Darius Songaila recently signed with BC Donetsk in the Ukraine, but his contract includes an 'out-clause' that would enable him to leave for the NBA.
Songaila played in Turkey last season and he may not draw any interest in the U.S., but he's leaving his options open. "I don't want to spend the whole year somewhere in Europe far away from my daughter," he said. Sat, Sep 1, 2012 11:09:00 AM

Darius Songaila has signed with BC Donetsk.

Although Songaila previously said he wanted to return to the NBA, he's much better off continuing his career in Europe.

Darius Songaila scored 11 points for Lithuania vs. Team USA on Saturday, and said afterward that he wants to return to the NBA.

Songaila was born in Russia, he averaged 7.9 points in Turkey last year, he is playing for Lithuania in the Olympics, and he has played 495 games for five different teams during his eight-year NBA career, averaging 6.9 points on 49.9 percent FGs and 84.4 percent FTs. What we don't know is whether any NBA team will give him a veteran's minimum contract.

Darius Songaila has reached an agreement with his Turkish team to part ways.

Songaila signed a $1.5 million contract to play in Turkey back in July, and his agent said at the time that he would've stayed in the NBA had it not been for the lockout. He may draw some interest from teams looking for help down low, but he's highly unlikely to garner any fantasy value in standard sized leagues.

Sixers free agent forward Darius Songaila has agreed to a $1.5 million, one-year deal with Turkey Galatasaray, according to agent Mark Bartelstien.

Of course, Bartelstien says his client would have stayed in the NBA without the lockout. Songaila was an unrestricted free agent and hails from Lithuania, so this move makes a lot of sense for him. Especially since he played in just 10 games for Philly last year.

Darius Songaila is reportedly close to an agreement with the Lithuanian team Lietuvos Rytas.

A trickle of below-the-radar players are heading to Europe with the NBA in a lockout, but most NBA fans will hardly notice the defections. Songaila appeared in just 10 games for the 76ers last season.

There is a zero percent chance free agent Darius Songaila returns to the Sixers, according to beat writer Kate Fagan.

Songaila made just 10 garbage time appearances last season. The Sixers only traded for him to get an expiring contract.

Various sources have mentioned that the Sixers may buy out the contract of Darius Songaila.

Orlando, Miami, and Golden State are some possible landing spots, but his impact will be minimal.

Darius Songaila has reportedly been traded to the Sixers from the Hornets.

It looks like he could be No. 2 on the depth chart behind Thaddeus Young at power forward. Songaila has always had the potential to be a solid player, but hasn't taken advantage of his chances. And we're not expecting much to change in Philly.

Darius Songaila will exercise his player option and stay with the Hornets next season.

Of course he will. He'll blame a crowded free agent market for the move, but he simply wasn't going to be paid more money to look for a new deal and team.

Darius Songaila nearly double-doubled in Thursday's loss to the Nuggets, scoring 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting with nine rebounds, three steals, and a block in 29 minutes.

He only saw so much time due to David West's foul trouble, and won't be a fantasy factor this year without an injury to the Hornets' frontcourt.

Darius Songaila returned from a sprained ankle and came off the bench for four points in 14 minutes on Wednesday.

Songaila is a 15-20 minute rotational player for the Hornets.

Darius Songaila will play in Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies.

His sprained right ankle has kept him sidelined for seven games but he'll be back tonight. He has fringe fantasy value at best so leave him on your waiver wire.

Darius Songaila (ankle) has a slight chance of returning Monday against the Spurs.

He has no value in fantasy leagues, but when he returns David West won't have to play 40+ minutes like he has the past two games. A better bet for his return will be Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies.

Darius Songaila (sprained ankle) is expected to miss another week.

Songaila has a severe sprain and is on crutches. David West has logged 43 and 41 minutes in the two games that Songaila has been out.
