Wizards acquired the $1.2 million expiring contract of Leandro Barbosa.
Barbosa is out for the year due to an ACL tear, so this is just a straight Jordan Crawford dump by the Wizards. Barbosa will hit free agency in July at age 30 while rehabbing a devastating injury. Expect a soft market at best. Feb 21 - 2:13 PM

Danny Ainge said that the Celtics are interested in bringing back Leandro Barbosa next season.

Ainge could just be being nice because Barbosa will have to have a miraculous recovery to be ready for next season. Regardless, Barbosa will be an unrestricted free agent after the season and will have to prove to every team that his surgically-repaired knee is healthy.

Leandro Barbosa, who is out for the season with a torn ACL, also has damage to his MCL and will have to wait one month before surgery.

Barbosa's torn ACL was bad enough, but the fact that he has MCL damage and has to wait a month before surgery only complicates his rehab after surgery. He's going to have to prove to NBA teams that he's healthy and is unlikely to be ready for the start of next year.

The Celtics could release Leandro Barbosa in order to create an open roster spot.

Barbosa is out for the season with a torn ACL and is not expected to return to the Celtics after signing a one-year deal, so it's possible the club waives him in order to add a healthy body.

Leandro Barbosa is out for the season due to an ACL tear.

Barbosa's playing time and role were on the rise thanks to Rajon Rondo's ACL tear. Now he's facing 9-12 months of rehab at age 30. Barbosa first season in Boston can only be called a flop as he averaged a career-low 5.2 points while playing just 12.5 minutes per game. He'll hit the free-agent market this summer with plenty of red flags.

Leandro Barbosa is currently undergoing tests on his injured knee, but sources told the Boston Herald that the Celtics fear Barbosa has a torn ACL.

Brutal. Rajon Rondo is already out with a torn ACL, and Jared Sullinger is out for the season after back surgery. Assuming Barbosa is out for the year, and that's looking like it is very much the case, we'd expect the Celtics to explore their options in bringing in another guard. For now, Avery Bradley, Courtney Lee and Jason Terry will have their hands full.

Leandro Barbosa will have an MRI on his left knee on Tuesday, but Kevin Garnett said that the Celtics were told Barbosa would be out for the season.

There's talk of Barbosa being out for the year and all signs point to that being the case. While the MRI will give a conclusive diagnosis, the Celtics training staff can do some preliminary tests and they may believe he suffered ligament damage. If you own LB and there's anything remotely desirable on the wire, we'd cut him since a day-to-day prognosis is highly unlikely. Avery Bradley, Jason Terry and Courtney Lee will all gain value.

Leandro Barbosa suffered a left knee injury in the third quarter of Monday's game and was carried to the locker room.

Not good. The trainer was looking at his left knee and Barbosa couldn't put any weight on it. Boston has been hit with the injury bug badly and Barbosa could be out for a long time. Avery Bradley, Jason Terry and Courtney Lee should all gain some value with LB out.
Feb 11 - 8:57 PM

Leandro Barbosa played just 15 minutes in Wednesday's win over Sacramento, scoring seven points with two assists and one 3-pointer.

It wasn't a good start and Barbosa hasn't really been in Doc Rivers' good graces. He looks to have the least value of any of the Boston guards.
Jan 30 - 11:07 PM

Leandro Barbosa's minutes are expected to rise with Rajon Rondo out for the season with a torn ACL.

Doc Rivers likes Barbosa's scoring ability, and Barbosa played 30 minutes on Sunday without Rondo on the floor. He finished with nine points, three boards, four assists, a steal and a 3-pointer, so owners looking for help off the waiver wire should give Barbosa a look.
Jan 28 - 8:57 AM

Leandro Barbosa played 30 minutes against the Heat on Sunday and scored nine points with three rebounds, four assists, one steal and one 3-pointer.

He led the guards with his four assists and was called upon by Doc Rivers. In the post-game conference, Doc said he went with Barbosa more as the game progressed and added he had "no idea" how he's going to handle replacing Rondo. The Celtics rank 20th in pace and 21st in offensive efficiency, but their identity is going to change a bunch and the up-tempo Barbosa could be a part of that. It's open season on adding Celtics players, so he's is worth a look in most leagues.

Danny Ainge said Friday that Leandro Barbosa never requested a trade and Ainge considers the matter closed.

Barbosa recently denied a Brazilian report in which he was quoted as saying he wanted out of Boston and wasn't getting enough playing time. Barbosa started Friday night but scored just five points to go along with three rebounds, one assist and one steal. He's been a non-factor all season and hopefully this whole situation is over and done with.
Jan 19 - 9:34 AM

Leandro Barbosa on Thursday vehemently denied a report that he requested a trade from the Celtics.

Barbosa denied the report, which stemmed from an interview with ESPN.br in Barbosa's native country of Brazil, despite being shown both the translation and the original version. "No, I want to play. I want to be here. That's it," he said Thursday. Barbosa, who has been a non-factor all season, said he knew coming to Boston there would be uneven playing time and denied he wants to leave to play closer to home.
Jan 17 - 3:22 PM

Leandro Barbosa has reportedly requested a trade from the Celtics.

It sounds more like he's requested his release than a trade as he wants to play internationally and be close to his family. Barbosa has been an utter non-factor for the Celtics this season.

Leandro Barbosa scored two points in four minutes in his return from a personal absence on Sunday.

Rajon Rondo (hip) was active and Jason Terry's shot was falling, so as usual there was no need for Barbosa to play many minutes.
