Chris Kaman officially signed his two-year, $10 million contract with the Trail Blazers on Thursday.
"I am extremely pleased to add Chris to our roster," said Blazers coach Terry Stotts. "He is a proven NBA talent and will both bolster and complement our front court at both ends of the floor." Kaman provides quality depth in the front court behind Robin Lopez and LaMarcus Aldridge, but he should not be on fantasy radars. Jul 10 - 2:33 PM

The Blazers have reached an agreement with Chris Kaman on a two-year, $10 million contract.

This likely takes the Blazers out of the running on Spencer Hawes. Kaman will come in and back up Robin Lopez, who has been remarkably durable in his NBA career. He'll likely just have his minutes in the teens and will not have much fantasy value. The second year of his deal is partially guaranteed.

Chris Kaman's future with the Lakers is unclear, as the team is still developing a game plan on how to attack next season.

Kaman didn't fit into Mike D'Antoni's scheme and he eventually told Mike D to play him, or develop Robert Sacre instead. Kaman didn't play down the stretch and it's probably safe to say that if D'Antoni is coach next season, Kaman probably won't return to the Lakers.
Apr 17 - 1:30 PM

Chris Kaman (calf) will not play vs. the Spurs on Wednesday.

Kaman struggled to find favor with coach Mike D'Antoni and he wasn't shy about expressing his displeasure. The few times he did step into a big role it was short-lived, which made him very hard to roster in fantasy leagues. Hopefully he'll find a more suitable role next season, whether in L.A. or elsewhere.
Apr 16 - 12:58 PM

Chris Kaman (calf) will not play against the Jazz on Monday.

He is likely out on Wednesday night and his first season with the Lakers did not go well. He had some issues with his coach and couldn't say healthy -- a common problem for Kaman. Jordan Hill and Ryan Kelly will start and make for decent options considering how poorly the Jazz defend the paint.
Apr 14 - 7:50 PM

Chris Kaman (strained calf) went through light activities during Saturday's practice.

The Lakers already announced that Kaman won't play on Sunday but he could make an appearance during L.A.'s final two games on Monday and Wednesday. Even if he does return, he's unlikely to get enough playing time to be worth the trouble for fantasy owners fighting until the bitter end.
Apr 12 - 4:00 PM

Chris Kaman (strained calf) won't play on Friday or Sunday and he's uncertain to return this season.

"I'm doing all right," said Kaman. "It’s slow ... the calf is a weird thing. I don’t know if it’s possible [to return]." He's holding out some hope that he might return for L.A.'s final two games but it seems unlikely at this point. With Pau Gasol (vertigo) iffy to return this season, the Lakers will continue to rely on Jordan Hill, Robert Sacre and Ryan Kelly.
Apr 10 - 3:43 PM

Chris Kaman will not play against the Rockets on Tuesday due to his strained calf.

This will be his fourth consecutive game out of the lineup and he will likely miss more. Kaman has been in Mike D'Antoni's doghouse this season and there is little incentive to stash him in fantasy leagues. Jordan Hill's minutes are safe while Ryan Kelly and Robert Sacre will help.
Apr 7 - 5:11 PM

Chris Kaman (calf), Pau Gasol (vertigo) and Steve Nash (nerves) will all sit out Sunday's game.

The Lakers go into a matchup vs. the Clippers without Kaman or Gasol, which means they'll lean heavily on Jordan Hill and Robert Sacre for frontcourt production. Kaman is day-to-day but fantasy owners should avoid him given his inconsistent role for Mike D'Antoni and the fact that L.A. only plays five games after Sunday.
Apr 5 - 2:59 PM

Chris Kaman (calf) will not play in Friday's game against the Mavs.

Kaman has a history of healing very slowly from muscle strains. With Pau Gasol (vertigo) out again, the Lakers will have only Jordan Hill and Robert Sacre as true bigs on Friday night. Look for Hill to start and bring plenty of fantasy upside.
Apr 4 - 1:57 PM

Chris Kaman (right calf strain) will not play against the Kings on Wednesday.

The Lakers are going to start Jordan Hill and Ryan Kelly tonight. They really only have three big men tonight with Pau Gasol (vertigo) out, so Hill and Kelly should be busy while Robert Sacre fills in. Kaman probably isn't worth stashing in fantasy leagues.
Apr 2 - 8:36 PM

Chris Kaman (calf) is a game-time decision for Wednesday vs. the Kings.

Well, this just about sums up the Lakers' season. Pau Gasol is out, so the Lakers could miss their two big men who were expected to be in the starting lineup. If Kaman sits, it'll be a combination of Jordan Hill, Ryan Kelly and Robert Sacre getting run. Mike D'Antoni could also use Wes Johnson as a stretch four.
Apr 2 - 5:33 PM

Mike D'Antoni said that he plans to start Chris Kaman alongside Pau Gasol again on Wednesday, despite their struggles together on Tuesday.

Kaman and Gasol shot a combined 10-of-25 from the field vs. Portland, while struggling to defend LaMarcus Aldridge. Even though D'Antoni isn't a fan of the lineup it sounds like he'll stay the course for a while longer, which is terrible news if you're relying on Jordan Hill (DNP-CD on Tuesday). "We're pretty slow footed when [Pau and Kaman] are out there," D'Antoni said. "That's the thinking before, and it probably hasn't changed much." Gasol's status for Wednesday depends upon how he feels after his first game back, so keep an eye on L.A.'s injury report.
Apr 2 - 11:53 AM

Chris Kaman played 29 minutes in the starting lineup against the Blazers on Tuesday with 12 points, six boards, two assists, one steal and three blocks.

He started next to Pau Gasol and looked good tonight. Kaman has fallen out of favor a handful of times with coach Mike D'Antoni, but tonight's game makes him a decent pickup despite how the Lakers defense was horrible tonight.
Apr 2 - 1:06 AM

Mike D'Antoni isn't sure how he'll use Chris Kaman if Pau Gasol (vertigo) returns to action this week.

"I don't know. It's tough because Robert Sacre plays," said D'Antoni. "They play the same type of game and it's going to be tough. I’ll try to figure that one out. Up until now, that hasn't gone too well. I'd love for him to play. But we’ll have to see what happens." None of that inspires confidence, especially since Kaman's massive game on Sunday game on the heels of a six-minute game on Friday. He may be worth the gamble while Pau is out, but anyone relying on Kaman should be routinely checking the Lakers' injury report.
