Matt Barnes scored five points with two rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 28 minutes against the Blazers on Monday.
If Jeff Green gets big minutes at power forward, that should open up some minutes for Barnes at the three. He's not going to put up eye-popping stat lines, but Green's across-the-board output makes him someone worth owning in all standard leagues. Feb 9 - 12:19 AM

Matt Barnes posted a double-double on Saturday vs. the Mavericks, scoring 17 points with 11 rebounds, five assists, one block and five 3-pointers in 36 minutes.

Wow. He just returned from a hamstring injury on Friday vs. the Knicks, so the fact that he was able to log 36 minutes in the overtime loss is a really good sign. Barnes is still flirting with top-80 value on the season, so he needs to be owned in standard leagues after a performance like this one.
Feb 6 - 11:42 PM

Matt Barnes (hamstring) returned during a 91-85 win over the Knicks on Friday with 12 points, seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and two 3-pointers.

It was his first game at MSG since the Derek Fisher drama. In true Barnes fashion, he did some warming up on the Knicks side of the court before the game -- this was before other Knicks came out. Barnes should be able to flirt with top-100 value with his fantasy-friendly game.
Feb 6 - 12:29 AM

Matt Barnes (hamstring) will play against the Knicks on Friday.

"We should be fully loaded," coach Dave Joerger said. Yes, this means he gets his first game at MSG since the Derek Fisher drama. Barnes is still a hold in standard leagues, but he's lost some value with Jeff Green tearing it up.
Feb 5 - 6:09 PM

Matt Barnes (hamstring) remains questionable for Friday's game vs. the Knicks.

Given his history with Knicks head coach Derek Fisher, Barnes will do everything in his power to play tonight. He did go through the morning shootaround, so it sounds like he could be a game-time call. If he misses another game, Jeff Green and Tony Allen would benefit the most.
Feb 5 - 12:21 PM

Matt Barnes (right hamstring) is being listed as questionable for Friday's game vs. the Knicks.

Matt Barnes sat out Monday's matchup with New Orleans, and given the tricky nature of hamstring injuries, it wouldn't be shocking to see him miss Friday's contest as well. Jeff Green, Tony Allen and Vince Carter will see an uptick in minutes if Barnes is out, with Green offering the most upside.
Feb 4 - 3:21 PM

Matt Barnes (right hamstring) will not play against the Pelicans on Monday.

This injury popped up out of nowhere and it's unknown how much time he'll miss. With Barnes out, there should be more run for for Jeff Green, Courtney Lee and Tony Allen. Keep Barnes benched for now.
Feb 1 - 7:46 PM

Matt Barnes (hamstring) is a game-time call against the Pelicans on Monday, but is closer to doubtful.

Barnes' hamstring issue is new, but he's dealt with this problem before. If Barnes can't go, that means there will be more minutes for Courtney Lee, Jeff Green and Tony Allen.
Feb 1 - 6:36 PM

Matt Barnes missed all seven of his shots from the field on Saturday vs. the Kings and failed to score in 22 minutes.

Yikes. The good news is that Barnes salvaged his line with three boards, two assists, two steals and two blocks, so it's hard to drop a player with that kind of upside after one bad performance. He had five fouls which explains the low minutes, but we would like him better if the Grizzlies went back to their small-ball lineup. Barnes had 13 points, four boards, two assists, one steal, two blocks and four 3-pointers in his previous game, so it makes sense to give him another chance.
Jan 30 - 11:58 PM

Matt Barnes bounced back on Thursday vs. the Bucks with 13 points, four boards, two assists, one steal, two blocks and four 3-pointers in 25 minutes.

That's more like it. Barnes posted a two-point dud vs. the Magic on Monday, but he was back to his usual tricks on Thursday. Barnes has the green light from deep and will provide his owners with plenty of 3-pointers, steals and a trickle of blocks, so he needs to be owned in standard leagues.
Jan 29 - 12:15 AM

Matt Barnes scored two points with five rebounds and two assists in 18 minutes against the Magic on Monday.

Jeff Green was hot, Tony Allen played well and Courtney Lee was in a nice rhythm, so it was Barnes missing out. Expect him to improve very soon and keep him owned in standard leagues.
Jan 25 - 11:57 PM

Matt Barnes will come off the bench on Monday vs. the Magic.

Tony Allen (hamstring, knee) will return to the starting lineup, but coach Dave Joerger has been shuffling his lineup all season. We would like Barnes a lot better if he was a permanent starter, but he should still do enough to help owners in standard leagues.
Jan 25 - 7:52 PM

Matt Barnes made another start on Saturday against the Wolves with 13 points, three rebounds, five assists, one steal and three 3-pointers in 37 minutes.

The last time Tony Allen (hamstring, knee) missed time, Barnes was putting up early-round value in the starting lineup. Barnes shouldn't be sitting on any wires and has fourth-round value in his last seven.
Jan 23 - 10:50 PM

Matt Barnes scores seven points in a start for Tony Allen (hamstring, knee) on Thursday against the Nuggets, adding seven rebounds, five assists, three steals, one block and one 3-pointer.

While this wasn't a great scoring game, the high minutes are very encouraging for Barnes along with a well-rounded stat line. The Grindfather has dealt with a hamstring issue for most of the season, so expect him to miss games going forward. Barnes should be owned in standard leagues.
Jan 22 - 12:30 AM

Matt Barnes scored 16 points with three rebounds, one assist and two 3-pointers in 28 minutes against the Pelicans on Monday.

On the non-basketball side of things, Barnes is up to almost $100K for Derek Fisher-related news this year. Barnes has played better lately with minutes in the mid 20s, which should be enough for him to post value around 100 in standard leagues. His fantasy owners will probably be hoping he keeps his mouth shut to avoid a suspension.
