. They're still on the hook for a first-round draft pick they traded to the Wizards to acquire his rights, which is protected through the 19th pick this year. J-C-N is G-O-N-E.

Juan Carlos Navarro left for Spain on Thursday afternoon, less than 24 hours after the Grizzlies played their regular-season finale. When asked if he would return next season, he shrugged his shoulders.

Navarro's NBA career started out with some bad vibes in Memphis, so you can't blame him for not clamoring to return. Check back to see how this develops over the summer.

Grizzlies guard Juan Carlos Navarro scored 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting in Saturday's game -- six of his field goals were 3-pointers.

We know Navarro can fill up the offensive columns on any given night, but have yet to see any consistency from the young sharp-shooter. Hakim Warrick (12 points, five rebounds) started again, but the two are likely to exchange roles a few more times before the season is over.

Juan Carlos Navarro is back in the Memphis starting lineup tonight.

The Grizzlies moved guard Kyle Lowry and forward Hakim Warrick back to the bench, opting to pair Navarro with Mike Conley tonight. All four should receive substantial playing time, although Lowry almost certainly will not get the 43 minutes he had on Saturday.

Juan Carlos Navarro hit 5-of-13 shots and four treys for 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench in Wednesday's loss.

If you pick him up, he'll score a total of 16 points in his next five games. Perhaps no player has been as inconsistent this season as JCN, so just ignore him for now.

Juan Carlos Navarro wants to sign a long-term contract this off-season, preferably with the Grizzlies.

The 27-year-old Spanish rookie will be a restricted free agent, and Memphis coach Marc Iavaroni sounds like he wants Navarro's shooting ability around. Navarro has averaged nearly two made 3-pointers a game this year, and he has been starting since February 20 in the absence of Mike Miller (back).
Tue, Mar 4, 2008 01:38:00 AM

Juan Carlos Navarro hit 7-of-18 shots, six of them threes, to finish with 23 points and five assists in Tuesday's loss.

He might take a hit when Mike Miller returns, and has been impossible to predict from night to night. He's hit double digits in four of his last five games, but failed to even score two games ago. He's worth owning in most leagues, but he hasn't been very trustworthy.
Tue, Feb 26, 2008 11:57:00 PM

Juan Carlos Navarro backed up Wednesday's 16-point game by failing to hit a shot or score in 21 minutes on Friday.

Regardless of whether he's getting minutes or not, JCN is pretty inconsistent. Like most of his teammates, he's probably worth owning, but it's very tough to predict when he'll be a safe fantasy play.
Sat, Feb 23, 2008 12:27:00 AM

Juan Carlos Navarro had 16 points and two threes on 6-of-15 shooting in Tuesday's loss.

He probably got some extra minutes due to Mike Miller's back spasms that caused him to leave early. If the Grizzlies trade Miller, Navarro should be a hot pickup. But his production and minutes have been excruciatingly inconsistent this season.
Wed, Feb 20, 2008 01:25:00 AM

Juan Carlos Navarro hit 6-of-13 shots and two threes for 19 points and six rebounds in a tough win over the Kings on Tuesday.

JCN has been awful lately, struggling to find his niche in Marc Iavaroni's ever-changing rotation. Whatever coach had in mind tonight, it worked, as six Grizzlies hit double figures in scoring and the team avoided a seven-game losing streak. Outside of Rudy Gay and Mike Miller, you're rolling the dice on rest of the team. But maybe tonight will be the start of some consistency in Memphis. Keep your eye on all of them.
