Matt Barnes did not score against the Bucks on Saturday with five rebounds and four assists.
He had 16 points on Friday and went the other way tonight. Barnes was putting up No. 65 fantasy value over the past two weeks, so there is enough upside to cut him some slack unless it's to grab a hot free agent. Dec 21 - 1:37 AM

Date:

Matt Barnes bounced back from an off-night to score 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting (no threes) with four rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 35 minutes on Friday against the Nuggets.

Barnes has been a solid mid-round value lately and he should remain in all lineups. J.J. Redick scored just eight points with one trey, two boards and two assists, but he has been serviceable lately and owners might want to give him at least one night of slack.
Dec 20 - 2:18 AM

Matt Barnes hit just 1-of-3 shots for three points, two rebounds, four assists and a block in 31 minutes on Wednesday.

He came in sort of hot, but never got it going tonight. He's been playing much better over the last two weeks, so we fully expect him to bounce back in his next game.
Dec 18 - 2:49 AM

Matt Barnes scored 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting (including three triples) with two rebounds, three assists and one steal over 24 minutes in Monday's blowout win over the Pistons.

Barnes is on a roll with top-50 value over the last two weeks, averaging 14.5 points with 2.2 treys, 1.7 combined steals and blocks, 53.2 percent field goal shooting and 88.9 percent shooting from the line. Pick him up in all standard formats and hope he doesn't faceplant.
Dec 16 - 2:56 AM

Matt Barnes was fined $25,000 in Friday's loss to the Wizards after he kicked a water bottle into the stands and used profane language to the fans.

This has become very typical for Barnes, as he loves playing the villain role in the NBA. If anything, this incident must have a lit a fire under him considering he responded with his best game of the season on Saturday, scoring a season-high 26 points with one board, two steals, one block and six 3-pointers. If you are in need of a player, Barnes is worth a look as long as he continues to start for the Clippers.
Dec 14 - 9:03 AM

Matt Barnes had his best game of the season on Saturday, scoring a season-high 26 points with one rebound, two steals, one block and six 3-pointers.

He made 10-of-18 from the field and is starting to come on. Over his last five games, Barnes has averages of 14.0 points, 4.0 boards, 1.0 steals and 2.4 triples. Fantasy owners in standard leagues could use those numbers and he was a top-40 guy after the break last year, so there is some incentive to picking him up.
Dec 13 - 10:29 PM

Matt Barnes hit 4-of-8 shots and a 3-pointer for 11 points, five rebounds, an assist and a block in Wednesday's win.

He's starting, getting minutes, has scored in double figures in three of his last five games, and is averaging 11.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.6 steals, 0.6 blocks and 1.6 3-pointers over that stretch. He's worth a look if you have some dead weight at the end of your bench.
Dec 10 - 10:11 PM

Matt Barnes hit 4-of-11 shots (no threes) for eight points, four rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in Monday's overtime win over the Suns.

Barnes has rehabilitated his standard league value and has played at a solid mid-round level over the last two weeks, averaging 9.5 points with 1.5 treys, 4.5 boards and a combined 1.4 steals and blocks. Yes, injuries or lackluster play could derail him, but a late-round projection seems to be a bit better than a coin flip.
Dec 9 - 2:30 AM

Matt Barnes had another nice game against the Pelicans on Saturday with 14 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and four 3-pointers.

He is coming off a 17-point game from Wednesday and maybe his two-month slump is coming to an end. Barnes was a top-50 player after the break last season, so fantasy owners will want to keep tabs on him. He's still not quite worthy of a pickup just yet for standard league owners.
Dec 7 - 1:13 AM

Matt Barnes hit 6-of-8 shots and a 3-pointer for a season-high 17 points, five rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block in Wednesday's easy win over the Magic.

He'd scored eight points in his previous two games, so we're far from out of the woods with Barnes. But tonight was a step in the right direction and, as usual, he should be on your radar in case this is the start of a hot streak.
Dec 4 - 2:12 AM

Matt Barnes played 20 minutes in a start on Friday with two points, five rebounds, four assists and one block.

He missed two games in due to a calf strain and the Clippers might ease him back because he's dealt with calf issues before. Barnes can be left on the wire in most leagues.
Nov 29 - 12:57 AM

Matt Barnes (calf) will start against the Rockets on Friday night.

He is coming off a two-game absence due to an aggravation to his calf. The Clippers will probably monitor his minutes, so he's not a fantasy option. Reggie Bullock will move back to a reserve and has no fantasy value.
Nov 28 - 6:42 PM

Matt Barnes will miss Wednesday's game against the Pistons with his calf injury.

Reggie Bullock is running with the starters and should get the start, but there's not much to love about him in fantasyland. Barnes remains day-to-day.
Nov 26 - 12:54 PM

Matt Barnes (calf) will not play against the Hornets on Monday and he could miss a few games.

He's been dealing with a calf issue for about the past week and the Clippers will just sit him down tonight. It'll be second-year swingman Reggie Bullock in the starting lineup, but Jamal Crawford probably benefits most. Barnes is not worth owning in most leagues.
Nov 24 - 5:38 PM

Matt Barnes (sore left calf) looked fine in 19 minutes of action vs. the Grizzlies, contributing nine points on 4-of-6 shooting, one 3-pointer and two rebounds in the Clippers' road loss.

Barnes has reclaimed the starting SF job and is at least worth monitoring in all formats for his under-the-radar contributions -- in the past five games he's averaging 10.0 points on 47.2 percent shooting, with 1.8 threes, 2.2 rebounds and 0.4 steals.
