Matt Barnes played just 18 minutes vs. the Grizzlies on Friday with eight points on 3-of-9 shooting.
He didn't make the most of this "revenge game" opportunity with just two assists, one rebound and one triple in 18 minutes. We're still expecting his minutes to trend up with Rudy Gay (Achilles) out for the season, but he's not an exciting add by any means. Garrett Temple had 14 points in 33 minutes and looks like the better add right now. Jan 20 - 11:32 PM

Matt Barnes scored seven points with four rebounds, four assists and one 3-pointer in 20 minutes against the Pacers on Wednesday.

He's looking at a major bump in playing time. In the window when Rudy Gay (Achilles) missed the second half of December and early January, Barnes averaged 8.7 points, 4.7 boards, 2.6 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.3 blocks and 1.6 treys. That wasn't worth using in standard leagues at that time, so he's more of a borderline add for owners looking for something new.

Matt Barnes will rest on Tuesday vs. Detroit.

Barnes' minutes have been trending down with Rudy Gay back anyways, so he shouldn't be on most fantasy rosters. Look for Arron Afflalo and Omri Casspi to pick up a few extra minutes tonight.
Jan 10 - 8:54 PM

Matt Barnes went scoreless off the Kings' bench on Sunday, missing all four of his shots while adding three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 18 minutes.

Barnes started on Friday but the Kings rotation is incredibly (and annoyingly) unstable this season, so his benching was no surprise. The Kings have used 10 different starting lineups this season, but no matter who is starting it's hard to trust Barnes outside of very deep leagues.
Jan 9 - 12:54 AM

Matt Barnes scored four points with six rebounds, six assists and one 3-pointer in 24 minutes against the Clippers on Friday.

He did not close this game out with the Kings going with Rudy Gay and Garrett Temple at the forward spots. Barnes loses a lot of his appeal with Gay back in the lineup, but Barnes is still worth a look in some fantasy leagues.
Jan 7 - 12:57 AM

Matt Barnes scored 20 points with eight rebounds, three assists, five 3-pointers and one turnovers in 33 minutes against the Grizzlies on Saturday.

Revenge game? Coach Dave Joerger doesn't want to play Omri Casspi, so Barnes appears to have a lengthy lead for the small forward starting job until Rudy Gay (hip) gets back. Considering we don't know much about Rudy Gay, Barnes is worth a look in standard leagues.

Matt Barnes started in place of Rudy Gay (hip) on Wednesday vs. the Blazers and scored 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting with five rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and one triple in 29 minutes.

Barnes can produce the money stats in 3-pointers, steals and blocks, but coach Dave Joerger keeps saying that he wants to limit his minutes and it's worth noting that Gay is day-to-day. He will have the chance to get some revenge against the Grizzlies on Friday, so he will be a low-end streaming option if Gay misses another game.

Matt Barnes will start in place of Rudy Gay (hip) on Wednesday vs. the Blazers.

Gay is day-to-day, but the Kings probably want to be cautious with one of their best trade chips. Coach Dave Joerger recently said he wants to keep Barnes' minutes down, so he's not a great pickup. Expect Garrett Temple and Omri Casspi to benefit from Gay's absence as well.

Once the Kings finally have their frontcourt healthy, coach Dave Joerger said he plans to limit Matt Barnes' minutes.

Barnes is 36 years old, which makes him the oldest player on the Kings. Barnes sat out two games earlier this season to rest but has been forced to start with Rudy Gay (hip) and Omri Casspi (illness) sidelined. Casspi returned on Friday and Gay is expected back next week, so Barnes should see a few 'DNP-rest' games in his future. Barnes should not be owned in standard fantasy leagues.

Matt Barnes scored 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting Friday, to go with five boards, five assists, two 3-pointers and three turnovers in 32 minutes.

Barnes’ has been starting with Rudy Gay (hip) and Omri Casspi (illness) on the sidelines, but that really hasn’t changed his minutes or output much at all. He’s only averaging 25.1 minutes per game on the year and ranks well outside the top-150 in standard leagues, so he belongs on the waiver wire just about everywhere.
Fri, Dec 23, 2016 11:28:00 PM

Matt Barnes earned another start for the short-handed Kings on Wednesday, scoring eight points on 3-of-7 shooting with two 3-pointers, three rebounds, one assist and one block.

Rudy Gay (hip) and Omri Casspi (illness) were both out tonight, but this was the best the veteran forward could muster. He's been dreadfully inefficient this season at a career-worst 35.4 percent from the field, and still has unresolved legal issues in the background, and there's no reason to touch him in standard leagues.
Thu, Dec 22, 2016 12:17:00 AM

Matt Barnes is listed as a starter again on Wednesday with both Rudy Gay (hip) and Omri Casspi (illness) out of commission.

Barnes is shooting 26.4 percent in his past 10 games, and he's at an abysmal 23.5 percent in five starts this season. With a matchup vs. the Jazz tonight, there are multiple reasons to be leery of him for fantasy purposes. He'll be joined in the starting five by Darren Collison, Ben McLemore, DeMarcus Cousins and Kost Koufos.
Wed, Dec 21, 2016 08:24:00 PM

Matt Barnes moved into the starting lineup on Tuesday vs. the Blazers, but played just 19 minutes with two points (0-of-4 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs), four rebounds, four assists and one turnover.

It sounds like the Kings will be getting Rudy Gay (hip) back from injury Wednesday and Omri Casspi (illness) has earned himself a nice role when he's able to return, so Barnes belongs on the wire in most cases until he gives us a reason to pick him back up.
Wed, Dec 21, 2016 01:40:00 AM

Matt Barnes will start on Tuesday vs. the Blazers, sending Garrett Temple back to the bench.

What? Why? Garrett Temple has been one of their most consistent players lately, but we still think he will get a decent chunk of minutes against the Blazers with both Rudy Gay (hip) and Omri Casspi (illness) out. Barnes has some decent upside for his steals, blocks and triples, but off-court issues and maintenance days have slowed him down.
Tue, Dec 20, 2016 10:32:00 PM

Matt Barnes came off the bench with nine points, three 3-pointers, two boards, one assist and one steal in 21 minutes vs. the Rockets on Wednesday.

Barnes was a healthy DNP-CD on Monday and it's hard to roster him in standard formats at the moment. He's been inconsistent all season and now he has a cloud of legal problems following him around. Most owners should leave him on the wire.
