Matt Bonner said he's "coming back" to San Antonio.
The Red Rocket did get some interest from the Kings to help them space the floor, but he's likely just coming back to the Spurs for the minimum. He'll give the Spurs another option on their bench, which isn't quite as deep this year. Jul 15 - 4:42 PM

The Sacramento Kings are interested in Matt Bonner, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

While the 35-year-old has said he would like to return to the Spurs, he may need to settle for a landing spot in Sacramento as the Spurs may not have a spot for him. The Kings and the Spurs have had an increasingly cozy relationship since Vlade Divac took over in Sacto, and the Kings are looking for a situational stretch-big precisely in the mold of Bonner.

Matt Bonner said that he hopes to re-sign with the Spurs as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

"I hope to be back," said Bonner, who has been with the Spurs since the 2006-07 season. "I love playing for the Spurs. I love everything about the organization and everybody in the organization — players, coaches, staff members. I hope they will all be back for next year." Bonner may be able to land another minimum level deal with San Antonio, but with Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Danny Green all set to hit free agency this offseason, Bonner is likely very low on the Spurs’ to-do list.
May 8 - 9:57 AM

Matt Bonner (calf) committed one foul and grabbed one rebound in four minutes off the Spurs' bench on Sunday.

Tiago Splitter's calf injury is a lingering issue and the Spurs will need all of their frontcourt depth vs. the Clippers. Bonner's return health is encouraging and his 3-point shooting could help spread the court and draw L.A.'s big men out of the paint, but he isn't likely to be a big factor.
Apr 20 - 2:09 AM

Matt Bonner (calf) is questionable to play against the Clippers on Sunday.

He was well enough to direct a Spurs music video, but he hasn't played since suffering the injury on Apr. 10. The Spurs will give more minutes to Tim Duncan, so Bonner won't be needed as much.
Apr 18 - 5:11 PM

Matt Bonner (calf) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game vs. the Pelicans.

With both Bonner and Tiago Splitter (calf) on the shelf for Wednesday's game, expect Boris Diaw and Aron Baynes to log extended minutes. Baynes makes for an intriguing, albeit risky, daily league prospect.
Apr 14 - 3:02 PM

Matt Bonner (calf) is doubtful to play against the Suns on Sunday.

It will be Boris Diaw, Aron Baynes and Jeff Ayres getting most of the big man minutes next to Tim Duncan on Sunday. Diaw offers the most upside while Baynes is also worth a look in standard leagues for the last day of the week.
Apr 11 - 6:07 PM

Matt Bonner (illness) will play vs. the Rockets on Wednesday.

Bonner will play a larger-than-usual role with Tiago Splitter (calf) on the sidelines, but he's a dubious fantasy option even if he gets the start ahead of Aron Baynes.
Apr 8 - 7:17 PM

Matt Bonner (illness) is questionable to play against the Rockets on Wednesday.

He came off the bench on Tuesday and it should be Aron Baynes getting the start again tonight. Baynes scored 10 points with six boards in 22 minutes and he could be even better tonight. Tiago Splitter (calf) is also out.
Apr 8 - 2:07 PM

Matt Bonner will return to the bench for Tuesday's game against OKC.

Bonner got the start on Sunday, but only managed to put up two points, four rebounds and one assist through 24 minutes of action. He may or may not be in the rotation tonight, but what is certain is that he's not a fantasy option in almost any league.
Apr 7 - 7:05 PM

Matt Bonner started at center for the Spurs on Sunday and had two points, four rebounds and one assist in 24 minutes vs. the visiting Warriors.

Tiago Splitter is likely to miss the Spurs' next three games with a calf injury, opening the door for Bonner to start with Aron Baynes (eight points, five rebounds in 13 minutes) serving as his primary backup. It's not a very enticing duo for fantasy purposes, as tonight's boxscore will attest.
Apr 5 - 9:15 PM

Matt Bonner will start in place of Tiago Splitter (calf) on Sunday vs. the Warriors.

Splitter could be out for the next three games, but there is no guarantee that Bonner will remain with the starting unit past tonight's game and he probably won't see a lot of minutes vs. the Warriors. Leave Bonner on the wire and look for Aron Baynes to see more minutes tonight as well.
Apr 5 - 7:05 PM

Matt Bonner is starting against the Pacers on Monday.

He'll start with Tony Parker, Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard and Tim Duncan. Plan accordingly.
Feb 9 - 6:41 PM

Matt Bonner shifted to the bench for Saturday's game vs. the Clippers, chipping in with one rebound in eight minutes of action.

Tiago Splitter moved back into the starting lineup for this one, but no lineup is permanent when coach Gregg Popovich is at the helm. Neither Bonner nor Splitter will have large enough roles to matter in most leagues, so they can be left on the wire with confidence.
Feb 1 - 1:07 AM

Matt Bonner replaced Tiago Splitter in the starting lineup on Sunday vs. the Bucks, but played just 16 minutes and finished with five points, one board, one assist and one 3-pointer.

The lineup change isn't permanent by any means, and it's well known that coach Gregg Popovich constantly tweaks his rotations depending on the matchup. Even if Bonner remains in the starting unit for another game or two, it's obvious that he is not a reliable asset in almost any league.
