The Suns have waived Leandro Barbosa.
Getting Barbosa's salary off the books for the 2017-18 season opens up $3.5 million in cap space for Phoenix, so this is a smart move from the Suns management as they look to embrace the youth movement. Barbosa will be 35 next season, so if he is able to secure another contract, it'll likely just be for the veteran's minimum. Jul 3 - 2:28 PM

Leandro Barbosa's contract for 2017-18 becomes guaranteed if the Suns don't waive him by the end of Monday.

With the Suns going all in on their youth movement, Barbosa should be sweating today. He's only on the books for $4 million and he is a good locker room guy, so it's not a lock that the Suns will let him go. The Brazilian Blur will be 35 this season, but he still has a little gas left in the tank and averaged 6.3 points in 14.4 minutes per game in 2016-17.
Jul 3 - 12:50 PM

Leandro Barbosa (hamstring) will not play on Friday against the Thunder.

He is likely out for the season.
Apr 7 - 9:02 PM

Leandro Barbosa (right hamstring spasm) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Warriors.

Barbosa is dealing with "nerve irritation" in his hamstring, and there's a really good chance he won't play again this season. Leave him on the wire.
Apr 4 - 4:03 PM

Leandro Barbosa (hamstring) will not play vs. Houston on Sunday.

There's simply no reason for Phoenix to play Barbosa at this stage of the season, even if he's 100 percent healthy.
Apr 2 - 8:23 PM

Leandro Barbosa (hamstring) will not play against the Clippers on Thursday.

The Suns really don't have much incentive to play him and it should be Ronnie Price as the backup point guard. Tyler Ulis should play a ton.
Mar 30 - 9:04 PM

Leandro Barbosa (hamstring) is a game-time decision to face the Clippers on Thursday.

We probably won't get an update on Barbosa here, but for now assume he's not going to play. If he is out, Jarell Eddie and Ronnie Price would play more.
Mar 30 - 8:23 PM

Leandro Barbosa (hamstring) didn't play on Tuesday vs. the Hawks.

The Suns are tanking and don't even bother to update their injury reports anymore. They will be cautious with the veteran and he can be left on the waiver wire in all standard leagues.
Mar 28 - 11:38 PM

Leandro Barbosa (hamstring) is questionable to play Tuesday vs. the Hawks.

The hamstring issue forced Barbosa to the sidelines on Sunday, which resulted in Tyler Ulis logging heavy minutes. If he's out again tonight, it'll be more of the same.
Mar 28 - 3:00 PM

Leandro Barbosa (hamstring) will not play on Sunday vs. the Hornets.

He has a "left hamstring issue" and will join Ronnie Price (leg), Eric Bledsoe (rest) and Brandon Knight (rest), Tyson Chandler (rest) on the shelf. Expect heavy workloads for Tyler Ulis and Devin Booker the rest of the way.
Mar 26 - 12:51 PM

Leandro Barbosa played through an illness on Tuesday and hit 4-of-7 shots and a 3-pointer for 13 points and an assist in 18 minutes.

He missed Sunday's game with the illness and while he played fairly well tonight, he only gets around 15-18 minutes a night, which aren't enough to make him fantasy-worthy.
Mar 21 - 11:09 PM

Coach Earl Watson said Leandro Barbosa (illness) is likely to play Tuesday vs. the Heat.

Barbosa was upgraded to probable earlier in the day, so it certainly appears he is on track to return after missing the Suns previous two contests. Devin Booker (right ankle) is also expected to play, so Barbosa will likely log his usual 12-15 minutes.
Mar 21 - 6:14 PM

Leandro Barbosa (illness) has been upgraded to probable for Tuesday's game vs. the Heat.

The Suns are badly in need of healthy backcourt bodies and it appears they will get both Barbosa and Devin Booker (ankle) back on Tuesday night. Derrick Jones, Jared Dudley and Jarell Eddie will see their minutes reduced with Barbosa and Booker back in the mix.

Mar 21 - 12:44 PM

Leandro Barbosa (illness) participated in the Suns' walk-through on Tuesday morning.

Barbosa has missed each of Pheonix's last two games. As of yesterday, he was listed as questionable in the game notes and we don't know if his odds of playing have increased. Devin Booker (ankle) is now probable, so the Suns will likely have at least one healthy shooting guard active on Tuesday.
Mar 21 - 11:37 AM

Leandro Barbosa (illness) is questionable to play Tuesday vs. Miami.

Devin Booker (ankle) and Ronnie Price (leg) are also questionable, and if none of these guys can give it a go on Tuesday night, Tyler Ulis and T.J. Warren will be forced into heavy minutes. Barbosa is not worth a roster spot in any scenario.
