Matt Bonner played 31 minutes off the Spurs' bench on Christmas, putting up 17 points (6-of-12 shooting) to go with three 3-pointers, four rebounds, one assist, and one block.
Bonner saw some increased opportunity tonight with Boris Diaw (illness) picking up a DNP-CD, and he could again get some extended run on Friday if Diaw is forced to sit. However, he'll have a tough matchup against the Pelicans, so he'd make for a risky option in daily leagues. Stay tuned. Dec 25 - 7:23 PM

Date:

The Spurs shifted Matt Bonner to the bench for Sunday's road win vs. the Nuggets, where he scored three points in 13 minutes with one rebound and one assist.

Bonner has filled in admirably as needed this season, picking up extra minutes with Tiago Splitter (calf) on the shelf, but his meager fantasy value vanished with Splitter's return.
Dec 14 - 10:57 PM

Matt Bonner replaced Boris Diaw in the starting lineup against the Grizzlies on Friday.

This isn't the first time the Spurs switched their starting lineup at the last minute and it won't be the last. Bonner only has deep-league value.
Dec 5 - 8:02 PM

Matt Bonner made all five shots from the field with two 3-pointers for 12 points in a 109-103 win on Monday with two assist and one block.

That's good for a 120.0 effective field goal percentage. Bonner stepped up tonight with Tim Duncan (rest) out, so it's hard to imagine him putting up many more great lines.
Dec 1 - 10:39 PM

Matt Bonner returned to action from an illness on Wednesday but failed to score in 14 minutes.

He had missed three straight games and while he'll have the occasional big line when the Spurs get nutty with the lineup, he's not worth holding in almost any league.
Nov 27 - 1:56 AM

Matt Bonner (illness) is ready to play against the Pacers on Wednesday.

It's going to be interesting to see how coach Ettore Messina uses Bonner tonight. Boris Diaw has been great, so his fantasy owners shouldn't be too concerned about Bonner returning.
Nov 26 - 6:58 PM

Matt Bonner (stomach virus) is probable for Wednesday’s game vs. Indiana.

Bonner sat out Saturday's game as the Spurs quarantined him to avoid spreading his illness, but he's recovered and might even return to the starting lineup with Tiago Splitter sidelined. He's a poor source of fantasy value beyond the handful of 3-pointers he offers per game.

Nov 25 - 7:08 PM

Matt Bonner (illness) will not play against the Nets on Saturday.

He was doubtful and his illness will cost him his third game. Bonner has been helpful for the Spurs while Tiago Splitter (calf) has been out, but he's usually not worth starting in almost any fantasy league.
Nov 22 - 6:54 PM

Matt Bonner (illness) is doubtful to face the Nets on Saturday.

The Spurs have seen Boris Diaw flourish in the starting lineup over the past couple games and he should get another chance tonight. If you want to give him a look in a daily league, it makes sense. Bonner has very little fantasy value.
Nov 22 - 2:37 PM

Matt Bonner (stomach illness) will not suit up for Friday's game vs. the Celtics.

Bonner has little fantasy value in most fantasy leagues, and his absence just means more minutes for Tim Duncan, Boris Diaw, and Aron Baynes. Bonner can remain on the wire in nearly all formats.
Nov 21 - 12:22 PM

Matt Bonner (stomach illness) is being listed as questionable for Friday's game vs. the Timberwolves.

Bonner is averaging just 6.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 three-pointers on the season, and that pretty much tells you all you need to know about Bonner's non-existent fantasy value. Feel free to leave The Red Mamba on the wire in all but the deepest of leagues.
Nov 20 - 5:21 PM

Matt Bonner will not suit up for the Spurs on Wednesday due to a stomach illness.

Tiago Splitter (calf) is still on the shelf, so there will be extra opportunities for Tim Duncan, Boris Diaw and Aron Baynes against the Cavaliers' lenient frontcourt. Bonner is coming off a fluky 18-point game vs. the 76ers, but he's too inconsistent for use as more than a 3-point specialist in very deep leagues.
Nov 19 - 5:40 PM

Matt Bonner scored 18 points with one rebound, three assists and four 3-pointers in 20 minutes against the 76ers on Monday.

The 76ers will give up big lines and this is one of the funnier ones. Bonner is not worth owning in most leagues, but he's a deep-league spot-start guy while Tiago Splitter (calf) is out.
Nov 18 - 1:24 AM

Matt Bonner is starting against the Clippers on Monday night.

He was a DNP-CD on Saturday and started on Thursday night. At this rate, we'd guess Bonner won't play on Tuesday against the Warriors.
Nov 10 - 10:48 PM

Matt Bonner is starting for the Spurs on Thursday against the Rockets.

He'll take Tim Duncan's (rest) role for the evening. Bonner has become the modern day Brian Scalabrine (with more actual talent) and can be ignored in fantasy leagues.
