The Spurs have interest in free agent Rasual Butler.
The Spurs aren't quite as deep on the outside with Marco Belinelli in Sacramento and Cory Joseph in Toronto. Butler likely wouldn't be in the rotation anyway while Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green soak up most of the minutes on the wing. Aug 21 - 10:08 PM

The Blazers are no longer interested in Rasual Butler, a source told the Oregonian.

After the Blazers were reported to have interest in the veteran, that notion was shot down almost immediately. It was fun while it lasted.
Jul 6 - 10:27 AM

The Blazers have shown an interest in veteran small forward Rasual Butler.

Butler may want to play for a contender at this point in his career, and the Warriors and Spurs are both rumored to be interested in him as well. Butler shot 38.7 percent from deep last season, and he also averaged 7.7 points in 20.1 minutes per game. The Blazers could use another small forward after trading Nicolas Batum to Charlotte, but Al-Farouq Aminu should be locked into a starting role in Portland.
Jul 5 - 12:55 PM

Rasual Butler played 23 minutes against the Pacers on Wednesday with 10 points, six boards and one 3-pointer.

Bradley Beal (ankle) could miss time, so Butler is in line for more shots. Although, Butler really flopped the last time he had an opportunity, so perhaps the Wizards go with Martell Webster more this time. Butler is only worth a look if you desperately need treys.
Mar 25 - 10:50 PM

Rasual Butler scored 15 points with three rebounds and three 3-pointers in 27 minutes against the Magic on Monday.

He made 4-of-14 from the field, so it could have been a much bigger game. Butler has really stepped up as catch-and-shoot guy and scored 15 on Saturday, so he might have another good game in him on Wednesday. If you want to use him, you'll want to make sure Brad Beal (toe) is out.
Feb 9 - 11:23 PM

Rasual Butler scored 15 points off the bench against the Nets on Saturday with two rebounds, four assists, two steals and three 3-pointers in 23 minutes.

With Bradley Beal (toe) out, Butler is easily the next best option on the wing behind Paul Pierce. The Wizards had three elite guys in catch-and-shoot treys last season because of John Wall's style of play and over 35 percent of Butler's shots are catch-and-shoot shots from beyond the arc. Beal isn't going to be out long, so Butler is only worth a look in deep leagues.
Feb 7 - 9:43 PM

Rasual Butler played 29 minutes against the Hornets on Thursday with 11 points, four rebounds, one assist and one 3-pointer.

Bradley Beal suffered a toe injury in the first half and it opened up some playing time for Butler. John Wall really needs a shooter out there to help space the floor, so Butler will get minutes should Beal miss. That said, Beal isn't expected to be out long if at all, so he's only worth a look as a stop-gap option.
Feb 5 - 10:05 PM

Rasual Butler scored nine points with one rebound, one block and one 3-pointer in 23 minutes against the Nets on Saturday.

He was surging to end 2014, but Butler has really cooled off over his last five. In that span, he averaged 6.6 points, 2.6 boards, 0.8 assists and 0.8 treys. He can be cut in most formats.
Jan 18 - 1:06 AM

Rasual Butler played 24 minutes off the bench and hit 6-of-11 shots and two 3-pointers for 14 points, two assists, a steal and two blocks in Wednesday's win over the Knicks.

Paul Pierce was out and starter Otto Porter struggled, so Butler got some nice run tonight. He's had some big games, but as long as the starters are healthy in Washington, he's just too inconsistent to trust.
Jan 7 - 10:09 PM

The Washington Wizards are expected to retain Rasual Butler.

He has been fantastic this season off the bench for the Wizards so it makes a lot of sense to keep him around. Butler's $1.4 million contract is expected to become fully guaranteed soon and the Wizards have instead decided to cut ties with Glen Rice Jr. by either trading or waiving him. While it is good to see Butler hang around, he still doesn't have a large enough role to be a factor in most fantasy leagues, so he can be left on the wire with confidence.
Jan 4 - 11:39 AM

Rasual Butler did not hit a three on Friday, finishing with eight points on 3-of-7 shooting with six rebounds in 27 minutes.

The minutes are a good sign with Paul Pierce logging 32 minutes, and on the season he has been a late-round value, but he's shooting way over his head and the regression will likely keep him in a deep-league position.

Rasual Butler came off the bench for 23 points, five rebounds, two assists, a steal, a block and four 3-pointers on 9-of-15 shooting in 28 minutes.

He went on a tear like this about two weeks ago, but then dried up and did almost nothing after owners picked him up. We're crediting tonight's performance to the absence of Pierce, as he hadn't scored more than eight points in any of his previous four games. Don't expect Butler to start playing like this on a regular basis, but any time Pierce is out, remember to give Butler a look in daily leagues. And if you're in a deep league and are simply looking for a warm body, feel free to take a flier on him.
Tue, Dec 16, 2014 09:44:00 PM

Rasual Butler scored just seven points on 3-of-7 shooting (including a three) with three rebounds and one steal in 25 minutes off the bench on Monday.

Butler showed why owners had some trepidation picking him up with this dud tonight. The best hope here is that the explosions outweigh the duds and while he's been pretty good this year he's still Rasual Butler.
Tue, Dec 9, 2014 12:35:00 AM

Rasual Butler made 8-of-17 from the field for 22 points in 30 minutes against the Celtics on Sunday, adding four rebounds, one steal and six triples.

He is rolling over his last four with averages of 18.8 points, 3.5 boards, 1.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 3.3 triples on 54.3 percent from the field. That's basically Kyle Korver right there and is must-start material. While the Wizards need another shooter, the problem is that Martell Webster (back) will come back and hurt him. Still, if you need treys, it's tough to leave Butler on the wire in standard formats.
Sun, Dec 7, 2014 03:56:00 PM

Rasual Butler continued his surprising output against the Nuggets on Friday during an easy 119-89 win with 16 points, three rebounds, two assists, two blocks, three steals and two 3-pointers.

While this might look like a garbage-time special, Butler did most of his damage in the first half. He's been unbelievable over his last five, averaging 16.2 points, 3.4 boards, 1.6 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.2 triples in that span. He should have some value in deep leagues until Martell Webster (back) returns.
