Chris Kaman started at center on Wednesday and had seven points, 13 rebounds and a block in a loss at Cleveland.
Robin Lopez is eventually going to come back and ruin Kaman's fantasy value, but as long as he's starting, he's worth using in many leagues. Jan 28 - 10:27 PM

Date:

Chris Kaman played 25 minutes against the Wizards on Saturday with six points, 10 rebounds and one steal in 25 minutes.

He was questionable tonight with a leg contusion and a thumb issue. Kaman will see minutes in the mid-20s until Robin Lopez (hand) returns next month. He'll be a low-end option in standard leagues.
Jan 25 - 1:01 AM

Chris Kaman (leg) will play against the Wizards on Saturday.

He has a sleeve on his leg and also is now dealing with a thumb injury. Kaman played 29 minutes on Thursday, which was probably too much. He'll likely be closer to 20 tonight, but he's still worth a look in standard leagues.
Jan 24 - 8:25 PM

Chris Kaman (leg contusion) is questionable to play against the Wizards on Saturday.

If the Blazers don't have Kaman, that potentially means they will be missing four of their top six for points per game this season. Coach Terry Stotts played Kaman 29 minutes on Thursday, which is certainly more than his usual threshold. If he's out, Stotts almost has no choice but to play Thomas Robinson and Meyers Leonard. Who knows, though? Maybe Steve Blake at center could work. DFS players will want to check back at shootaround on Saturday morning.
Jan 23 - 4:56 PM

Chris Kaman played 29 minutes against the Celtics on Thursday with 13 points, nine rebounds and one assist.

Coach Terry Stotts usually likes to keep Kaman in the low 20s, but he might not have that luxury now with so many players in street clothes. He was already in the standard league conversation even before today, so give him a look if you're looking for some big man stats over the next month.
Jan 23 - 2:41 AM

Chris Kaman managed just four points, four rebounds and one block over 19 minutes in Monday's win over the Kings.

Kaman wasn't the first person to struggle with DeMarcus Cousins and he won't be the last. With or without LaMarcus Aldridge suffering a thumb injury, Kaman was a guy to own until Robin Lopez returned. But now with the uncertainty of Aldridge's situation, he should be owned in all but the shallowest standard formats.
Jan 20 - 3:15 AM

Chris Kaman scored 15 points with 11 rebounds, one assist and three turnovers against the Clippers on Wednesday in 27 minutes.

Coach Terry Stotts is running some tight rotations, which is just what Kaman's fantasy owners want to hear. He played 32 minutes on Sunday and the Blazers seem comfortable letting the wheels fall off for the next couple weeks. He should be owned in standard leagues based on the past two games.
Jan 15 - 1:33 AM

Chris Kaman played 32 minutes on Sunday and had nine points, 12 rebounds, three assists and two steals to help Portland earn their eighth win in the past nine games.

The Blazers also improved to 20-0 this season when they lead after three quarters, a testament to the clutch play of their veteran roster. Kaman registered season highs in minutes played and rebounds on Sunday, and looks like a low-end value until Joel Freeland (shoulder) and Robin Lopez (hand) are ready to play.
Jan 12 - 12:05 AM

Chris Kaman said after Thursday's game that he's still adjusting to the starting role in Portland.

"It’s different," Kaman said of starting. "It’s hard to gauge what I’m supposed to be doing but I just try and play hard and give energy." Kaman has been thrust into the starting lineup with Robin Lopez (hand) and Joel Freeland (shoulder) sidelined, but he has done well, averaging 9.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks over his past two starts. His minutes will be monitoring, so he's not a great add in standard leagues, but he's certainly someone to consider when playing dailies.

Jan 9 - 10:52 AM

Chris Kaman put up a nice stat line in just 21 minutes against the Heat on Thursday with 10 points, nine rebounds and two blocks.

The Blazers will not be unleashing the oft-injured big man and he should be around 23 minutes per night or so. Kaman could put up low-end fantasy value, but obviously the low ceiling makes it tough to grab him, especially since Robin Lopez (hand) will be back in about one month.
Jan 9 - 1:28 AM

Blazers coach Terry Stotts hopes to play Chris Kaman 12-13 minutes per half on Thursday, saying, "Certainly [Kaman] is not going to go from playing 18 minutes to 30 minutes a night."

Kaman logged 27 minutes on Monday but appeared to wear down as the game progressed, and Stotts wants him to "build up to the minutes as a starter." Kaman has a decent short-term outlook with Joel Freeland (shoulder) injured, but his value will take a big hit once Freeland and Robin Lopez (shoulder) get back on the court.

Jan 7 - 6:28 PM

Coach Terry Stotts said Chris Kaman is most likely to start against the Heat on Thursday.

While hearing "most likely" is usually encouraging, it's a little bit different with Stotts. Still, Kaman had a nice line in 27 minutes on Monday, so he should be viewed as a solid short-term asset until Robin Lopez (hand) can return.
Jan 7 - 4:05 PM

Chris Kaman started at center and flirted with a double-double in Monday's win, scoring eight points on 3-of-8 shooting with 11 rebounds, three assists and three blocks in 27 minutes.

With Joel Freeland (shoulder) out and Kaman ready to go after a personal leave, this looks like a nice window in which to pick the big man up.
Jan 6 - 2:12 AM

Chris Kaman will play on Sunday vs. the Knicks.

He missed Friday's game because his wife gave birth to their child, but Kaman will be back in action against a weak Knicks team. Kaman is currently coming off of the bench for Portland, and his value is limited to deeper leagues until coach Terry Stotts decides to give him a bigger role.

Coach Terry Stotts is hopeful Chris Kaman (personal) will play on Sunday against the Knicks.

He was not with the team on Saturday, but his wife gave birth to their child this morning. Kaman should be in line for more minutes than usual with LaMarcus Aldridge (illness) doubtful to play. He'll be an option in fantasy leagues on Sunday, but that's contingent on him being at shootaround on Sunday morning.
