Chris Kaman (back) finished an ugly road loss on Sunday with seven points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 14 minutes off Portland's bench.
The Blazers opened the game 7-of-29 from the field and never regained their footing, finishing 33.7 percent from the field including an 8-of-26 mark from downtown. Portland will need Kaman and Robin Lopez (two points, five rebounds) to step up if they hope to even their first-round series at 1-1 on Wednesday. Apr 19 - 10:54 PM

Player News

Chris Kaman (back) is probable to play against the Grizzlies on Sunday.

He didn't play on Wednesday due to a lingering back injury. The Blazers are somewhat healthy up front as far as active players go, so expect Kaman to log minutes in the mid-teens. He won't be able to do much on offense with his low usage rate and will have to do his damage on the glass.
Apr 18 - 3:32 PM

Chris Kaman (back) is now doubtful for Wednesday's game vs. the Mavericks.

The Blazers want their veteran big man to be healthy with playoffs starting in a few days, so there is almost no shot that they risk playing him tonight. Meyers Leonard and Joel Freeland may see a few extra minutes off the bench tonight, but they aren't appealing options in most leagues.
Apr 15 - 1:25 PM

Chris Kaman is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game due to a back injury.

He sat out Monday's game to get some rest, and also because of a lingering thumb injury, so this back ailment is a new addition to his injury rolodex. With nothing at stake on Wednesday and the playoffs looming, it would be somewhat surprising to see Kaman in uniform.
Apr 14 - 7:12 PM

Chris Kaman (rest, thumb) will not play vs. the Nets on Monday.

Portland wants their veteran big man to be fresh for the playoffs, so it makes sense to leave him home. With LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum also out, Joel Freeland and Meyers Leonard will log heavy minutes in the frontcourt. Kaman isn't a reliable option in most leagues.
Apr 5 - 9:24 AM

Chris Kaman tweeted a picture of Chris Paul hitting him below the belt during Wednesday's game.

This would explain why Kaman felt the need to shove CP3 to the floor during Wednesday's loss to the Clippers, and perhaps this will weigh into the leagues' decision when they decide whether Kaman will be facing a fine or suspension. Click the link below to see the low blow for yourself.

Apr 3 - 9:46 AM

Chris Kaman returned from a shoulder injury against the Suns on Friday with four points, 11 boards and one steal in 18 minutes.

Besides the inflated rebounding total, this was a fair expectation for Kaman. He will have a minutes cap on him regardless of depth on the team, so he's only an option in very deep leagues.
Mar 28 - 2:34 AM

Chris Kaman (shoulder) is probable to play against the Suns on Friday.

He has been out since last week and the Blazers were able to get Joel Freeland some minutes. Kaman will likely be close to 15-20 minutes and is only an option in very deep leagues on a 13-game night.
Mar 27 - 2:45 PM

Chris Kaman (shoulder) will not play against the Jazz on Wednesday.

He suffered the injury last week and has missed the last two games. Joel Freeland benefits the most as the backup center and did play 23 minutes on Tuesday. He is only worth a look in deep leagues. Kaman can be dropped everywhere.
Mar 25 - 3:05 PM

Chris Kaman (shoulder) will not play vs. the Warriors on Tuesday.

The Blazers will probably err on the side of caution with Kaman moving forward in an effort to keep him fresh for the playoffs, so we wouldn't expect him to play unless he is 100 percent. The Blazers play again on Wednesday vs. the Jazz, so Kaman should be considered doubtful for that one as well. With LaMarcus Aldridge (finger) also out of the lineup, expect Joel Freeland and Meyers Leonard to see an uptick in minutes, though neither player is very appealing in most leagues right now.

Chris Kaman (shoulder) is doubtful to play against the Warriors on Tuesday.

He did not practice on Monday and is likely going to miss his second consecutive game. The Blazers will use Joel Freeland and Meyers Leonard to back up Robin Lopez. Neither are trustworthy in most leagues while Kaman can be dropped basically everywhere.
Mar 23 - 3:48 PM

Chris Kaman (shoulder) will not play against the Grizzlies on Saturday.

He suffered the injury on Friday and did not return. Kaman had a minor shoulder injury back in 2011, but it's certainly not a trend. With Kaman out for most of Friday, coach Terry Stotts went with a combination of C.J. McCollum and Meyers Leonard to fill in. Considering Kaman is only playing in the teens and Stotts doesn't have a consistent rotation when a wing or big is out, fantasy owners shouldn't trust C.J. or Meyers.
Mar 21 - 4:47 PM

Chris Kaman suffered a right shoulder strain on Friday against the Magic and will not return.

He has a tough time staying on the court and it's fair to think he's going to miss a couple games here. If that's true, Meyers Leonard should get a few more minutes. Leonard is worth a look in deep leagues for owners need some scoring.
Mar 20 - 8:15 PM

Chris Kaman (ankle) returned to action on Friday, scoring six points on 3-of-5 shooting with two rebounds and two blocks in 16 minutes.

Now that Robin Lopez is healthy he's going to have to play at a very high level to get a sniff in standard leagues. At his best he can be a low-end producer in a 22-24 mpg role.
Feb 21 - 3:26 AM

Chris Kaman (ankle) was at practice on Wednesday.

He did not play on Feb. 10 due to an ankle injury and it sounds like he'll be back. Kaman's fantasy value takes a hit with LaMarcus Aldridge and Robin Lopez playing big minutes, but he's still worth a look in deep leagues. Although, he has multiple injuries this month and only has February averages of 2.7 points, 4.3 boards and 1.0 blocks.
