Matt Barnes missed all nine of his shots from the field against the Nuggets on Saturday with five rebounds, two assists and three turnovers.
He's had better games, but nobody else is stepping up. Barnes should be locked in as the starting small forward and will have some decent fantasy value. Oct 19 - 1:33 AM

In an effort to become healthier and more flexible, Matt Barnes added yoga classes to his summer workout regimen.

"I'm still not as flexible as I'd like to be and it's something I continue to work on," he said, "but I just knew that I couldn't miss as much time as I did last year." Barnes also added that he lost 18 pounds over the offseason and is the lightest he's been since high school. The 34-year-old will have to beat out Reggie Bullock and Chris Douglas-Roberts for the Clippers starting SF spot, but he's still worth a late-round pick in fantasy drafts.
Oct 16 - 9:18 AM

Matt Barnes was held to three points in 26 minutes off the bench as the Clippers fell 114-119 in Portland on Sunday.

Don't let tonight's 1-of-7 shooting line fool you -- he shot 43.8 percent last year despite taking the bulk of his shots from downtown, and he averaged a solid 1.5 three-pointers and 0.9 steals per game. Barnes isn't guaranteed the starting SF job but he's the definitive favorite, and has enough versatility to be an attractive late-round fantasy pick.
Oct 12 - 11:52 PM

Doc Rivers was non-committal when asked who would start at SF for the Clippers.

Barnes started last year after beating out Jared Dudley, but should face much stiffer competition this season. He will have to beat out an improving Reggie Bullock and new acquisition Chris Douglas-Roberts to earn the starting role. This is enough to scare some owners away but we still recommend Barnes as a sneaky late-round target in standard formats. It should also be noted that Barnes was listed as the starting SF in the game's notes.
Oct 11 - 4:31 PM

Matt Barnes started at SF in Tuesday's exhibition defeat, scoring four points with two rebounds, one steal and five personal fouls in 21 minutes.

Fantasy owners should fixate on just one number here, which is minutes-played. Barnes was one of eight Clippers' players to top 20 minutes, joining Chris Paul, J.J. Redick, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, as well as backups Jamal Crawford and Jordan Farmar. He's healthy and favored to earn a starting job, making him a reliable late-round target at SF.
Oct 8 - 2:12 AM

Matt Barnes said that practicing yoga this summer helped trim his weight to 210 pounds.

"I haven't weighed 210 pounds since the 10th or 11th grade," Barnes said. He said that he's 100 percent healthy and far more flexible that he's ever been, so hopefully he'll make it through more than the 63 games he played in last season. The starting SF job is his to lose, making him a sneaky late-round pick with upside.

Oct 7 - 6:23 PM

Matt Barnes said he's at his lightest playing weight of his career.

He's been doing yoga and has changed his diet to drop about 20 pounds this offseason. Barnes was fantastic after the break and turned in top-50 value in fantasy leagues during that span. The Clippers hope to have J.J. Redick and Jamal Crawford stay healthy, so Barnes probably won't be as great as he was down the stretch. However, he's still a nice option late in most drafts.
Sep 29 - 7:27 PM

The Clippers are considering packaging forward Matt Barnes and the 28th overall pick for either Iman Shumpert, Tony Allen, or Gerald Green.

It is clear the Clippers are trying to upgrade on the wings with this trade, and moving Barnes may be a step in the right direction. The Clippers tried to trade for Shumpert at the deadline this past season, and both Tony Allen and Gerald Green both played for Doc Rivers during his time in Boston.
Jun 26 - 6:17 PM

Matt Barnes went scoreless during Sunday's Game 4 win over the visiting Thunder, shooting 0-of-6 from the field with two rebounds and three assists in 21 minutes.

Danny Granger was also scoreless in 14 minutes off the bench and neither Jared Dudley (DNP-CD) nor Hedo Turkoglu (back) stepped foot on the court, but L.A. was able to overcome their utter lack of production from the SF position thanks to clutch performances from Chris Paul, Jamal Crawford and Darren Collison.
May 11 - 6:40 PM

Matt Barnes scored 10 points in 28 minutes of action during the Clippers' Game 1 romp in Oklahoma City on Monday.

He jammed his big toe during the first round of the playoffs but it doesn't seem to have impacted his play, and his 28.9 minutes per game in the postseason ranks fourth-highest on the Clippers, ahead of J.J. Redick, Jamal Crawford and Darren Collison.
May 6 - 5:05 PM

Matt Barnes suffered a jammed left big toe on Thursday and was able to return, finishing with no points, three boards, two assists and four steals.

After sustaining the injury, he was on the bench in serious pain while the training staff was adjusting his toe. Barnes isn't having a great series against one of his teams, averaging 5.0 points, 2.7 boards and 2.0 assists in three games. He will likely miss some practice time and should be considered questionable for Game 4.
Apr 25 - 2:05 AM

Matt Barnes (illness) will start against the Thunder on Wednesday.

He has strep throat and missed Tuesday's practice. Barnes has really come on strong since the break, averaging 13.8 points, 5.1 boards, 1.2 steals, 0.6 blocks and 2.3 triples. Those are must-start numbers in standard formats.
Apr 9 - 9:17 PM

Matt Barnes missed Tuesday's practice with an illness.

That's all we know for now, which will leave him questionable for Wednesday's game against the Thunder. We should know more about his status tomorrow afternoon.
Apr 8 - 1:58 PM

Matt Barnes scored 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting (including three treys) with six rebounds, three assists and two steals in Monday's win.

Barnes is on autopilot right now as the healthiest and most productive wing the Clippers have going. It would be relatively surprising to see him fall off before the season's end, but if it's going to happen it's going to take Jamal Crawford (calf) and J.J. Redick (back) returning at the same time with sexy results.
Apr 1 - 1:14 AM

Matt Barnes played 38 minutes vs. the Rockets on Saturday, scoring 15 points with 10 boards, two assists, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers.

Coach Doc Rivers used him as a stretch four quite a bit tonight and he'll be a part of the solution should the Clippers be without Blake Griffin (back) at all. Barnes has already been worth owning in standard leagues, so tonight's developments put him in must-own territory.
